  1. Past hour
  2. Got the news that Ozzy had died soon after the open mic night started, so we of the house band did an impromptu version of Paranoid. As it happened, the band of teenage girls was missing their bassist, so I stepped in and we did Iron Man as the last number, admittedly somewhat imperfectly.
  3. Very sad loss for the world of not just rock but music in general. He had a good life and he lived it to the full. RIP Ozzy Osbourne.
  4. Hi, yeah both 4x10 cabs are still available at the moment
  5. Fender Tone Stack, no? Like an Alembic Preamp. But with rocket power bolted on.
  6. As always, I am open to reasonable offers I forgot to mention it originally but I have a brand new set of pots, cap and jack that I haven't got around to wiring up for this
  7. What happens at a BassChat Chat stays at a BassChat Chat......I'm keeping shtum 😮😇🤣🤣
  8. Just bought a Cioks DC7 from Jim. As above, perfect transaction, very happy. Thanks so much 🙂 Si
  9. Sad day for music. He did it his way and won. Huge respect to the legend that is Ozzy. RIP and condolences to the family and close friends. We will all miss you. Dave
  10. He literally said a 4 ohm cabinet 😀 A sensitive 8 ohm cabinet will be equally effective in my experience
  11. I rather like it when you’re arch. Tell me off about something else 🤪
  12. I had one, bought in about '93 but I suspect it had been in the shop a year or two. Decent neck, plywood body but none the worse for that, and the pickups sounded fine but were a little microphonic - I could hear my leather strap ends creaking on the buttons through the amp.
  13. Yes, as above, the chords seem to be G, D and Amin, so any notes from those chords will fit. You can see the chords changing from his hand positions, so just watch and listen, and you'll soon 'hear' what you're seeing. Try it, using the video, and listen to what notes you play fit best. Top tip : just play notes on the beat at first, and all will become clear.
  14. What can I say about this pedal that hasn't already been said? Super cool and unique filter used by Flea and lots of other people. No other filter I've come across sounds quite like this little green beast, and it also does the famous "dub trick" of turning your bass into a subby monster by turning off the sensitivity so the filter doesn't open. It's been well used in it's ~30 year lifetime with a few bumps and scrapes in the finish, but all is working as it should. Somehow the notoriously "difficult to keep hold of" battery door is still intact on this one! No velcro, and rear sticker with serial number still intact also. Really cool pedal that I owned a number of years ago, and wanted to revisit it out of nostalgia! I've had my fun with it here at home, and now it's time to pass it on. Boss to 3.5mm power adaptor included. Looking for exactly what I paid for it from here a few weeks ago: £60. Add a £5er for delivery, or can be picked up from Ickenham NW London.
  15. +1 still my favourite octaver of all time, and I've tried ton of them!
  16. This is exciting. If you could use both an FM and virtual analogue voice simultaneously, that would be even more so - a bit of moog underneath REALLY fattens up a dx7 bass sound. Definitely another case where careful choice of presets will be invaluable; so many of the classic sounds were just factory presets in the case of FM, it is horribly unintuitive to programme. I guess an S&S engine would be useful for some people, and very innovative in guitar pedal terms. Wavetable synthesis maybe even more so. For digital multi-effects, imo they have to be very good indeed to make it much of a selling point. So many decent-ish utility units and modellers already available. A nice compressor model would help give the synth output an even more 'finished' sound based on my experience so far, but again 2 or 3 optimised presets would be essential. I'm a big fan of the one knob compression/saturation in the Strymon Deco I picked up recently, it really is very tape-like and sounds great on the FI4/VIP, just adds hugeness.
  17. Mine too - In fact I picked it up from its previous owner, a very interesting chap who had been in a beat type group in the 60s and was shifting stuff out, He had a very impressive Vox value bass stack from the 60s that was probably worth quite a bit now, that he bought new from the factory that he had no interest in buying. And quite a few interesting stories.

  20. Don’t bring pugs into it… let’s concentrate on diminutive humanoids!😂
  21. Y'know I find Basschat somewhat bizarre! I remember all the gigs I played in England and Wales using 50W amps. I was never at a loss for volume! Now here are you guys saying that you need 500W in order to be heard in an average British pub. I find that incomprehensible. Back in the day I would have died for an amp as powerful as an Elf! If an Elf is not enough for your needs add a second one with its speaker system to increase your volume. I can only imagine how loud your band must be.
