  1. Past hour
  2. Ah, I think you answered my question as I was typing it! If a Pulse II is the sweet spot for best value/most spector sounding out of the non US models then I'll keep an eye out. What's the difference between the Pulse I and II? They both look to have the same pups, pre amp and woods for the body, neck and fingerboard. Is it just the finish and QM top? That does look pretty - have added it to the list!
  3. MIddle Finger - Limp Bizkit
  4. It looks like his only UK show this year is at Reggae Land (2-3 Aug Milton Keynes), big lineup. https://reggaeland.co.uk/
  5. The guitars in particular seemed to be a regular fixture of the second-hand section in music shops in the mid-70s. Mark Burgess of The Chameleons is a massive fan. The brand has been re-issued recently with prices of around $3k hence the overinflated prices for "originals".
  6. Hi folks, more stuff from the spares draw. These are very lightweight tuners and the one that Low End Lobster has been fitting to his Sire basses as a drop in replacement. This is effectively a set for a 5 string bass with a 4 over 1 configuration. They are currently fairly scarce and the G string tuner seems to be particularly hard to find anywhere at the moment. Prices are: Set of 4 in-line - £105 inc. P&P to UK mainland "5th" G string tuner - £35 inc. P&P to UK mainland Set of 5 tuners - £130 inc. P&P to UK mainland Here are a couple of pics and the link to Lobster's YouTube vid on the subject.
  7. Up for grabs is my Electra VS4. Great bass and I'll be sorry to see it go but needs must. Superb quality and in great shape. Theres a tiny dink on the back of the body that I've tried to photo. Other than that its spot on. It weighs only 8Lbs 3oz (why I bought it) and very gig friendly. It really is an amazing bass for the money. I can ship of around £25 and I'm sure I have a gig bag up in the loft that I'll put it in. Collection welcome and I can meet up if not too far.

  8. Add a bit to your budget and you could order this today: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/spector-ns-pulse-ii-4-black-stain-matte/
  9. I've seen that Spector video loads and would be lying if I said it's not partially responsible for said GAS attack! The only issue is I'm not sure how close the Spectors within my budget will sound to the full fat USA ones. So, I guess my question to any Spector aficionados is - what's the model to look out for within my budget that sounds the best/most like the US ones?
  10. A used Spector NS Pulse might be your best bet if you want a "proper" specced Spector within budget. Reverse P at the neck, EMGs and the Tonepump pre, made in Korea still I think.
  11. First Roxy/Bryan Ferry single I bought was This Is Tomorrow, although we already had Virginia Plain on a compilation album of Golden Greats issued by McVities biscuits (it was even in golden yellow vinyl, I seem to remember!)
  12. As someone that has plywood cabs, thin walled plastic cabs and thick walled, multi-ribbed cabinets. The plywood ones are your own LFSys FRFR cabs. The thin walked cabs are Whatfedale Titan 12s, and the the thick walked ribbed cabs are Ramsa WS-A200s. Those that are of a certain age might remember the ad where an elephant stood on four cabinets. Those Ramsa speakers are over 30 years old I believe and still sound great. Similar size to the LFSys Cabinets but weighing almost 50% heavier.
  13. I think that's what it is, personal preference. I haven'd had a chance to stand the two cabs next to each other. I just formed an opinion over time that the horn/compression unit in the K12-2's had a few resonances roughening up female vocals a little and making cymbals sound a bit harsh in the mix. Nothing extraordinary and something I could have lost with a better mixer but this was someone else's PA. The QSC was the go to speaker at the time so I got to listen to a lot of other bands and that sound was always there for me. The midrange is important to me and getting a great sound for vocals and acoustic instruments is my thing and I think the 912's edge it in that area. If I already owned QSC's I wouldn't think it an upgrade but a sideways move and vice-versa. I'd spend my money on better mic's or a new mixer in preference, whatever was the weakest link in the chain. We risk sidetracking @Hamster in his quest for new PA speakers. I think the general message is that either of these speakers would do him proud and his band would sound as least as good as they do with a couple of tatty K2's. We are in danger here of splitting hairs in looking for differences, the QSC, RCF, FBT and also the Yamahas are all proper 'grown up' speakers and I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them.
