  2. Aye! But if it's a 160bpm punk thing we don't really want 110bpm funky drummer!
  3. Bought recently but I need something a bit neutral, it does the B15 thing amazingly though. The 1200-watt Venture V12 is the largest and most powerful of the three heads in the Venture Series, yet it weighs less than nine pounds and fits into a gig bag or the optional Venture carrying bag, making it an ideal head for the travelling bassist. It’s Class D power section provides more than enough power to drive any of the Venture Series speaker cabs or practically any other cab bassists may encounter on their travels. 1200 watts @ 4 ohms Legacy Preamp with 3-band EQ Sweepable mid frequencies Ultra Hi/3-way Ultra Lo switches Footswitchable SGT Overdrive circuit with SVT and B15 voicing switch Variable Compressor 8.4lb / 3.8kg Comes with carry bag and includes UK postage
  4. Thank you, young Francis Honestly, with an Ampeg V4 and a Sansamp, I think you probably already have more than enough compression in your signal chain without adding an additional pedal. My guess - obviously based on nothing more than an assumption based on your gear - is that it's an EQ issue rather than a compression one. The inherent Sansamp sound is a massive mid scoop which while sounding great on its own tends to make anything above the E string difficult to hear in the mix, at least that's been my experience wherever I've tried it over the years. Try dialing back the blend control to under 50% to make the mid rich tone of the Precision more prevalent. And the Ampeg tone, especially if you have the low boost button engaged, also cuts a big chunk of the low minds which usually translate as the bass frequencies you hear in the mix. So if you use that, try switching it off. It might not sound so pleasing on its own but will help you hear the bass clearer in the mix. And again, with the Ampeg and a Sansamp, I'm guessing you have enough drive for a natural drive sound, especially when trying the above suggestions to counteract the mid scoop of both.
  5. Absolutely amazing amps, l bought the same model from ossyrocks on here at Basschat and l couldn't be happier! It's made my 2 other amps redundant tbh. Light, powerful and you can dial in or out any tone you want and the taste control is a revelation. Glwts but you won't need it mate....
  6. £600 today only and then back into storage - Nothing of this quality at that price.
  7. That…is an absolute bargain! Small PA or run monitors with it. Good luck with the sale.
  8. A great example of what-could-have-been bass-wise is the Brendan Lynch mix of Champagne Supernova. It's a lovely part.
  9. Well, the things I didn’t know about Ricky’s! Thanks to all you backers 😆
  10. Update: I have now got the bass how I wanted after living with it for 18 months. The Babicz bridge is gone, good design but grub screws kept working loose on the saddles so this has been changed for a fender Himass bridge. I found the stock pickup very unbalanced across the strings, the E string sounded great but the others less so and this has been changed out for a Geezer Butler EMG….what a brilliant piece of kit and I’m very happy with the bass as is now.
  11. Great amps!
  12. Another great purchase from Chris! This time a set of EMG J pickups. Received super quickly Recommended!
  13. Pm sent
  14. They do look like Grovers from what we can see. Either Rotomatics and it’s a 4001 from mid 70’s or “Wavy” slimlines if the bass is a 4003. These were fitted around 1982 for a short while.
  15. I was there on Saturday night, he was playing what looked like a 68-73 sunburst P bass with both mutes on
  16. Saturday Night party gig in New Wellington Newmarket. Rock Covers Trio - apart from drunks knocking the boom of the mic stand into the singer/guitarist mouth and teeth several times, overall a very good night, 50+ people, great crowd couldn't ask for better. I'd decided to go back to a P bass (reverse, no tone pot) after stints using my Dingwall ABZ and G&L Trib M2000, turns out simple is best for me, also went back to the Keeley Bassist compressor after using a UAFX 1176 and struggling with all the extra knobs and choices! Raised the crossover (Sine Effects X24) point for my drive from 680hz to 800hz ish and I was very pleased sound wise, my P has the D'addario EXL160BT 120-50 strings tuned to Eb, still plenty of tension and plenty of "heft" through the Tecamp Puma 900 + BF Super Twin set up. Still getting used to filling out the mix since going down to a trio line up.
  17. It was here: https://www.thepighotel.com/on-the-beach/ It’s a chain and they’ve booked us for a series of gigs. Lovely people and a great restaurant

  19. Another important point to make perhaps is your height and how good your hearing is or / and your band mates hearing !! As a tall 6ft 1” guy i never struggled to hear my Monaco sat on the deck and I was typically around 6ft away from it when playing. In a band especially loud bands many cabs ( Marshall 4x12 ) are very directional and play havoc with stage volume as a balanced mix if not going through a venue PA as example
  20. Yes and yes. This CTR input does allow a second (mini) foot switch for scrolling through the presets. It can also be set for use with an exp pedal
  21. Today
  22. 2 quick questions on this!? 1. Does it have a footswitch for one and off? Ie like a stomp box? 2. Can the presets be overwritten with your own creations/tweaks? Thanks.
  23. That's correct. I'll amend the thread title to clarify. Cheers.
  24. I can arrange this. Please let me know where are you located.
  25. Paging @Osiris...
