  2. Since feeling a little disappointed in the lack of imagination shown by this series, I've restored my fascination with bass by rediscovering Graham Maby's brilliant playing on Joe jackson's first two albums, Look Sharp! and I'm the Man, both from 1979. A change in my circumstances has enabled me to retrieve my teenage vinyl collection after decades of storage, and these were in there, unplayed this century. I was 16 when I bought these albums and was inspired then, and even more impressed 46 years later. At only 26, Graham had pretty much mastered what he was doing. Every track on these albums is worth listening to in my opinion, for his catchy, skillful, melodic basslines that are front and centre in the mix. Each album is under 40 minutes long, with influences of new wave, reggae, rock, blues and probably more, so if if you've never done so, have a listen, Graham is one of the best IMO.
  3. Hi Ovi, thanks! Nice to hear from you! Are you back in bass business? This bass could be yours 😜
  4. Bring Your Daughter... To The Slaughter - Iron Maiden
  5. Thanks everyone.
  6. Line 6 have excellent customer service. Put in a support ticket and maybe also mention it on the massive Facebook Helix group and they'll get it sorted out fast.
  7. Really good basses - GLWTS
  8. First one in general. The second one might be amazing when sitting but crap when standing and so on. It might be comfy for a fewer amount of people.
  9. This is an ace thread! I'm in an originals band called Fred The Fool - it's folk(ish) pop/rock. The name's from a silly old Lincolnshire folk story - our frontman's an archaeologist and a lot of the songs draw from local history around Lincoln. The line-up is: lead vocals/acoustic guitar, piano/accordian, mandolin/acoustic guitar, drums/percussion, bass/upright (me!) We've spent the last year and half forming and recording about 12 songs, which are in various stages of production now. Some of them feature cool musicians - Graham Rorie from Gnoss plays some really nice fiddle on a few of our tracks - amazing how many folk are just an Instagram DM away! Currently working on our live set for an album launch gig in February 2026. The plan's to record/film that too, circulate it with some promoters we know and see what happens? We did our first little gig the other week and it went pretty well - we've really just been focused on recording and producing the songs, so it was a fun challenge to try them out live! 10. Nice pic Mickey! Do you have any video clips of this 5 piece in action?
  11. I've no use for a monitor really.
  12. Talk to your daughter- Robben Ford and the Blue Line

  14. Yeah it saves having to leave space to insert a headphone jack or a lead if you are using it as an output.
  15. Line6 POD Express Bass I have recently purchased one of these and have found that any saved setting I make disappears after a day or two. Andertons only say to do a firmware update or a factory reset (which is their answer to everything) but neither worked. Has anyone else had this issue? Not a fan of pedals, but bought to cover a particular track and for general messing around. It has potential but not if it is unreliable or unstable.
  16. A Angled headphone adapter is an excellent idea!
  17. Top left is my IEM transmitter. The DiCosimo and Broughton are always on effects. I could use the Stomp HP/LPF (and have done in the past) but the Broughton resonant bump is easier to achieve with the pedal. The DiCosimo is an easy EQ/boost solution to save going into the Stomp.
  18. As mentioned in this post :https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/520322-squier-jazz-deluxe-pre-amp-now-sold/ I have these for pickups sale. In great condition and all works fine. I have again modded a bass for my purposes so they are now spare. They are well made from a Squier model that’s well respected for its build and pricing. Ask away….. Collected from Aylesbury or UK postage at cost.

  20. My latest pedal ... is not a pedal at all. I just took delivery of an early Christmas present to myself: an Elektron Tonverk. This is a sample-based workstation / groovebox / effects system, and the effects are most relevant here. You can feed a live audio signal through it, via analogue inputs or USB-C, and apply loads of effects to it. The effects are under full sequencer control, not only in the choice of effect per pattern, but also all the parameters, which can be modified down to the note if that's what you want. The effects aren't specific to any instrument but are pretty powerful, and include the expected (compressor, EQs (graphic, synth-style or parametric), modulation effects) and some odd ones (grain-based pitch shifting, "dirtshaper" overdrive/distortion, and some complex delays and reverbs. I'm still at work (?) and don't have any other gear here, so a full test will have to wait until the weekend.
  21. 'Tis the season... Vulfpeck - 'Christmas in L.A.' bass transcription A student brought a transcription they'd found online to a lesson, and the beaming was so wonky that it made reading the thing 10x harder than it needed to be, so I did my own chart. Some nice harmony in here, too.
