  1. Past hour
  2. Can worms of .., bitter rearrange
  3. Yep - always wanted one, but slab bodies exacerbate my nerve pain; so that’s a few quid saved 😂
  4. Absolutely agree! In terms of this one, I don’t know why you wouldn’t buy a genuine late 70s Stingray? I have one and it’s a beast.
  5. Welcome Alan.
  6. I totally forgot to add that in , Thanks Clarky...
  7. The wife and I have been tentatively planning a trip to Scotland next year (independent of my new ACG build), but I should have an ACG of my own by then. Hmm maybe I'll ask Alan about that slimmer profile. I already feel like I've bothered him so much, I'm scared to ask anymore questions!
  8. Ah dammit 😆 Yes it does, the asymmetric profile is bloody lush
  9. Bought a Glockenklang Preamp from cetera. As described and arrived next day! Great communication. Would certainly deal with Gary again in the future.
  10. I'm in two "main" bands... Weeds, formerly Dredd and the Badass Weeds were formed in Leeds in 1985 with members going off in 1986 to do stuff like Utah Saints, Cassandra Complex, New Fast Automatic Daffodils etc, mainly doing funk and reggae extended jams for parties. But we got back together for occasional giggage and recording and finally - last year - produced our masterwork (actually, it's our only work). This got seized on by a Chester radio station who've convinced us to do an actual gig. So we're rapidly writing 5 more songs from our various corners of Europe (West Ireland, Shropshire, Manchester, Sheffield, South of France) ready for our one and only rehearsal just before the gig in October. Other band is funkpunk with female singer and 2 basses, we're called Choked and have been going for around 5 years. We get together far more than Weeds! In fact we've got 4 gigs coming up including Rebellion Festival. We've got an album and a single with our old drummer...
  11. Hi folks, Selling Sire V7 2nd gen in Lake Placide blue color. The thing is as new bar that tiny scratch/scuff at the back which looks worse in the picture than in reality is, and if you look very carefully you may find some tiny marks i can't even see.. Simply, in excellent condition.. I am a second owner, the bass was brought from France by 1st owner because he could not get this color here in UK that time (that's what i was told.)So he paid duties on the top of purchasing price.. Replaced the knobs by something from Guyker from Aliexpress if memory serves me well (the stacked ones), the solo ones are just plain dumb knobs you just slide on to the shaft. I may even have the original ugly ones lying around somewhere if you desperately need them.. DR Black Beauties on it, must be plenty of life left in them given that i own basses but don't know how to properly play them Not in a hurry to sell it but it just sits in the stand as i got myself something from much higher range & make. That's not to say this is bad bass and you know how good this stuff is anyway..I've got another one, 1st gen V7, i bought off Basschat members years ago that i still keep.. Collection only as i can't see myself posting it, unable to pack etc.. But could deliver to Warwickshire or places around (not too far) as i do go there on occasions. Perhaps could trade it for an amp Aguilar TH350 or 500 if anyone wants it that way?
  12. Mooer Micro D.I. Brand new in box and never been used. £40 posted.
  13. As much as I'd love a good fondle, I'm based in Central New York, so that might be difficult. Does your neck still have the assymetric profile?
  14. Yep, and you get what you get!
  15. I hear you 👍 It’s funny, but purely given how crazy prices are these days, I thought the Icon version was less than I’d expected. I knew a fair few players that could easily drop £6k on that bass, and it wouldn’t be as a display of wealth because £6k is nowt to them, but more the fun of owning it, and playing it. Don’t get me wrong, there were some guys that seemed quite morbid about big ticket purchases, but the majority seemed to be getting a kick out of it. I work in social care, which is chronically underfunded, and despite the fact that many wealthy people do give to charity, I just wish the £35k they spend on a vintage custom colour Fender went to a better place, or at least had a special ‘luxury tax’ that went to social care, but such is life.
  16. That is some fantastic detective work, wink wink. Yeah, the tort was swapped, and the previous owner decided to install regular size tuners, so swapped those to ultralite style ones.
  17. Alan tends to go for fatter necks than I’d like as standard on a 5, so I specced a slimmer profile. @eude does the same so if you were to spec a “Ewan style carve” Alan will know exactly what you mean. Whereabouts are you based? Wondering if we can find a way for you to fondle my RetroB…
  18. I'm so glad I made this post! You guys have made me feel so much better about this 😆 Regarding your bass, your original NBD post mentioned an "ultra slim profile". Is this a specification you requested, or more of a remark on Alan's usual necks?
  19. Bought a Diago power supply from Paul. Excellent comms, super fast delivery, bang on! Deal with confidence
  20. Quite possibly. The reason they’re expensive is because of artificially imposed scarcity and that appeals to people. I can own this and you can’t, etc. The purpose of owning this, in most cases, isn’t intrinsic it’s performative. As I get older extreme displays of wealth and rich people’s playthings like this make me feel queezy.
  21. Aye you got me there. 👍
  22. I bought this lovely instrument here on BC from Jamie (AKA jay-syncro) back in mid-February this year, with the intention of using it as a touring replacement for my Fender Jazz. However, after living with it for a good while, I find that I still prefer the Fender overall, and so I’d rather move this on and find it a home where it will be used and appreciated. As you can see, it’s clearly no case queen, and has been gigged a lot over the last 23 years (I haven’t added any additional marks of my own though!). However, it is a lovely player, and has beautiful classic Jazz tone for days from the Lindy Fralin pickups that were fitted as standard for this era and model of Lakland bass. Since owning it, I have had a set-up and light fret dress done by Phill Orme of Doghouse Guitar Repairs, restrung it with brand-new D’addario Chromes ECB-82 flats, and I’ve had the previously crackly pots cleaned and serviced. It plays beautifully. I renewed the Dunlop Dual straplock buttons with a fresh new set, and will include an as-new premium black suede strap fitted with corresponding Dunlop straplocks in the sale. Also included is a classic tweed Fender hard case in very good condition… a nice upgrade on the case I bought it with, and perfect for shipping in if required. I’m looking for a very reasonable £1700 for this… no offers or trades please! Fully-insured UK mainland shipping is possible at additional cost, but I would much rather have the buyer try in person/collect, or I can deliver myself within a reasonable radius of Liverpool, or even do a meet-up/handover somewhere mutually convenient. As always, more info/photos are available… just message me. *Additional detail photos will be uploaded in due course!* Thanks for looking! Etienne
  23. Been There Done That - Dr. Dre
  24. This isn’t meant as a criticism— I see posts like this quite often. I’m just genuinely curious about where that perception might come from. For years I used to sell high- end guitars to wealthy people, and I wouldn’t say they were "boosting their ego." For many of them, it was more like seeing excited kids genuinely enjoying themselves. They had the means and privilege to spend big (though relatively that’s ’big’ to you and me and not to them), but from their interactions I much more often saw them as genuine enthusiasts, getting joy from the instrument, rather than anything else.
