  1. Past hour
  2. I guess I should have made it clear that I was only talking about my own personal situation, where I'm not talented enough/too lazy to spin that many plates. I'm in two bands which haven't changed in years, and I don't do deps (because I'm a lazy, mediocre player at best and can't/won't learn a swathe of songs at the drop of a hat or be able to busk through them surfing along on my limited powers of improvisation and intuitive foresight). So it really doesn't matter what bass I play at my gigs, because I make the rules, neither of them are tribute acts (where I agree with you, you have to look the part as well as sound it) and the genre never changes. Also, I'm the kind of contrarian who would *love* to play a T-bird or an Ironbird or something pointy at a country gig, just to mix things up/generate tuts.
  3. Referring once again to Paul Boyers 'The Rickenbacker Bass, 50 years as Rocks Bottom'. He states in the chapter dedicated to finishes that Montezuma Brown was only available between 2003 and 2006 (it first appeared as a Colour Of The Year in '03 and was the only colour programme to be extended). Therefore the OP's bass, being a 82, can't be Montezuma Brown. Pics from the book attached- 2 Monte Browns and an Autumnglo & Walnut comparison. The latter are very close in colour, however the accompanying text states that Autumnglo disappeared from RIC price lists in 1980 but Walnut continued until early '85 although it was described as 'shaded brown' from '81. I'd still be inclined to say the OP's bass is Walnut.
  4. Hard to tell from the clip but wouldn’t surprise me, it appears on so many early-mid 70’s clips. It always seemed an odd choice for a house bass given I suspect Charlie Tumahai was the only even vaguely famous player who routinely used one at the time 🤔
  5. All the very best @Greg Edwards69.
  6. Thanks Myke, yeah the sax is great isn’t it, I went through a lot of her stuff and there’s 2 I really like, one is the one above and the other is Bad Guy
  7. Is the app expecting by default to operate wirelessly? Is there anything in the app settings to make it use a wired connection? And which app are you using?
  8. I will choose the bass based on the type of gig - i.e. I wouldn't have played my headless bass at a recent C&W themed gig (Squire PJ). And an Eagles tribute night looked better (in my opinion) with me playing my Precision than my Sterling Stingray. And as they are performances, looks are important. Sadly, nothing can make me look particularly fancy. 🙂
  9. I'll probably do that for the gig, and carry hand sanitiser. I'm trying to get people at work to mask up if they come in to work with a cold, or at least keep their distance.
  10. I remember staring at that cover for hours while tripping. Yeah it was snowing then, too.
  11. Thanks for that Tony. Great on so many levels, not just the bass playing. Great video, vocals are fantastic, especially the double tracked bits, and that sax solo!!!
  12. Hi, would you consider 350GBP for it?
  13. Super rare Iron Ether Super FrantaBit - basically two FranaBits in one box, with foot switches to flip flop between them both, as well as switch between Degrade and Obliterate mode. One of the most versatile and sought after Bit Crushers ever made. Grab this now, without the painfully long wait, shipping, and a massive VAT bill when it arrives in the UK! Now £385, inc postage in the UK. Will consider the following trades/part-exs: Hologram Microcosm, Iron Ether Polytope, Providence Anadime Bass Chorus, Pedaltrain Novo 32 (hardcase), Pedaltrain Terra 42 (hardcase), Cioks AC10.

  14. I think I'll last a lot longer this year, as all my purchases are done. Last thing was the Neural John Meyer plugin. I did go a bit nuts this Black Friday with software though
  15. Has anybody ever managed to get the M-Vave Chocolate footswitch to connect to a Mod Dwarf using the MS1 wireless/Bluetooth USB adapter please? One of my Xmas projects was to get this working. I can get the foot switch to work if I use a USB cable, but I brought the MS1 adaptor as this thread suggested it would work https://forum.mod.audio/t/midi-chocolate-controller-with-the-mod-dwarf-an-introduction/7003 It turns out that in 225 posts in the above thread, not a single one talks with any detail about how they connected using the MS1. Also searching the internet gives zero information. Connect to a PC or Mac, yes, but not to the Dwarf. Any help or advice welcome Rob
  16. I have found the circuit diagram for this speaker, and it uses fairly conventional analogue circuitry. It is not a high-powered speaker, using three LM3886 amplifier chips, two for the LF and one for the HF. I have to say that Mackie run this chip very close to its maximum voltage unless the LF speaker is 16 ohms. Happy to have a look at it if you like. IMHO, useful as a monitor, but not FOH.
  17. Is there a piano equivalent? Tone ivory?
  18. I much prefer series to parallel in a side by side comparison. 😱😖 Ain't that the truth?
  19. Two pups and a preamp won in an auction to go with the Jazz neck coming from Kiwi, so now I just need a body and assorted hardware :)

  20. Hope it all goes well for you.
  21. Careful Chris, you are demonstrating that the bridge has an influence on the tone, when the consensus here is more or less the opposite... What's next? Tonewood? 😱🤪
  22. Yes, that's a phenomena that mainly didn't exist back in the 1980's, except for things like JV Squiers and NJ Series BC Rich.
  23. I have a toltec in my Squier 50's P. it sounds great, and much better than the stock unit.
  24. I gigged my little rig at the weekend at a venue in London. It would have been perfect apart from the fact that I needed a Wah for two songs 🙄 That being said, It worked really well and was complimented on the tones I got from the rig (GP5, Choc + and Weeping demon wah.) @Rayman I thought the same initially, but once I started tweaking EQ, and bass amp models, I found that it came good for me. With the eq and amp/cab options on offer within the unit, it's clearly been designed with the bass player in mind - perhaps not primarily, but definitely there
  25. Hey guys, Bought this brand new a few months ago as a back up. I have only tested it, its never been used at a rehearsal or on a gig. Needing to raise funds for some new 'in ears' so decided to let this little fella go. These are brilliant little amps if dont already know, packs a punch. As new condition, not a mark on it. £180 posted or collection from Swindon. Thanks
  26. Christmas bump
