  2. You might get a Jim Deacon shortie precision for £150. The construction of them is great but they do really need a few upgrades. I have two of them and put in a good pickup and loom (the stock pots were really on/off without gradient) and as they are neck-divey I put a set of Hipshot ultralite tuners on. So if you can find one of them and some luck with parts in the classifieds and you'd have a great little bass. One has rounds with an EMG P-X pickup and the other has an Aguilar AG-4P pickup and flats. They sound like great P basses. Just 30 inch. Slim nut with some nice chunk front to back and reasonably narrow spacing at the bridge too. Super easy to play. I'll quite often pick them before my Lionel, they are great with the upgrades.
  3. Gear4Music have a Mustang like bass in their Hartwood range. https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Hartwood-Delta-Bass-Guitar-Sunburst/6PQE There are other finishes. Apparently it’s pretty good for the money. I have the weirder Satellite medium scale and fit and finish are impressive for a sub £200 instrument. If that carries over, then worth a look IMO. Failing that, if you can find a used Sire U5 for your money, I would definitely check it out.
  4. Touch Me (I Want Your Body) - Samantha Fox
  5. Great work @Rosie C! Where did you source the connectors, and do they need to be soldered?
  6. I'd Rather Go Blind - Ella Fitzgerald
  7. Picked up a lovely double bass in a trade with Lawrie. Pleasure to deal with and very grateful for the tips and pointers to get going with upright! Cheers!
  8. There are various wired-fret basses (Industrial Radio Midibass (was one for sale on here and didn’t sell I think), ROR guitars Expressiv Midibass, Frettrax that can be used with any MIDI device. (Would not recommend ordering new from Industrial Radio though as after almost 4 years I still had no bass, lots of excuses, terrible communication, and had to put a lot of effort into getting my money refunded.) There are a few other MIDI guitar things like jamstick (or however it is named) and a few similar things.
  9. Ernie Ball Cobalt Slinky Flatwounds 45 65 80 100 Well used, cut for a StingRay They've been on my Bass for a year or two so they're just getting going. Fifty quid and upwards new, so... £25 posted? Knock a fiver off if you collect from Bewdley DY12
  10. Is 500 watts enough? Depends on the band, but most of all on your speakers. If your cabs are properly designed then 500 watts will be very loud. Is there is a difference between the loudness of D class watts and "traditional" power amp watts!! Probably not.
  11. Hired CGI starting 12/1/26 if anyone works there and knows it to be a 21st century version of “the satanic mills” featuring Dickensian levels of worker oppression, please tell me @Richard R the original people I told you about dicked me around from mid-September till today when they finally worked out they didn’t have the budget for my clearly planet-sized talent (joke! I’m not a guitard…) CGI called me exactly four minutes later to make an offer. It’s been a rollercoaster of a day. Huge relief at Chateau Geek. Been treated to a fancy Costa by Madame Geek which indicates approval
  12. Zero. 😮 http://hornresp.net/ While it's called hornresp it will do horns, transmission lines, and direct radiators both sealed and ported. https://xsim.software.informer.com/ The only catch is you need Z and FRD files, but those are available for most drivers. Cost of the software is no issue. Learning how to use it is the hard part. Where going active is concerned there are full DSP plate amps at reasonable cost. Even if you go DIY with the amp the cost of DSP to go with it is about 10% of what it was 20 years ago. Not that I'd recommend trying to design your own for a one off build, the time it takes to acquire the skills required ranges from months for simple designs to years for complex designs. But there's no shortage of plans available from those who have done the work.
  13. Really high quality synth sounds, the kind I'm looking for too. Will see how the MXR handles them. A crazy thought, but is there any way a lightweight, affordable system could use light, electronics or EMR to be a superfast way of pitch detection based on finger placement, touch etc that could be input into the synth engine?
  14. The colour match is pretty good. The ASDA cable is actually a better match to the amp than the speaker cabinet badge. It's quite hard to make out but I think it says 1.25mm2
  15. We just use one wireless microphone but we also have a wireless sax, wireless bass, wireless X-Air mixer and Wireless IEMs, and haven't had any drop outs or anything. We found that we had a problem with the new Nux Sax wireless, the range wasn't great (certainly compared to the mic), so I now attach an XLR and hang the sax RX up near the front of the stage and the range is hugely better (ie, over double), so maybe that was inteference of them being plugged straight in the desk a few cms from each other - all the other wireless things are connected elsewhere.
  16. If it's only a temporary injury, you could do worse than a Squier Bronco or Gretsch Junior Jet 2nd hand.
  17. Just watching it from my feed and wanted to know about this guy and basschat is up there in the search results. His tone and playing is sublime. It takes some balls to do this as well, a whole orchestra behind him, wow. The music flows into some really cool sounds with beautiful chords and rhythms.
  18. I believe Subdecay contacted them as most of his new pedals (Noise Theory, Pixelwave, M3000) are basically software in a stomp. So I’m hoping they could be ported and be the first they add to an “app store” style system.
  19. I use them on both of my 5 string Washburn XB925 basses (fretted, and fretless). The fretted bass came with a set, which I liked so much that I got a set for the matching fretless. I liked the grip and bite of them being round wounds, but slightly smoother because they have been compressed. A nicely tight string, but not so much tension that I have to fight with them. On the fretted, there is a good low B, solid sound across all of the strings, and a lot of resonance transmitted through the neck. The fretted seems to have thinner gauge strings on it, and I am still getting used to the instrument following a recent neck adjustment to give me some mwah. They were difficult to find - my fretless set were ordered from Holland, I think. And the set already on the fretted came with the bass, from Hungary. I am not a connoisseur of bass strings. I have never tried the main brands. So, I can't really compare them to other brands. However, I like the SIT strings that I have. Ooh, hang on! One of my Washburn XB500s has a D'Addario low B (0.130", I think). I prefer the SIT low B to the D'Addario.
  20. For a combo, the Laney Digbeth Foundary line may have what you need.
  21. Reissue priced at £40.99, yours (new, sealed) for £25 posted UK. Now £20 OMD’s 1985 album Crush, will be reissued for its 40th anniversary in October. The band’s sixth album features the singles ‘So In Love,’ and ‘Secret’, with the former reaching the top 30 of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The 2LP vinyl edition features seven unreleased tracks. Both formats include rare photos and comprehensive notes by journalist and author Jason Draper in conversation with Andy McCluskey. The 40th anniversary re-release of Crush has been a wonderful opportunity for us to re-assess the album. 1985 was a period of great intensity with constant touring and time pressure in the studio, but we created a powerful collection of songs and lyrical themes. In hindsight, we made a much better album than we knew at the time. Two hit singles ‘So in Love’ and ‘Secret’ remain live set constants to this day. ANDY MCCLUSKEY
  22. She tried the wireless out at a gig on Sat and worked great. @Woodinblack Do you guys just use the one wireless? Just wondering if there will be interference / drop-outs if more than one of us get the same wireless set up? I note that, in theory, both the Joyo and Lekato have 4 channels. Amusingly her Lekato wireless via Ali Express arrived in time for the gig, but her AKG D7S from Thomann didn't!
  23. Won't be the best bass lines. It'll be the bass lines from the producers favourite songs!!
  24. I can't comment on the Squire, but the Vinterra's intonation is good. It was nicely set up and smooth playing out of the box. The only thing I've noticed is a sporadic buzzing on upper frets of the high E string. I don't think it's a string buzz. Continuing to track it down. The Bass VI is a fun instrument.
  25. Today
  26. Yikes, that’s a bit frightening! I don’t like the shaded headstocks, just too much.
