  2. @Bilbo and @casapete Thanks for this. It encourages me to think that there are people out there who can do a job for us, I just need to find them. We've been through three guitarists who all turned down me sending the charts, I sent videos of our band playing the songs, spotify playlists of the originals so they could see the arrrangements we use. We stick to the originals because we want to avoid ny surprises. We've only changed key in three or four songs and that was clearly marked on the set list. It's just staggered me that anyone would promise to learn a set by a given date and not put the effort in up front to be able to deliver. Nice people completely deluded about the effort needed to deliver a 30 song set. I've not got the skills to dep at the last minute but I've learned sets to help out mates. It is a lot of work, I'll live with the songs in the car for as long as it takes, play through the songs with the chord sheets on day one picking out chord changes rhythms and the bits I need to worry about. Gigging musicians are a different breed. The trouble is most of them are already gigging
  3. If anyone in Bristol is still looking for tonight's Friday 6th June entertainment, I'm on at The Folk House with Steve Tilston, with the added ingredients of Keith Warmington on harmonica and Tony Orrell on percussion. This is a relatively new project, although Steve and the other two go back a long way.. Keith was on his first album in 1971! Reet looking forward to this one.
  4. I mostly post clips of rehearsal jams and short gear demos. Engagement’s decent when I keep things casual and consistent, but I’ve noticed longer videos get less attention than quick clips.
  5. Totally agree with everything above, some very good points made, but here's the kicker, or it was for me anyway. The hours. In the round, the entertainment game is predominantly a night time/awkward time business. You have got to be prepared to want to work all hours and that includes studio time too. The phone can ring at any time and you must never say no. It's a tough business and after 15 years for me personally I'd had enough. Also, a lot of it is personality driven, ie.. you have got to be the person other people love to be around and likewise, do you love being around other people, collaborating, sharing etc etc? Its a funny game.
  6. Man this is a miserable reply to a lighthearted topic. Ive played in originals bands and covers bands (and jazz, which is sort of half way between the two) and experienced a lot of this. Worst experience I had was an Alsatian dog nudging - and breaking - a moving desk which resulted in the gig being cancelled.
  7. Enough with the flucking metric/imperial debate! This is "How was your gig last night?" FFS! It's bad enough when people start using it as "Basschatters upcoming gigs" but I've come to peace with that. But this irrelevant bickering can GTF - it's making the relevant stuff disappear with undue haste. Take it to bloody Off Topic where it belongs!
  8. Yeah, wouldn’t want that on a Dingwall for certain.

  10. As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £12.90 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears these seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

  11. Very much open to offers now. Need this gone
  12. £275 tempt anyone?
  13. 0°F is actually the freezing point of brine, not water.
  14. A brief experience at the NW Bass Bash has persuaded me that it would be fun to pick up a fretless to muck about on, so I’m thinking of picking up a cheapish one and there’s a possible candidate in my local music shop. Apart from the things you’d check before buying a secondhand fretted bass, is there anything specific I should look out for? I’m pretty sure this one has been defretted, so are there particular signs of a good or bad defret job?
  15. Fresh Fruit - Procol Harum
  16. Hot Mango Flush - Jethro Tull
  17. Had one for ages in France, with the matching ext cab. Regret moving it on now I'm 73 and arthritic😅 Fabulous sound and so portable. Are you moving up to something meatier? I have the 12" version with the Shuttle 6.0 if you are😉
  18. active mate bass boost and cut treble boost and cut pan pot volume
  19. Put a duvet over it and turn it to face the wall.
  20. Could really do with moving this on as my half pay kicks in next week!
  21. Might be an idea to put more photos up? Sometimes they'll catch the eye more than a link - just a thought. GLWTS
  22. I have no idea but I always heard the mk2 didn’t have the baked in bass boost of the MK1 I categorically can not get the V to sound identical to the mk1, they’re close, similar ballpark, definitely based on the same topology but can’t get them identical. That said as long as I don’t turn the mk1 on the V is great, just the mk1 is easier to get the sound I love out of it. Got a few more low gain drives to work through anyway. They’ll probably all stay as it’s all far more fun than octaves, filters and other wacky stuff.
  23. Overwater use his pre-amps a lot. Give them a shout?
