Can anyone identify this 8 string bass (with trem!)?

I'm pretty confident it IS a Tune; something based on the TWB line, by the looks of it. That tapered headstock with an elliptical logo; the slender wide-set horns [very elegant, IMO], and that rear strap-button 'hook' area of the body, like a reverse Dingwall shape. -
Oooooh, lovely!

Correct……they anchor by replacing the washer under the threaded cylinder shaft of tuner. I added one to the B string of an American Professional P5 and it cured an annoying rattle. Pricey for what they are though!

Oh yes I agree. Some pedals would need a series of videos!

And a little fitting tip...

Remastered doesn't mean its any better
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
I heard that there was a huge fire which destroyed all the original recordings on the universal label a few years ago.. A friend of mine thinks that Universal purchased all the original recordings of so many artists , and that a lot of original material is lost forever. I think he has the wrong end of the stick , and has misheard / misread the information . I do know ( well 90+% sure ) that a lot of the original tapes of the United Artists Back catalogue did get thrown out / erased and are no longer available . For example ,’warrior on the edge of time ‘by Hawkwind . Can somebody please clarify / correct please . Anyway , briefly I think remasters in general vary . I do love the way the Rolling Stones and Black Sabbath did a great job on their CDs with original artwork just like the vinyl. Other stuff not so much . Rush for example ; their original remaster CDs can be had at a pittance. Now everything has to have lots of extras thrown in to inflate the price . Metallica ; And Justuce For All in a deluxe box set 😹😹😹. They have always been a lazy band in the studio, and I just cannot be bothered getting fleeced by them . I think audio wise ( not too expensive )compared to deluxe rip off prices , the original Japanese pressings ( cd and vinyl ) sound fantastic most of the time , and often better than original U.K./ European/ us pressings . Only imho of course -
Unfortunately it seems every time Fender dares to bring out a modern instrument it tends to bomb with the hard core P and J fans, and they pull it. The Dimension is a case in point. Not a bad bass, but it didn’t last long. Tweeking the existing high demand instruments and charging a huge premium for the name seems to be their philosophy. I found the mid 90’s US output a notch up in terms of quality (coincides with John Suhr’s input, no doubt), as well as mid 2010’s. The Ultra is a step down from the Elite in my eyes. No longer a MM truss rod wheel adjuster and no string though body option. Onwards and upwards?

September seems to be when most of the UK retailers are getting them in

Dunlops are black silk at both ends so it's not them. My La Bella's are black at the headstock and nothing at the ball - what do you mean by "thin" silks? Got a photo?

Looks like Marleaux maybe? That string anchor behind the bridge is typical for Marleaux. -

Thank you @rwillett 😬 should have said Poole Dorset 🙂 Now amended

Tune is a reasonable suggestion, but I don't think it's a Tune. I had a go at a screenshot, this is the best I could find

Bartolini MK1 Soapbar sized pickups that sound like Active EMGs
Dood replied to Delberthot's topic in Accessories and Misc
I've had the E4W's for some time now and have been able to prepare a donor bass to install them. The whole installation took less than half the time to remove the existing preamp and pickups, thanks to EMG's brilliant quick solderless harness system. After a solid few hours scrolling through 100's of tone presets and my gear, these pickups might be the best EMGs I have ever used, which also makes them possibly the best pickup I've put in a bass ever too. I could tell you more, but right now I'd have to k*ll you 😂🤣 So you'll have to wait for a bit 😉 -

Fender know there are many loyal fans who won't stray from the brand so it almost gives them a licence to charge what they feel like. They have a sizeable captive audience. I don't have a problem with the brand per se but I don't feel their prices are in line with their innovation. As mentioned previously you now pay a premium for an already bashed up looking "new" bass.

I have a Legend 6 that was rewired to passive and it is very quiet and the tone knobs don't do an awful lot, I think a preamp might be the way to go.

Should the headline be something like: "overpriced" Fender basses? During the years I have played quite many P and J basses from different decades. What I have noticed, the "quality" is very similar from cheapo to expensive, varying that is. Design is from the 50's and has been there since. Building methods have evolved quite a lot, thanks to CNC. Modern features like preamps and light weight are too - modern. Sadowsky, Pensa-Suhr et al. take care of those. If I go to a store, I see the same colours, shapes, mediocre setup and so mediocre build quality. Once a shop owner gave me a "reliced", ugly that is, P from Custom shop. Quite nice playability, but for that price I want a bass that looks new, is light in weight, has a preamp, and does not look Beach Boys. Fender himself wanted to go on, and built refined instruments with MM, and G&L. He wanted more and better. Why wouldn't you?

Any pickups, (I expect there are exceptions), but generally - any 😉
