  1. Past hour
  2. cool, I'll check you guys out if you come my way at all
  3. Still available.
  4. Welcome Gremlin.
  5. I Need A Dollar - Aloe Blacc
  6. IME scale length does make a different on a 36" Overwater Original or the 37" low-B on a Dingwall, but 35" on a budget bass not so much. If a manufacturer can make a 35" scale bass with a decent sounding and feeling low-B they can probably make a 34" scale one too. Neck construction, stiffness and the rigidity of the neck joint (if it's not a through-neck bass) are the most important factors.
  7. We only gig about once a month. I do sod all exercise really but am trying to do more walking as I now deal with all the pa gear and am starting to feel it in my bones. Being a truck driver sitting down for long periods isn`t helping either. My main problem when gigging is the first 2 fingers on my right hand. As we play pretty hard and fast (too fast sometimes thanks to drummer boy) my fingers end up chewed after the first set (we usually play for 2.5 hours). I`m trying to get used to playing with a pick but find it hard to get the speed and keep it consistent.
  8. I don't think you could go wrong with this bass, as long as you don't plan to jump up and down on it mid-song like Lee Rocker. These are fully carved I think, so if you want to use it for jazz & other non-slap styles as well as rockabilly, you'd have the tone you need with the right mic or pickup. I used to have a Stentor 1950, ply back n sides, which was small bodied and light, perfect for tight gigs.
  9. 34mm condensor mic capsule replacement has anyone done one ? iv been using mine for 30ish years now and i think the capsules need replacing mainly cutting out while singing with anything breathy, even though there is a pop filter so to my question which ones are good ones ? there are loads on ebay all about 20 to 30 quid, but are they any good ? has anyone done one ? if so which one ? and was there any difference in sound from the original ( when it was working ) cheers all
  10. I doubt it out front. It is probably one of those things we notice, solo, in a studio environment. I really like the way the P bass sits in my current project, but nobody else would/does or cares 😂 Similarly, for functions stuff I’d pick the BB because I prefer the slap sound… but as above, non-bassists wouldn’t notice.
  11. Could only be a few weeks/months. People die at different ages every day and sometimes family members are keen to liquidate assets. Sudden heart attacks, hit by a car. Heck, my cousin (early 40s) died within two weeks of a brain cancer diagnosis.
  12. Lovely bass, I'm a lefty as well, chose to learn right handed instead, certainly more instruments available.
  13. Huge thumbs up for Vanderkley cabs - currently running a pair of 210MNTs (Eich T900)... by far the best cabs I have ever owned and used. You won't need it, but GLWS anyway🤣
  14. Admittedly there are. Even in your scenario though, how long has the instrument been left untouched? Theres risk involved in any second hand purchase and I choose to risk as little as I can.
  15. My American Fender Jazz body has the same pickup hole sizes.
  16. Oh nice. In a mix can you still make a distinction between the two?
  17. Driving down to Dorset tomorrow morning if anyone interested is en route…
  18. You're not comparing like with like. I would always expect a Monaco to exceed the performance of several One10's.
  19. This is what I do in my day job. I get calls about all sorts of things I know little or nothing about from people who know less.
  20. For sale this really awesome instrument, built late ’90 early ’2000 superb japan craftsmanship and stunning woods Walnut body maple neck, very slim and comfortable profile ebony fingerboard bartolini custom pickups and preamp (2 band) some little signs of use, nothing too evident price 1900€ hardcase included
  21. Not so sure about parting with it.. But I'm reorganizing my gear and for my current needs, I'm not using this instrument at the moment as I also have other 5 string jazz style instruments. I might consider a trade, or exchange, for a different instrument, maybe something more modern, or 4 or 5 strings.. with active preamp This Olinto is a sensational instrument, maybe the best passive jazz 5 I've ever tried.. a very woody and organic voice.. it doesn't sound like the typical maple fretboard instrument.. it sounds very 60's.. it even has a sound that seems older than my 66 jazz!! As for the characteristics of the instrument: Olinto J5, Production year 2023 body: alder maple neck, birdseye maple fingerboard, custom Mas Hino hand wound pickups 34" scale Carbonetti Sunburst nitro finish hipshot hardware weight around 4kg original hard case available a spare white perloid pickguard Other pics and samples available on request price for a new one, around 5200$ plus shipping, plus taxes I set a trade value of 4800€, open to discuss depending on the offers no issues on the bass.. really near mint conditions
  22. Up to you. You asked and I signposted you. You make your own choices from there on
  23. Is it just me or is the neck pickup route bigger than the bridge pickup? I was just about to say how nice it is to see a body which could be used without a scratchplate, unlike what Fender do these days.

    Zoom options

I would like to bounce this around to everyone. I have a line6 pod express bass and I was thinking about either a zoom b3 or a ms60b+ and a di for a small pedal board. I'm in no hurry and the line6 might do everything I need. But I'm going to need a di anyway and the b3 could do that. Any insights would be appreciated.
  25. So this arrived yesterday. Haven’t had chance to try it out yet, but if it’s half as good as my internet research suggests, then I think I’ll be happy. All part of my master plan of splitting my acoustic/double bass board from my electric board, as both of my bands move towards silent stages.
  26. I am exactly the same. With one notable exception, I think of everyone here as a chum and hope I treat everyone accordingly. I'm reminded of a local store that was offered a wonderful old Hiwatt stack, by a widow, at a silly price but insisted on paying a fair one instead. I have PM'd sellers in the past to suggest their price is possibly low. As stated, we all have our own (valid) view.
