I say this with some trepidation (and yes I can hear all of the sniggering, calm down at the back please) I think this may be a keeper................ I put it together from parts left unsold after a recent bitsa sell-off. Late 70's Daion body, Warmoth full-fat Precision neck, with maple cap/slab. A big surprise is the Squier CV PUP and circuit, which frankly sounds as decent as any I've owned (I am going to test some alternatives at some stage just in case they sound even better). Currently rehearsing a Pixies show, this is doing the job rather nicely 👍

Sold Martin a cab and it was pleasure to do business with him.

Purchased one a couple of weeks ago ..it was backup for my GK550 …it’s a solid amp ..very loud ..quiet fan and weighs next to nothing compared to my GK ..can’t really fault it for the money 🤟 -

Whoops. Sorry! I should say great to hear more demos of people playing the FI on keys…for over two hours.

Wanted to update everyone on our results moving the whole band to IEMs. Been a gamechanger for us and wish we'd have done this a decade ago when we were playing festivals and large venues with our own sound guy 🫣 We use a soundcraft ui16r (would have preferred the 21i but managed to get a steal on the above). We've only got 16 inputs and 4 of us so it's enough ins and auxes luckily (utilising headphone amp as aux 5/6) and main outs. I'll upload our tech spec but we're sending 4 mics + 2xGuitar, Bass & a mono backing track channel from our split to our mixer and FOH and then we use an EAD10 drum module for the drum sound in our ears (this thing is an amazing investment). The backing and click tracks are a single stereo file, tracks left, click right. The click signal only goes straight into our mixer so it's not being sent to FOH. Our split is a passive Behringer MS8000 we send the link out for those 8 channels to FOH and transformer out to our mixer. Then have a 6m 8 channel snake from the link out to feed the FOH stagebox. For IEMs me, the lead guitarist and rhythm guitarist/vocalist use the KZ As16 Pro. They seemed to be the best of their range for our uses. Drummer used the shure dual driver ones (can't remember name). We then use wired Behringer P2 headphone amps but have recently got the Donner ones which are lighter and rechargeable (stereo is via a stereo TRS cable so will be getting long lengths of those soon). For the behringer we have an xlr combiner cable made to turn the 2 mono xlr auxe outs into an unbalanced stereo one. Link here... Splitter Cable you could just use 1 xlr if you want a mono feed. In terms of mixes, I've got everything in my mix except the backing tracks. Click is just there enough in quieter sections to hear it but then inaudible when we're going hammer and tongs and a slight boost to my vocal and bass. Perfect for me and sounds very similar to when I listen to our album. This was a cheap starter setup and my intention is to get proper customs moulds maybe LUGs? I've got the comply tips on the AS16s which seal perfectly and no issues for me. First gig is a week tomorrow for our album release at our home town Theatre 😮 Have now got proper bags for the tails haha and in the process of changing the tails from the split to our mixer to right angle xlr so that they can be permanently plugged in. Ignore the carpet I'm in the process of renovating this place top to bottom. Rack drawer is filled with foam and contains our vocal and cab mics as well as our headphone amps, iems and splitter cables. Will get a photo at next practice of it all plugged in so you can see it in action. I'm totally ampless now which again has been a gamechanger. Here's my pedalboard. The Element also allows me to practice with the same tone as live/band practice so another revelation.

Yeah nice, I like it, Scientist and Mad Professor both use that effect a lot. I bought a Boss GX-10 partly to be able to do that effect - small multi-fx with an assignable expression pedal for that EQ change and Reverb/Delay boost. I do use fx a fair bit for Reggae/Dub, but usuall quite subtly. I have found that even just a standard Reggae bass sound can vary quite a bit between different players and recordings so it can be quite worthwhile adding some compression, drive, EQ just for the core tone and to add some variety between songs (I don't know if it was on purpose or not, but some of the early Lee Perry recordings have some quite distorted sounding bass, and a lot of Robbie Shakespeare recordings sound edge of breakup sort of tube distortion). And then things like that Scientist reverb effect are good to use (sparingly!), or I ocasionally add space echo to the high end to trail off as the bass cuts out in parts like the breakdown or ending of songs, I quite like an ocasional bit of Phaser too. This reminds me that I need to try and make a preset to get near to this extreme version of the Scientist effect with EQ, delays, and reverb:

My top 10 list of things to spend £20k on wouldn't include any basses. Carl Thompson and his basses are always interesting to read about but I have no inclination to own one.

Nope totally different 😄 New Year Days bass is a black 70's fretless jazz with blocks and binding on a rosewood neck. The Live Aid bass is a sunburst jazz with maple board.

Used for a few months …. spec below No more batteries to change, no more tangled cables to trip over. The FuelTank is the perfect power supply unit for guitarists who want to focus on their performance, not their gear. Delivering 1.500 mA of power through ten DC plugs, FuelTank powers all your pedals, keeping you running on full power night after night. With a compact design, FuelTank fits conveniently every pedalboard including the T-Rex ToneTrunk effect board. And it comes with all the cables you need to get you up and running. Key Features The Only Non-Isolated Power Supply! - Non-isolated power supplies also have an efficiency advantage. The lack of isolation barriers provides direct control and monitoring of the output, which enables better performance and regulation. All the Cables you Need – The Fuel Tank comes complete with a collection of different cables to connect your pedals efficiently. Pure Classic Power Fuel Tank delivers 1.500 mA of reliable power. Two of the ten outputs provide 12-volt power with isolated ground, one DC and the other AC, for AC pedals. Each output is short-circuit protected. Eight 9-volt DC output plugs, all sharing the same ground. Giving a total of 500 mA One 12-volt DC output with isolated ground, giving 500 mA One 12-volt AC output with isolated ground, giving 500 mA The Only Non-Isolated Power Supply What Is a Non-Isolated Power Supply? As you may have guessed, a non-isolated power supply does not have insulation to isolate the circuit. Both the input and output share a common ground, so the current can flow between them through a single circuit. What's in the Box? MAINS input power plug, 3-pin standard plug One 5-connector link cable/daisy chain for the DC outputs Eight black extension cables for the DC outputs, length 25 cm Ten black extension cables for the DC outputs, length 50 cm Two red extension cables for the 12-volt AC output, 25 cm Who are T Rex? T Rex are based in Denmark and have been established since 1996. They are one of the original "boutique" pedal manufacturers, offering guitar and bass players a superior range of FX pedals. Specifications The dimensions of the FuelTank are: L:15,8 cm H:3,8 cm W:7,6 cm Notable Points Want to mount this underneath your pedalboard? Mounting Brackets that attach are sold separately. If you have a pedal that only accepts 18 volt, you cannot use the Classic. You need the FuelTank Chameleon or the FuelTank Junior and the yellow voltage doubler cable.

If I had a fenderish instrument made of parts I would leave the headstock blank or use a fake Fender decal. That would be just because I like how it looks, really, it's purely aesthetic. It actually triggers me more when I see decals with other words with the same style/font as I see it almost as "mocking". I own a parts bass with a Fender neck but it's not completely a Fender: why what matters is only the neck? If I have Fender body and a replacement neck I may feel completely fine adding a Fender decal to it. Of course any instrument sold by a brand that is not Fender but gets a fender decal... that is a no-no.
