    Boss gx-10

Thanks AI I’m seriously looking at getting one. I’ve been toying with the tech21 fly rig the gx10 and the Hx stomp. But what I need I thing the boss will be perfect, plus I can use it for my guitar when I dust that off from time to time.
  5. My singer has this one (if you’re talking about the KZ type), although she doesn’t use those IEM’s anymore. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B07ZQCBYXS?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
  6. I wonder if something simpler (and cheaper!) like a TC Spark Booster or Wren and Cuff Phat Phuk Bass would do the job (given the Fifteen already has hi/lo cut etc?). All I want to achieve is the same/similar sound but overdriven
  7. As I don't have Facebook, I'm assuming the increase in price is from £1 to £1.10? I know firewood prices have gone up a similar amount...
  8. Yeah, im wondering if the distortion wouldn't be noticed with a live band, especially on a smaller stage.
  9. I love his text... So many people have looked at it he has put the price up? From the ad.... This bass has been cut down to reduce its weight. It sounds the same but is much lighter. It is a copy of a fender, the strings are coated to reduce squeak and there are gold look hand rests [ removable ] Would suit an extrovert someone looking for something unusual You are welcome to come and try it out. As with all my ads if its on its here so dont time waste. I have increased the asking price owing to the unprecedented number of people looking at it, but feel free to make an offer
  10. Cool. You've got something that feeds ya head. I get as far as the garden, up against the fence...
  11. Hopefully it was a really old one, therefore worthless, and not a nice new one...
  12. Thanks all. We've had a few runs through now with a very basic DI box into the desk (I've been loaning a Thomann one) and we all agree that it's a little lacking, but for the moment we don't know if that's because the guitar/di combo needs some extra tone sweetening or if it actually sounds fine and is being held back by crappy rehearsal room PA systems. We have plenty of options and ideas thanks to you guys though.

  14. I have z10s and zars. The cable that came with the zars is MUCH better quality.
  15. https://www.facebook.com/share/16VSpnBZ34/ I'm speechless.
  16. I'm just old. Round wound and wire wound are the same to me. The alternative was tape wound which under any circumstances are horrible and nasty!!!
  17. I don't, but I should - I tend to photograph mine (individually) on backgrounds of brightly-coloured fluffy fabric, or more recently on a rainbow rug! Request thread title change to 'Basses In Strange Places' & let's make it a thing!
  18. There are all sorts of tribute bands ranging from those that are the closest you'll ever get to the "real thing" without actually going to see the "real thing", and at the other end covers bands who just play songs by a single artist. To the OP. IMO you need to be a lot more specific about the sort of tribute band you'd like to be in and why. As others have said lots of tribute bands are formed by musicians who are massive fans of the act they are a tribute to, and someone who doesn't appear to be as enthusiastic about the music may not be the sort of musician they are looking for to complete the line-up. At the moment to being "open-minded, just nothing too heavy" tends to make you come across as being somewhat unfocused musically. With the right connections you might get a one-off dep when the band are desperate, but you'll need to be a lot more specific if you want a permanent band place. Also if you want to get into a band who are more than just covers band who only do one artist, you will probably be expected to look the part, at least as far as having the right clothes, haircut, makeup (if applicable) and instrument. Are you prepared to do that?
  19. Thanks Phil! "A pair of 12's is going to give you plenty of output but so is a 15 of the same quality." is a very helpful summary So the key question for me then is: is a single 15"speaker going to be significantly better than a single 12" speaker for a sub? The 2 x 8" FBT sub is not one I had considered, though and one to look into, but seems to be an alternative to a 12" sub i.e. typically go with a pair rather than just one?
  20. Hello, If you have to de-solder any of these (radial) capacitors I would whole heartedly recommend you to get a de-soldering pump.. Nothing worse then doing such a job without one - heating up the solder & wiggling the capacitor left - right to get it out & hoping that the copper track on PCB doesn’t get wrecked.. If these were axial (legs on each end) then it wouldn’t be so much of a hassle as you could simply pull the leg out one at the time.. Bridge rectifier - if you have a look at the diagram and try to understand the path of AC through these diodes then it makes sense where this sort of ,,100 HZ,, comes from - almost 30 years since college, those were wonderful times, loved this stuff…

  22. Ordered a PJB C8 cab from Bass Direct. Made the epic error of ordering it on 26/12, but post-xmas blues being what they are, well, you know how it works. BD were closed until today (29th Dec), so they were never going to send it until today. I've received an Email with tracking reference. Royal Mail system can't confirm or deny its existence, much less offer a delivery time frame. I guess it's my fault for not paying extra for next-day delivery... Oh no! Wait! I DID. So I've paid for a service that they literally can't deliver. Next time, I'll bite the bullet and do a 400 mile round-trip and collect it myself.
  23. The 4 On The Floor low gain drive unit is very versatile and has a HPF and LPF which makes it very adaptive to feed into other pedals. It has switchable hi and lo gain too and can really enhance a signal chain.
  24. Bought February 2025 for a project that never materialised like new except for very tiny mark on back of headstock changed the strings to Ernie Ball Cobalts original strings available located in Hebden Bridge , West Yorkshire
