  2. It seems that the answer here is Fender. Just in case you would consider something similar, but from another brand: - blade, Bacchus, Tokai, and ESP are decent Japanese alternatives - Limelight, one of the best feel J necks I've tried, nearly bought my first J - Modulus Graphite BassStar J was an excellent fretless - Pensa-Suhr, no wonder Victor Bailey played one - Sadowsky is a heavy contender in good sounding lightweight basses - you could source Warmoth or similar parts to a self-made J (with a @Kiwi neck?) - the extra special that is bubbling under: a local luthier that is able to tweak every tiny detail to your specs

  4. Depends how many weddings, parties and functions you're playing down the Dog and Duck I suppose.
  5. Thank you both for the suggestions. Having had a look at both these led me to the Sonicake Portal as well, so I will have a better look at all 3 over Christmas
  6. There is/was a 410Pro and a 411Pro. The 411 has a tweeter and 200W speakers. The 410 has no tweeter and 100W speakers.
  7. Designer for a EV charging network! I think you're a bit better looking and with more hair than me though so it might be noticeable to the rest of the team...
  8. Hi, if these are still available, are they 3/8” or 1/2”? Thanks
  9. I don't think it's fantastic that the two biggest bashes are happening on the same day. This is most unfortunate
  10. I was looking at those when i came across one fitted with WAL pick ups and a similar style pre-amp. That would be a fantastic buy. Gorgeous colour match body and neck. Well done sir. Dave

  13. Not only suitable for, but it is metal!
  14. Hats, bandanas and wigs off to Juliusz, owner, proprietor and pedal design guru of Blue Colander fame. His pedals are truly unique, boutique takes on famous, infamous and obscure pedals - not just clones, but improvements, rooted in great research, hours spent bent over a breadboard, ceaseless sourcing of components and painstakingly designing physical layouts that are great looking - and, obviously, even greater sounding. So far I have two pedals made by BC. Doppel is a Foxx Tone Machine adapted for doom and gloom. I have bought Doppel after falling in love with octave fuzz used with bass for that creepy, occult rock-style tone that immediately pushed all of the great-but-honestly-overused Muff stuff from the highest step of the podium for me. I wanted to get an Orange Fur Coat, but realized BC makes a similar pedal with an extra control (Jolt) that adds clean lows to the mix without compromising any of the dirt, so I had to get that one instead. Sadly, I literally bought the last brand new one ever available. Crooked Axis is a perfect "If I Could Only Have One Dirt Pedal" kind of deal - after all BC calls it "Multipurpose Gain Device". In December I realized I wanted a pedal to be put first in the chain, one that does a clean boost, tube-ish OD (either for separate Sabbath-esque blues use, or to push other dirt pedals), and even fuzz-like tones when dimed. I was dead set on getting EQD Blumes but all but one online stores around were sold out, and Thomann's shipping costs made it barely cheaper than Blue Colander's Crooked Axis which can do the same things and then some, and then even more, so I went with that. No regrets. The great thing is that Doppel can sound a bit cold on its own but Crooked Axis adds warmth and chugs to the tone without compromising its creepy sound. Here's a poor quality sample created on the fly and recorded with a phone (please do ignore the atrocious fret noise), first just Doppel in one of my favorite settings, then Crooked Axis sent into Doppel, pushing it to the chuggy glory: Blue Colander .wav I will try to substitute it with something else, of nicer quality, so far it always seems the my crudely recorded samples express what I want to showcase best. Anyone else can share some love for Blue Colander?
  15. Although a Precision player, I would suggest MIJ for the consistent and excellent build quality, both of which represent terrific value for money. I have no doubt Jazz basses are just the same.
  16. Thanks! Another recommendation: https://oceansize.bandcamp.com/track/walking-in-the-air It’s absolutely epic when the band kicks in.
  17. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  18. That is stunningly nice. Gorgeous colour and the neck looks very nice too. GLWTS Dave
  19. Due to buying a MM Stingray my Z7 is up for sale. Alder body, Heritage 3 band pre with mid freq control, passive by pass with tone control, 18 volt pre amp, Sire`s edgeless fingerboard design, string through or top mounted bridge, exc condition, weight is 4.3 kg or just under 9.5 lbs. I would prefer collection or local meet up Glasgow area.

  20. Broadband duly restored, even if the wiring for it has all but been condemned (full fibre to be investigated), and now I have recovered from opening the case, here is my new Overwater headless Progress. Feels completely at home in my hands and is a joy to play. Martin nailed the neck profile I wanted and I do love a headless bass. Thanks to Martin Lee, Chris May and everyone else involved in the building of this marvellous instrument. We will be very happy together for a long time. Three piece ash body Three piece maple neck Lined ebony fingerboard Hipshot tuner/bridge John East Overwater preamp
  21. They don't. The second vol control is out of the circuit in series.

  23. Up for sale is this lovely 40th Anniversary Jazz Bass in Seafoam Satin Green, I don't want to sell this but I've just bought a Warwick Streamer so sadly this beauty has to go. These basses are truly astounding for the cost, and play and sound better than Mexican Fenders. The neck is amazing and the bass been fitted with high quality hardware and pickups: a Gotoh 201B-4 bridge, Gotoh FB30 tuners and DiMarzio Ultra Jazz pickups and a set of Dunlop Straploks. I also fitted a Tortoiseshell pickguard; the original Gold Anodized pickguard is also included with the bass. This bass has been gigged by me and use for many rehearsals and comes up with the goods looking, feeling and sounding like a far more expensive instrument in both settings. It has been well looked after so is in very good condition. Collection or half-way meet up in the South East is preferred as this only has a soft case and subsequently I couldn't insure it to send. Any questions, let me know. Here is my feedback from previous sales:
  24. I had none at all for a couple of weeks. This one is back however. At the risk of doing their advertising for them -
