Going through the spares bag and think I’m happy to let these go… but this may change! Images to follow Basswitch Enhanced OD £125 Boxed I really dig this drive for its versatility and tones. It’s basically two voices in one unit in that the tone control works like a eq curve shift. At one end of the range it sounds ampeg/scoopy and as you turn to the opposite end of the range the eq curve shifts to a mid bump. It’s a very full sounding drive and really fills out the mid-range especially useful in a trio etc. This one’s a bit rare as not many produced before the basswitch guy retired. I have this, their comp and the basswitch iqdi- love their kit and it all sounds wonderful! Duality Duzz £90 boxed Two voicings available which can be swept through with the related Duality knob. Classic muff style sound to more gated fuzz which work well for the octopus+ fuzz synth type tones TL:DR Big dirty fuzz tones in a wee box! Simples! Early run made in Seattle (by Spencer at 3LA I think). Says on the base I can check if it’s useful info. Markbass Compressore £100 no box Works as a valve stage in its own right and a very capable compressor which uses the tube for the compression. Not really keen to shift it but I flip back and forth between this and another unit. Add tube warmth to any rig and I think it’s a bit overlooked as an actual proper voltage tube stage on a pedal board. FT Electronica £70 sub octave based on the ampeg sub blaster? Really simple and small footprint. Sounds great!

I’ve been running this setup for the last couple of gigs for testing, the same basic components as my ‘main’ board, but a few slightly different flavours: Polytune Mini 3 -> Fuzzdog Mr Creosote (Phat Phuk B diy) -> Schu-Tone FLOverdrive (custom BB Bass Pre clone) -> CMC Audio 🤫 -> MXR BEF -> MXR BOD -> Schu-Tone Finn Chorus (his Replicant Jr circuit) -> Olympic MKIIIs. Powered by a Cioks DC7 on a PT Metro 16. Still dialing a few elements in, but I’ve really enjoyed it so far. Little bit more saturation than my very clean Linden EQ ‘main’ board, but it’s very controllable and dynamic, which is fun. Si

I have a 4003 by HW in black. It is awesome. I'm going to get another one this time in White wth checkered binding. It sounds exactly like it should

Strings with a strong fundamental are preferable, so flats and broken-in strings. New roundwounds have a lot of high end which, depending on how you play, could cause strong overtones that might confuse the tracking. As for pickups, I use only P basses now, but have used it with PJ and JJ configurations. Neck pickups give better fundamental but bridge pickups seem good for ever so slightly faster note-on triggering. I used to play dual pickups and favour the neck for the fundamental but dial in a bit of the bridge to help the note-on triggering. Mostly using flatwounds.

Yep, that suggestion was taken on board. Since parameters can’t be edited from the panel, I’ve also suggested creating some basic presets which use common combinations of waves which would be suited to get the maximum variation from the onboard parameters.

they are totally different beasts. I'm a P bass man but have a 4003 for the Jam tribute I'm in. It won't sound like a P bass in many respects. As someone has said, both pickups on but roll the neck pickup back to about 3/4. That will give you the sound But flats will change it again. I saw a Kinks tribute and he had flats on and it sounded amazing

If you are Windows user, good luck with getting rid of all things 'UAD' after any deletions. It's an annoying process to eliminate all folder and file debris. Apart from the usual automatic delete process, you will then have to manually go from 'Start Up', right through the 'Reg Edit' files and folders. UAD doesn't want to let you go, that's for sure!!

Landing the eBay contract is massive for a courier firm so I imagine eBay bring to bear equally massive contractual clout including ‘you lose it you pay for it quickly’ type conditions. Huge companies like eBay probably have more chance of sorting the courier industry than do governments 🤔 - Today

Any suggestions on where I can get a replacement or is this way too complicated for a simple man like myself to do? TC does not have support aside from Music Tribe which offers zero support in Canada.

If you had a budget of £5k, what would you buy
Phil Starr replied to JPJ's topic in PA set up and use
This ^^ The FBT Vertus was only a suggestion based upon "if it reduced the weight of each individual element as we’re all getting on these days". The Subs are 2x8's not light, but small and portable. The sound overall is really impressive and the kick drum was really nicely rendered by them. The 6x4" columns with four tweeters as well gives you so much more midrange than the 2 or 3" full range speakers you get in the budget sticks. The other option in your price bracket that would avoid a heavy lift would be a couple of smaller conventional point source tops with subs. You don't need 15's with subs. 10's or even 8's will cope with the frequencies above 100Hz but some of the smaller speakers have limited sensitivity so you'd need to watch that. -

Evri seem to have improved of late. Our local drivers have always been good, it's been the bit in the middle where Evri let you know that a parcel has disappeared into their cavernous maw and you know it'll be a week before it gets regurgitated that's been the bad bit, and that seems to have speeded up of late. -

I've caved. I'm in a band where certain songs can be done in up to 3 different keys, a few semis apart, to suit the vocal register of whichever of our singers is taking lead on a particular night, so this could potentially be a game changer and has rightly pushed itself to the front of the queue, ahead of a couple of more exciting/fun pedals on my wish-list - but which would have been more icing and less cake. Should be arriving next week, fingers crossed.

I also have a more general question about tracking and strings/instrument EQ. Are spanking new roundwounds likely to track better than older? How about flats? What about the effect of tone controls on the instrument itself? Or pickup position? Any safe generalisations? It's possible I've asked something similar before, in which case forgive me.

Brilliant! Can't wait to give it a go. Amidst all the focus on preset management, I hope the idea of changing a subset of the default presets (ideally the first bank) to some of your more 'classic' bass sounds hasn't fallen by the wayside for any upcoming release. For obvious reasons I'd think it a particular selling point if one of these was a sound with e.g. square/pulse and saw layered.
