I played some nice dry single note stuff like that last night. Well it was kind of like that once I had hard quantised it. Like that without the tone.

Interestingly I was browsing in Anderton's just today and tried a few basses. Long story short I couldn't wait to get back home to play the gear I already own. Basically I agree with you 👍

After giving IEM a quick go last year with a Behringer P2 and being pretty successful on the few songs at a gig I tried it on, I fancy giving it a more series go and going full on wireless. I'm thinking of giving either the Swiff WX520 or Xvive U45 a go. I wouldn't mind a personal monitor station and I'm ok for earbuds as I love the KZ ZS10 Pro's that I bought. The only bit I'm unsure about is how to connect the personal headphone monitor. I get that the XLR from my Sansamp will go to the FOH desk. Would I then run a line from the FOH desk into the Line Input of the personal headphone monitor and a line from my Output of my Sansamp into the Instrument In on the personal headphone monitor. This would give me the FOH mix and my bass mix that I can adjust individually to my taste. I would then plug the IEM base into Headphone Output and then the IEM backpack to my strap/back pocket. Does that sound about right or is that wrong? Is there a simpler way of being able to adjust my bass volume and the FOH mix individually in my IEM? Below is the personal headphone monitor I'm thinking about getting.

Update time! I managed to age the plate a little bit. Christmas / New Year guests are gone and I'm just recovering from my third cold-type virus in a row, so I finally got around to assembling the new control plate and wiring it up. Here's what it looks like built and then installed: Obviously the black knobs are not very 1962 but I like the look. Positive: Much easier having master volume and tone controls. Negative: There is still very little audible difference after the first small movement of the blend knob away from its centre detent. Positive: 3 distinct sounds at the twist of the blend klnob. Like @TRBboy I'll probably leave it in the middle most of the time. It's also become apparent to me that a Jazz responds rather differently from a Precision to the tone control being backed off - not bad, just different. Time to play some more Steely Dan methinks....

Love that oldschool Kahler 1026-BD Heavy Resonator bridge! Looks a lot like the bridges on the 1980 Precision Bass Special, Fender's first active offering, but the saddles are different. I'm a bit thrown by the hole below the bridge. I've seen those on 1980s US Fender bodies, and on few else. Do you have pics of what it looks like underneath the pickguard? I'm wondering if this actually could have been a Precision Bass Special. That would be routed like this, with an extra channel to a battery box on the back (but minus the bridge pickup route, which was added later), but I don't think it came in Antigua:

Not last night, actually sunday. We had a gig at a pub in a local beauty spot (which considering I live in Yeovil, there aren't too many!), it was the day at the end of all the holidays. It was going to be a pain to get in. Turned up just after the singer so followed them in round a corner and parked by the building, as well as we could. Had to carry everything through a door that people were insisting of standing in the way of, but it was their party so couldn't be too annoyed at them. There was a tiny width of stage, and there were already a load of guitars there as apparently there was going to be a couple of people playing at our half time. We had to move the stuff as there wasn't enough room in general! Anyway, we started and people were dancing from the start and they moved all the tables out of the room which was good. Did the first hour or so ending with whole lotta love that we haven't done for a while. Then we had a break and a lot of food from the party, while the public event of what appeared to be people singing to a backing track with a guitar went on for half an hour. Not sure why there were two guitars and a bass though! Anyway we went back on and it went well, very interactive crowd, although towards the end of the night they started tailing off as the party had been going since much earlier, and the snow was making people think they should get going. Was much easier loading again though due to the lack of people and tables, but there was a fair bit of snow. This beauty spot is the top of the hill, I was going to go the normal way down the hill, but the drummer said I should go the other way, through the villages, which isn't steep because of the weather, I didn't think it was really necessary, but driving out of the car park after the singer, on a very gentle slope the car antilock hammered. The singer was going the other way so I followed, it was a very slow journey home considering how short it is, but got there! Heres my corner, nice and cosy. This was actually 8pm and completely dark but the camera decided to just lighten it up. Thats the road. Just before load in Just before we started.

Any recommendations of professional luthiers in Norfolk/East Anglia? I’ve taken my bass to a couple of local “luthiers” and have been left less than impressed with the work done on my bass - jobs missed/not completed properly, so really looking for someone who know what they’re doing to a high standard! I’m literally willing to travel further afield for the right person if needs be. Tired of throwing money at people who can’t even do the basics properly.
