  1. Past hour
  2. Ah ok. In my experience it's been the guitarist who wants to stick with backline and "real amps" which, tbf, I can completely understand. Whereas singers, in my experience, generally jump at using IEMs as they can hear themselves really well and only have acoustic drums on stage blaring out. Particularly helped if the desk has really decent preamps which our CQ kit does (a noticeable step up from my previous Soundcraft MTK12). The combination of having a personalised mix at the volume we each want (potentially also giving much less damage to our hearing?), decent IEM earpieces, and quality desk preamps has made the gigging experience a much more enjoyable one for me, and I'm blessed that my current crew (7 of us, in total, on rotation) are all totally on board and very happy with IEMs. I guess I could probably say I'm a convert, haha, having switched to IEMs for the last couple of years whilst previously regularly gigging with amps and monitors for a much longer while before that.
  3. I could post it or we could meet somewhere, where are you based?
  4. Could just have used a bolt, washer and nut for added security.
  5. These were a big deal in the unplugged era of the ‘90s . Bargain ! Glwts
  6. Oh I'm still potentially interested, just several hundred miles away now!
  7. I love mine. It's so eady to play and dounds so good it does any gig where I want a stress free time. Suits Fender 7250 nickel plated strings really well. I spent a good while tweaking the relicing to look more natural and checked it with freezer spray. Bought as a cheap way to get a great early-60s style bass. Relic/signature were not sought but aren't an issue, in fact I love the relaxed played-in feel.
  8. Tbh the clear guard is spoiling a lovely bass imho. It looks as if the protective film is still on it... peel it off and it could look much better. A pearloid one could look good on that.
  9. Are these both spoken for? I’d take both if not!
  10. Caroline, No - The Beach Boys
  11. Our singer will not use IEMs.
  12. But let’s not forget the “Crap fake capacitor scandal “ a few years ago. Where copy’s of Nichicon and Elna and Rubycon and Panasonic were flooding the market that caused no end of issues…that hasn’t helped consumer confidence
  13. I surrender! I think the 150k value makes it particularly difficult, I can find all the elements but not in the same unit. If I was doing this I would probably use a long plastic shaft pot and fit a tube around the shaft to help support it. Sorry I can't help
  14. I'm currently about half-way through the learning rhythm notation section of that book, and I agree. I've tried to learn sheet music a few times but it's never really clicked before. I got this book on the good recommendation of various folks on here.
  15. As per the title really.. I bought this case new just a few months ago from the good people at Andertons https://www.andertons.co.uk/carry-case-for-yamaha-stagepas-200/ I left it too late to return it after I decided the amp wasnt for me, so it's now for sale. I can add pics if required, but it's in absolutely in mint condition, the wheels have never touched the floor... Possible delivery in Hampshire.
  16. Today
  17. @warwickhunt what have you got incoming? And what's your stage rig? How are you amping it?
  18. Having a custom purple flake P being built by the, rather wonderful, Rob Flett - should be ready in the next week or so 😈
  19. Reverends are really cool. As a big Mike Watt fan, I'd love to get a Wattplower one day! Has anyone used one?
  20. That’s the one I used too. Brilliant book.
  21. It would be, and would address any minor hearing issues as he could have a personalised eq for his monitoring. John's problem is mainly that his singer will have no truck with modernity, I think having monitors at all was an innovation.

  23. I had the chance to do something quite different last night, and take part in a poetry jam/workshop. This involved writing a short poem (with guidance from an experienced writer), and then covering bass duties in a jam band while everyone took turns to deliver their poems in a spoken-word-over-music format. Great fun!
