Just played my EUB for over an hour without any discomfort (not the cleanest playing, but small steps). I must be getting used to it.

I still rate the TC amps and cabs. They really had a grip on the market for some time. I can't believe it has been 14-15 years! Really?! I have 2 x RS210, covers, footswitch, RH750 and the bag and I enjoy them still. I actually don't think we have moved on THAT far since the Genz Benz/TC/Markbass amps of 10 or so years ago.

DIY walk up performer stand. Design input and suggestions please!

Yes! As I've just posted, I've been playing my No.2 bass which is a G&L Fallout since I made the stand. The G&L is a bit of a beast, and I'd all but stopped playing it. I've now re-introduced myself to it and can appreciate it for the sort of bass it is, rather than moan about it because of its weight. -

Thanks. The Lakland HB30 hollowbody is my No. 1 bass. I've had it for 7 years and nothing has come remotely close to replacing it. It will be with me until I stop playing bass. No.2 bass is a G&L Fallout. Heavy thing, and I'd all but stopped playing it because of my neck and arm problems. The bass stand has re-introduced the G&L to me - I can now play the G&L and appreciate it for its own charms. Wider, deeper neck than the Lakland, and more difficult to get the action as low as I like. Altogether a more physical instrument to play. -

Well it is for Genzler...news for them. I am a user of Genz Benz amps and I have a LOT of respect for their technology in the bass amp/cab world. Why would I want to generate google hits? Makes no difference to me. Not my career/business/company. Anyway, apparently they are releasing info later today.

Are short scale basses really as bad as they say?

I remember reading negative comments in the bass magazines pre internet, especially the fender music master . Original ones are sought after these days . Then again headless basses were getting the same comments more or less back then. My, how things have changed .. I often think about getting a short scale myself , and trading one of my basses for one . What put me off most of the time , was the '60s look.( That's me being an old metalhead 😬) . I still don't like hofners, and never will, but I'm warming to the completion mustang replicas these days . They do look small to me , as I am not . Getting used to 20 frets instead of 24 is a bit of a head spinner for me . i should have got the badtz maru bass just for the fun value . If something similar comes up I'll nab it if I have funds etc Thar bass looks good . Each to their own . If you like it play it ..lots . -

Excellent, just stuck that album on too! 1585 songs so far, from Bach to Scientist, Fatback to King Tubby, Parliament to Jimmy Smith, Heptones to Herbie Hancock, Scientist to Schubert but probably 60% reggae.

Choosing my one and only pedal
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to b.tarnaras's topic in General Discussion
Good point , it brings me back to the '90s when the bass really cut through on a lot of metal albums . One other thing I just thought of , is the boom in active preamps in basses in the late '80s onwards . Even my Washburn status has that "clang " to it . Having said that, it's a marmite sound . -

If it helps, the 45-105 gauge Dunlop Black Labels felt very similar tension to Sunbeams/Hi-Beams in the same gauge. Just a tad stiffer. - Today

Absolutely drooling over this. I've looked at the Epifani's and the Nexus heads at some point over the last 18 months and nearly pulled the trigger. Seriously good rig!

Muzz started following The problem of Subs in Pubs.

I've gigged extensively in pubs, some smaller clubs and all sorts of wedding/function venues with two RCF 12 tops and a single 12 sub, and it was never, ever short of volume - and that's with triggered drums and no backline (guitar/vocal, bass, drums trio doing all sorts of music). If you need to go much louder than that in the sort of places above then the people at the front are being deafened... We've even used a pair of Bose S1s with the RCF 12 sub, and that was fine for smaller places. Newer band is a four-piece, no backline, miked kit, and through two RCF 15 tops it can go stupidly, pointlessly loud for pubs. I use inears, which are a blessing because it's so loud. All the bigger gigs I've played have had backline and/or appropriate sized PA for the venue. I can't recall a gig in the last 15 years when I either thought or have been told by a punter that any band I was in wasn't loud enough. Too loud, yes, not loud enough, no. Only ever played with a single 12 sub, now and then.

rwillett replied to Cheeto726's topic in General Discussion
Not sure why thats controversial... Looks a fabulous bass to me. I don't get all the negativity around guitars, I've a range of six strings and four strings. My daughter has just moved from a Strat type replica, to a lovely Vintage Les Paul (Vintage as in the company as opposed to the year, I can't afford anything vintage apart from the clothes I'm wearing). The LP is great as was the Hohner as is the Westone, she doesn't like playing my Squier MIK 89 Telecaster which is brilliant as I love it, but she likes the Ibanez Short Scale (24") and can;t really handle the Jazz bass. Horses for courses. I may not like the looks of some of the more extreme guitars, but thats just me. If you like them, play them and enjoy them. I am jealous of the Acinonyx though. Rob
