loudspeaker started following Ashdown Service

Another very satisfied Ashdown customer here, my 18 year old ABM 900 had developed a bit of a scratchy sound at times, I thought it was the volume pot, I called Dave Green, he spent 1/2 hour on the phone going through diagnostic checks with me and then said box it up and send up to me and I will sort it out. Less than a week later the amp was returned with numerous new parts including new pots, new VU meter, knobs and slider caps now looking and sounding brand new. What an amazing company, great amps and such customer service is so rare in todays world

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

At first I thought the pickups were aligned “by eye”, rather than measurement but then I thought, was it to make the pole pieces more centred on the strings, given the narrow string spacing of the standard bridge? -

Just watched some of the funeral cortège going through Birmingham on the TV, the family stopped by where the floral tributes have been laid and placed some there themselves, you could see they were broken and clearly very upset, there were quite a few cretins in the crowd showing absolute disrespect by chanting and singing Ozzy Ozzy Ozzy Oi Oi Oi while this was going on, maybe a bit of silence would have been more appropriate.

Stopping is easy. I've done it loads of times.

And feel is such an odd thing. I was a Pbass guy for years , and missed many opportunities to buy other classic basses at a time they would sell for next to nothing. Back when used meant cheap. I thought that a Pbass was all I’d ever need. I was an idiot. Today , I’ve acquired a wack of other basses that are very different from Fender styled basses. I prefer short scales today. Some have binding or sharp edges , thin necks , thick necks , light , heavy , good looking and ugly. And although something may feel very different or weird when I pick it up , I’ve found that with a little time I can get accustomed to just about anything. And regret passing on some great opportunities simply because they felt different.

Matamp GT120 (not a GT100 after all)
Happy Jack replied to Happy Jack's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Dimensions weren't enough - people now want to know about the weight. According to my incredibly accurate and reliable bathroom scales, the amp head weighs near enough 18Kg, the flightcase weighs 8Kg, and the entire package (including appropriate heavy-duty Speakon cable + power cord) will be roughly 27Kg. -
I spent some years before the internet looking for a later Fireglo 4001 , and eventually found one in Toronto. There were never any for sale here in Halifax. It was just exactly what I hoped it would be , and for some years I was a Ric guy. I’ve had it now for close to thirty years. I just play it at home today , but any time I pick it up it feels perfect. Incredibly stable neck , I’ve only adjusted the truss rods twice in that time. Also managed to find an old burgundyglo set necked 4000. I thought I’d miss the neck pickup and knobs. I was wrong. They are beauties. And despite owning and playing Rics for some years , I still get excited when I see a nice one. They simply do that to me. Still.

I really like it, it's a great price point for a signature model from a brand like Spector and it's pretty unique to their line up. Maple boards with matching headstocks usually doesn't work for me, but there's something about it that I really like, maybe it's the matching purple blocks? I was umming and arring over a Pulse II (in ultra violet - so purple works for me!), but this def throws a spanner in the works!

@itu posted this elsewhere but I wonder if this could be another solution for users worried about stepping on the edit dial by mistake: http://stompshield.com

I fall in and out of loving it to be honest, as I'm more of a Jazz bass kinda guy. I must say that I'm really liking it just now though. I often wonder if I should sell it, but it seems pointless to get rid for another Jazz when I've several Jazzes already.

No. V3 code space is exhausted. V3 enjoyed about 9 years of continuous improvement (at no extra cost to users). V4 will likely get a similar treatment; there are already further improvements and feature additions in the pipeline.

I love the colour. I'm surprised they haven't got a black one too, though, just for those fans that don't like the purple. As Spector fan, I'm not going to be joining the queue. It's an FSO from Spector and it opens up the brand to more players. As a marketing move I geddit totally.

Ernie Ball Pino Palladino flatwounds - £90 a set
Misdee replied to kevin_lindsay's topic in General Discussion
He used Thomastik and La Bella. I've listened to a few demos of these strings on YouTube now that they are in the hands of mere mortals. They sound really good, a lot closer to the sound of Thomastiks than the more muted traditional La Bella tone. The Pino strings seem to have a nice meaty sound, for sure, but on what I've heard so far I can't say they sound any better than TI's or La Bella, both of which cost significantly less. FWIW, just about the best flats I've tried at any price are the Dunlops. In terms of tone, they're the perfect blend of the thump of La Bella's and the articulate sound of the TI's. Not cheap at £80 for a four string set but definitely worth investigating if you're in the market for these EB PIno strings. - Today

Intonation set up on Cort B5 Element

My take is that the string in question isn't making contact at the fingerboard side of the nut, but further back. This would result in what they're finding. -
