  1. Past hour
  2. I had a Sandberg TM4 with a pau ferro fingerboard. lt felt very similar to rosewood to be honest. The bass had a lovely rich tone; not sure how much of that was the fingerboard but it certainly sounded warmer than a very similar bass I had with a rosewood board.
  3. Bought a Squier P Bass pickup from James. No nonsense and delivered quickly. Would happily buy from him again. Thanks James 👍
  4. Thought I'd add to this thread Just sold a Tone Hammer to @Adolfhipster Roger, in the process I accidentally sent him money via PayPal instead of requesting it. 🤦‍♂️ He returned the money instantly without issue. We then proceeded with the sale. Trustworthy guy
  5. Bought a couple of books from Ian. Super easy to deal with and he sent them over really quickly. Always a pleasure to deal with!
  6. Using the stacked knobs definitely takes some getting used to during a live performance but I am enjoying the range of tones I can get from fine-tuning and blending the pickups.
  7. Precisely
  8. This. It would make no sense for them to despatch dozens of individual parcels to the UK. Easier and cheaper to put them all in the UK-bound container and ship it weekly. Not unreasonable of them.
  9. the meatbox has alot of sub that you just wont hear with an amp, it will be high passing it, honestly if you have a way of sending it to the pa thats the best way! it an amazing thing but into an amp and cab its a bit tame
  10. Planet Earth - Duran Duran
  11. Selling my Ibanez ATK300. This is one of the made in Japan ones and serial number puts it at 1994. Great active bass, currently stringed with labella flats. Brilliant bass, I have a new bass on the way so this one has to go. Quite a lot of marks, chips and dings all over it but. it is over 30 years old. The neck has some dings on the back of it which I have never had issues with. This is in no way pristine which I have reflected (hopefully) in the lower price than ones I could see (MIJ) having sold on here previously. Collection only, as I don't have anything to pack it and post it. £250

  12. Selling my SVT-CL, glorious sounding amp but I haven't needed to use it much over the past year. All works flawlessly and come with a cover (has a lot of marks on it) This has a few knock marks which I've tried to show in the pictures but nothing that affects performance. it is nearly 20 years old. This is a US Built one and the serial number puts it at Feb 2007 which would make it one of the last ones built in the US before manufacturing moved. Collection only as this is a heavy bit of iron with valves! Collection from Sandy, Bedfordshire. £850

  14. I tried to commission a HW last year. Initial communications were fine, agreed most of the specs than when I tried to confirm and pay a deposit, he just blanked me. Won't answer any of my messages. Peculiar.
  15. I enquired about that too , it looks really good , I do like a stack knob jazz and a great colour, congrats
  16. Shiny Happy People - REM
  17. Bargain, so only a few hundred quid more than a handmade british P-Bass then!
  18. Noice! This isn't the one I sold you is it Paul? 🤔
  19. £2099 for the Vintage Sunburst. Not sure if that's a mistake. Once I saw the GuitarGuitar prices (£2299) and after speaking to Andertons I didn't think they would stay under £2k for very long. Another price increase before too long wouldn't surprise me either. I remember when some Canadian basses would come in under £2k!
  20. I actually bought this in March but have only now gotten around to posting it. Saw the ad on BassBros' socials about a collection of Fender Japan signature models they had just taken delivery of, and it immediately caught my eye. This is a Fender Japan Tomomi jazz bass in fiesta wash, with mint pickguard, CS 64 pickups and stacked knobs, amongst other distinctive features. I'll keep this brief - great specs, sounds great, plays great, and everything you have ever heard about Fender Japan's attention to detail is spot on. Really impressive bass First time buying from BassBros and it was a top-notch experience. Sam and Will were extremely helpful, the bass arrived on time, was well packaged, good comms and they are nice guys to boot.
  21. Smooth Operator - Sade
  22. The problem, as I'm sure I have said before, is that the frequent posters here on Basschat are not really the sorts of people who are interested what the typical bricks and mortar music shops have to offer. I for one don't except any of them to stock what I need any more even when it comes to picks and strings. Also I don't believe that you can make a properly informed decision about an instrument or amp from trying it in a shop. The last time I did that I ended up selling the bass less than 6 months later because it just didn't work in the band setting it had been bought for.
  23. I remember when Pau Ferro was considered an exotic upgrade on woods like rosewood and maple. Spector NS2 basses used it for fingerboards back in their 1980's heyday, as did Sadowsky. It's only since rosewood had that funny turn where it became an endangered species that Pau Ferro has become more mainstream and thus invited suspicion that it might be an inferior wood. Bass Player Magazine used to contend that Pau Ferro was sonically halfway between rosewood and maple, if I remember correctly. I can believe that, because it's notably denser and harder than rosewood.
  24. Great story - enjoy the new bass!
  25. Tony bought my TC BH800 Tone Print amp. Communications were great, payment all fine and he wisely asked for photos of the amp with our names on a piece of paper to avoid scams, which I recommend everyone do! Absolutely seamless sale and a pleasure to do business. Thanks for buying the amp and I hope Tony has loads of fun with it! Cheers. Kim
  26. I've got the NUX 5G for exactly this reason works brilliantly for me and is far more reliable than the Sony 2.4G it replaced. I've played some fairly big stages using it without any problems. If I wanted something better I'd be looking at a seriously pro system.
