  2. Thank you @LowB_FTW
  3. We’ve let this run for 10 pages with the majority of posts being respectful but it’s clear from reading through and looking at our reported posts that this has now run its course.
  4. Japanese-built 5 string Sadowskys wherefore art thou?
  5. As far as I can recall, I've never, in 57 years of gigging, come across this problem/situation in a band scenario. Could that be that we, unbeknown to ourselves, all shared the same views and mindset? Could it be that the gig was the most important issue so conversations of that type never happened? Could it be that I was never on the lookout for new "besties" but simply people to play good music with? Who knows, however, I have come across plenty of people who have a dislike of the elderly and who have, either directly kept me out of a band or guided my decision to not join a band.
  6. hi Phil I tried to contact the original designer about this (over a year ago?) and received zilch taking a spare bridge apart, it appears that the 2 condenser inserts just push in each end of the black plastic tube and the 2 grub screws each hold 1 internal so-called 'baffle' in place these internal 'baffles' appears to be a hollow, harder plastic tube (just visible in attached end-on view photo); the main function(s) of which presumably being: - to stop the outer, slightly flexible, tube from collapsing from pressure/tension of strings; - to allow free passage of acoustic waves from the 2 inner strings through to the mic inserts (...if this IS an intended feature, i'm not sure it has any more effect than the direct transmission of the same sounds along the wall of the outer tube) originally I thought the grub screws provided some sort of acoustic adjustment, but having seen inside it appears they only secure the internal 'baffles' hope this helps
  7. @Lozz196 Great gig. Not surprised you went down well as Therapy? don't nail themselves too firmly to a scene, so I expect their fans are pretty open to other stuff. The two albums I worked on in the early 2000s had a fair dose of Punk mixed in to the metal. And the drummer then, Neil Cooper, his first love was Jazz!
  8. I've got tickets with my brother for next Friday. We watched the original so many times as teenagers. I can still quote most of the film.
  9. Little known fact, Trace and Elliott's ancestors were both bakers in the middle ages. Thank goodness @neepheid's not bringing a Trace Elliott Fan!!

  14. Apart from the extra J PU, I don't see any extra 'quality' from the 800 or 1300 series that my MIJ 305 doesn't have.
  15. This. Don't change the pre unless you want a tonal change from it, and unless it has a baked in EQ curve that you want/like, most aren't worth the money. Shielding is worthwhile, but really only copper tape, well applied. There are plenty of tutorials on YT. However, it may not make all that much difference in many rooms/venues depending in the local EMF/EMI and earthing quality. Best bet would be to change to SC J PU to a stacked or series HB version.
  16. The allegedly good ones wouldn't have known they were good if there hadn't been any allegedly bad ones.
  17. According to this you're spot on.
  18. Update: Received this photo. Blue anodised incoming!
  19. i had their Kinematic for maybe 24 months it's a good pedal , and the VCA type compressor works the drive wan't my go / flavour
  20. Not the best photo but I had this white pearl one made for my blue burst Tribute L2000 by a chap, earlpilanz who I found on eBay,for about £43. Just in case you wanted another option. I also fitted a Japanese tribute neck that I imported to it as it was more jazz bass nut width than the standard one. Apparently you could order the Japanese premiums (tributes) with a choice of 2 nut widths. https://ebay.us/m/2veGqa
  21. Lately I've found myself re-interested in woodwork after taking a long break, which came just at the right time as I picked up a botched/abandoned sg guitar project off eBay for peanuts. The plan - route a central channel to get rid of the off centre neck pocket and pickup route, fill with a strip of pine, re route for a 30" neck and new pickups/bridge. Finally to stain red in the classic style.

  22. I’d second the Chinese neck option. I have had several and they really have been superb. They sometimes need a slightly proud fret tapped down but I wouldn’t buy necks from elsewhere now
  23. Not after shipping to Poland. 36 quid for shipping is an OUTRAGE. Thomann ships it thrice cheaper. And Muziker ships it for free. But thanks anyway I'm actually tempted to grab Disorder and Komorebi - the latter offers Chorus and Flanger tones, and has LFO.
  24. Cheers Douglas. It's trial and error at this point, but I'll do another one at some point and see if I can do better. The tuning's not that low - it's drop-C# (drop-D down a half-step) with the low and high strings on my 6 both tuned to B. I wanted the bass on the video to just be a little louder than the bass on the recording, but maybe it should have been a little louder still!
  25. I can’t imagine most of you would want me in your band. I’m racist. I used to buy The Blues Collection Magazine (with free CD ) for the great music… right up until they put a white guy on the cover. That was the end of that. I’m sexist. When the breakdown service said they’d prioritise lone women stranded at night, I thought: yes, that seems like basic common sense. I’m transphobic. As a straight man, I’m not interested in a romantic or sexual relationship with someone who has a penis. From what I gather, this means I’m a TERF, a bigot, and should be cancelled immediately.
