Yeh I mean I know the guy so I’m biased, but he would (and has) genuinely say if a product is shit, and isn’t afraid to point out issues even if they’ve sent him the pedal for free, so it’s nice for me to see it from the other side, and hope the bass reviewers I watch are similarly credible
  3. I’ve been using ZS10 Pros for 3/4 years now and they are amazing value, but I’ve recently bought a pair of Linsoul KZ Zax 1DD+7BA which to me sound better. £58 on Amazon.
  4. Cheers. Watched it earlier. Good review. Totally agree 100% with everything he said.
  5. I’m looking for a good looking & good sounding turntable, so thought I’d get advice & suggestions from the knowledgeable folk on here. I’d like to keep it to around £500 including the tone arm & cartridge. I don’t mind going a little over if it’s something that my wife approves of (it is for both of us). New, I’ve spied a Pro-Ject 2XPERIENCE, a Pro-Ject Elemental special edition, and the Rega Planar2 - all around £500. There’s also the Technics SL40 on sale for £610, which is very nice. Vintage, I’ve been looking at a couple of Thorens decks. There’s a TD-125 available that’s just in budget, but considering they go for between £500 & £5000, it’s at the bottom end. Also saw a Systemdex iiX for sale not too far from me. I know it gets great reviews, but I’m not sold on the looks (it’s the black finish). Anything else I should be looking for? I don’t need a phono stage, as it’ll be hooking up to a Ruark R410 system.

GP-50 review by my bandmate Lee 👇 here for anyone who’s interested, looks good value still and much better having a screen and two footswitches - just the fact it does NAM captures makes it worth the price alone - some excellent captures of stuff like the DCX Bass and the Jad Freer Capo which can either save you a lot of money, or give you a chance to try the sounds before committing serious money to them. Saying that I’m buying an Anagram on Monday 🤣
  7. Boys and Girls - Blur
  8. I remember many years ago, when I had a Leak amp and Richard Allen speakers, I wasn't get much bass due to low powered amp and relatively low efficiency speakers no matter what positions the bass and treble controls were at - it just sounded completely unnatural and a bit unpleasant. So I took the tape out and (1st hifi heresy alert) plugged it via phono to stereo 1/4" jack lead into my (2nd hifi heresy alert) Marshall Jubilee bass amp, which was using a large Yamaha folded horn cab with 15" speaker. Turning all the bass amp's tone controls down apart from 50 and 120Hz gave an altogether more pleasing amount of surprisingly natural bottom end...
  9. Agreed, i played lots of country gigs in Norfolk. The punters preferred more modern country rock. The cowboys and girls at these events were a likeable and friendly bunch of nutters. Easy gigs, good money if that’s what you want.
  10. Jack & Diane - John Mellancamp
  11. Bought an old mandolin off Robert this morning. Lovely chap, and a nice straightforward transaction.
  12. Making plans for Nigel - XTC
  13. That sounds promising. Also some reviewers comment on the good sound, but do not define what process they were doing when they thought that. I think I may pull the trigger on one and run my own subjective tests. David
  14. Apologies - I do not know the difference
  15. As new condition. This was for a planned project that never happened. I unpacked it, had a quick trial and then put it back in the box. £70 collected. If you want it posted, cost will be around a fiver.

  16. I'm looking for a bag to hold my Schertler Unico, and that looks like it might be the right size, will measure up and see. Thanks
  17. New Years' Eve a total hoot, although unavoidably direly under-rehearsed. No-one minded! We'll do a bit better for the 10th despite not much extra rehearsal time even for that. Back on topic: the modified Little Yellow (KioGon P-bass loom meant for a Squier Sonic P, Musiclily rails humbucker) played the entire NYE gig except for the 20-minute post-midnight finale. That went to the Squier CV70s P. One painful lesson learnt: after all this time, don't do extended gigs using rounds when you've barely touched a bass for nearly seven years. It hurts. Back to flats for the 10th Jan, using the FrankenFender P that's been my main bass for lo, these many years.
  18. Sometimes the strings can drag the bridge forward. It’s worth checking the angle, especially if it was fine before. What lower tension strings are you using?
  19. Bought from Bass Bros last year. Please check photos for description. All original, sounds brilliant. Only been playing at home couple of times (same condiition as from Bass Bros). Any questions, please let me know.

  21. If you have bass and treble controls on your amp, there are 99% chances that it's a Baxandall type, so you already have that mid scooped EQ implemented, because boosting the bass and treble controls will "reduce" the mids naturally. As said before any tone control on an hi-fi amp is kind of heresy and an hi-fi antinomy, so you certainly will not find any modern hi-fi amp with these controls implemented. Should you want that mid scooped EQ, any external EQ device in the tape loop or between pre and post in/out will work.
  22. Best bass chorus there is IMO hands down,
  23. Hi, yes one at a time and all carefully done with tuning and tension etc.
  24. Would've been funnier if you had criticised the bassist before you realised it was you @jazzyvee. 😂 Dave
