Played a private members club last night, didn’t know what to expect as they normally have old school R&B and classic rock type acts. Still they seemed to enjoy it and got another booking for next year so all’s good. Had a major faux pas just before soundcheck when I discovered I’d packed the wrong strap, the one without strap locks, had to do a quick dash home (fortunately only 5 miles on this occasion)…..I found out how nippy the go kart mode was on the Mini Cooper S. Starry night shorty stingray and the normal silver converse. Banana between the 2 sets and a post gig Glen Morangie.

Sounds like what I had a couple of weeks ago that led to my current chest infection. Take it seriously and treat yourself kindly, a mate has just ended up in hospital with pneumonia after a similar bug.
-
Hope you’re feeling better matey. Can remember doing a gig once with a raging UTI and had to keep a bucket next to my cab….good times 🤣🤣🤣

I bought a bass off him a few years back and picked it up in person seeing as I'm only up the road from him. He's a nice guy and I played a few other basses while there. Just to echo what a few others have said, the bass was superbly setup. Probably the nicest setup I've ever had and a few mates who played the bass said they were impressed by it too. -
Well, I didn't sleep last night and felt terrible today, so that was fine as I had a gig in the afternoon at 2. I felt dizzy and sick. Easy setup but felt very cold and hot and generally unwell. Couldn't get warm in the first half which I think was me as the guitarist was complaining about being hot, but also hands were working like they were cold. We thought at the start it was goimg to be be poorly attended but it wasnt, it was pretty crowded. Second half I had put a fleece on so I was warmer and things were flowing better, but singing was an issue due to feeling sick. It all went well in the end and luckily it was an affternoon gig so we could leave at 4:30. Had a request at the end for surfing USA, but couldn't do that, I would have been sick. Luckily it wasn't very far and it was an easy breakdown and drive home. Came in, had some rice, laid down for 5 minutes, woke up at 10! Glad I got through it!

Luca Pisanu is indeed amazing but he’s not been on bass for them for a while, Gus Stirrat is the current bass player (who is of course also an insane player).

Assuming you don’t want to solder anything, something like this ought to be suitable. It may say 12 volt input but the small print says it works down to 8 volts. Be aware though that if you plug in a phone that draws 3 amps from the USB port, that gadget will need about 1.7 amps from the 9 volt supply, which would be quite a lot for a pedal. I couldn’t quickly find a similar item with a lower maximum output.

Well the bassist made it to the gig and (presumably) back again, so however they did it it must have worked. Thanks again for all the help!

I did. Nice bass - neck profile not for me though. -
@lurksalot Like the vibe of this and the style. I has a slight menace and intrigue about it. The riffs are sort of casual, in a good way, but bold and in place and the track flows well, keeping it interesting. Like it.

To me, it's a lot of money for something that's a lot of unsatisfactory compromises. My philosophy is that if you have to think about it that hard you don't really want it.