  14. Need to move this on now to make space. Make me a SENSIBLE offer and it's yours.
  15. Thanks. Was this is a special order? Normally, the Streamers from that period (and probably still now) all came with active MECc pickups without exposed pole pieces and 2 band EQ (yours is passive). Like another 1997 Streamer LX you used to own:
  16. I'd have a look for a cheapy fretless neck on the bay or aliexpress. Shout to @Andyjr1515 for his words of wisdom, and encouragement to give it a go. T'was a G4M Strat-ish, found abandoned, so nothing to loose. Son now has a Fretless Guitar for Ebow-ing and Sliding about on... Maybe practice on some cheapy charity shop find, or some thing local on facebook? Decent ground-flat tip nippers to get flush with the board, i had a pair of i'll fitting, worn and rusty end cutters. *When you have pulled the frets out, don't be tempted to give the board a wipe with a fuffy or microfiber cloth. Nope... Don't do it - catches all the rough and tears out more board splinters, just like this! Go for the lightest rub with a real light sand paper instead. I cleaned the slots out with a razor blade, then a Stanley blade, Until a 0.5 / 0.6 feeler gauge (or the back of the Stanley blade) can nicely run the slot. I got veneer from here - sample sheet on the bay for £3, and went for maple. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284926110021 Cut and Dry-Fit... Then PVA'd in... Trimmed, Sanded and a few Wipe-Overs with Super Glue, followed by a Light Sand and Buff... So, you can do it..
  17. As they have round cores I would say there's a bit mellower than the D'Ads. Watch this video, from 1:56 to 2:42 and then again from 6:49 to 7:35, which might help.
  18. It’s black.
  19. I had the 2x8" combo too - really nice sound and very cool styling, but insanely heavy for a small combo. Made by Carlsbro apparently. OP amp looks a bargain for proper quality kit
  20. 14 TX64 Pads and Mounting arms Pads work perfectly well responding to all pad trigger areas and velocity. I originally had 3 full kits at my rehearsal room but have no need for them and most of the parts/frames etc have been sold. selling as a job lot as I’d rather not split and do individual postage. Collection is good too, NE26 or NE6 or could possibly drive to meet depending on distance. Any questions please ask. Thanks David I
  21. U.K. postage for this week a coming in around £110 on Shiply.com which would make the cab, 550 delivered so I’m happy to half the expense and sell for 500 delivered.
  22. U.K. postage is around 70 on Shiply so would let this go for £400 delivered Thanks
  23. Reluctantly going to have to part with some gear. Not being able to return to full time work anytime soon forces the sale 😪 So up for grabs is my 2022 non reverse Thunderbird in Inverness green. Excellent condition with only the chip to the bottom of the bass which I did. It is a Gibson demo bass as stamped on the back of the headstock. I compared it to my other non reverse I had and there's no difference at all. The only possible imperfection is a small indent on the back of the headstock where its stamped made in USA. Other than that its spot on. I kept this one as it was the lightest weighing in at 8Lbs 7oz making it very gig friendly and to my ears better sounding to my other Birds. The bass comes with its Gibson fitted hard case. I should be able to ship the bass to UK for about £25 but due to the length of the case finding a suitable box is a bit tricky. Collection and trial very welcome or a can meet up if not too far. I'm not really after any trades thanks as I'm seriously going to need the cash sadly.

  24. That's not Muffy at all - I think Paul used a Vox Tonebender, or Fuzz Face possibly?
  25. I exclusively play Rotos and tune my bass CGCF, so I buy a set of 45-105 and a single 110 and swap the 105 out. I usually buy from Amazon as no brick-and-mortar stores near me stock Rotos anymore, and certainly not singles. But singles on Amazon have been out of stock for a while, and won't be back until November? Does anyone know where else I can find single Rotos online, preferably EU, but I'd settle for UK?
