Played in Maidstone at the weekend. Venue was pretty busy and all there seemed to enjoy it. We normally play as a 4 piece but were a guitarist down last night and played as a 3 piece. Gave my new Markbass combo a run out and I was impressed with the sound & volume it gave out. i am trying to gig with the least & lightest amount of gear possible, and this is definitely helping with that!

Joe bought some tuners from me - great comms and he was a real pleasure to deal with. Thanks Joe.

Hm, I see what you mean. It's a moot point now though as the band's broken up ☹️

Good to see BBC devote a chunk of prime time Saturday viewing to the concert celebrating 100 years of the Opry. Can’t say they were my favourite acts from the US, but the house band were great. I wish the chosen UK acts had represented some of the British Country talent, may be the Shires or Remember Monday.

£50 price reduction Trades - X Touch Universal. Try me with anything, I can only say no 😁 Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

My frends really awful band - advice needed

I’ve a bunch of mates who are in a band that aren’t that great, but they get really good audiences when they play so people like them. -

To be fair, any store could have ordered those. Just take a look at their Facebook page, all the lovely custom shop instruments pictured there are ordered by (or through) dealers, that are named in the posts. It's true they had a number of "premier dealers" though, of which Sweetwater is one. And I always used to see UpFront Guitars mentioned a lot in posts with tasteful custom orders!

Likewise, when I joined Facebook my employers had a 'no social media' policy so I used a fake name, then as I promoted our band my fake name sort of became the name people know me as.

Time has come to let go of this great bass rig. Had this for gigs but only got through one before the band had issues again. If I play again will be going to a power amp/modelling pedal and In ear setup as most of the places I can practice are quiet or have cabs available. Head was a purchase through Ashdown as a last chance with the warranty etc it has some dents scratches on it but all works great and is a powerful great sounding beast. I love Ashdown have had many over the years ABMs/CTMs/LBs this one is brilliant has all you expect from an ABM a professional level amp. 600w 9 band Eq Dual UV for input and output Speakon outs Foot switch option (not included) Size 135mm x 474mm x 320mm (£400 Ono collection preferably but could post at cost) Markbass MB58R 104 PURE Bass Cab 4ohm 800watt version This is a light exceptionally portable bass cab With great bass response which is surprising after you have carried it in. Has an adjustable tweeter and is just a great cab. Weight is around 16kg so an easy one person lift. Sounds great is great would keep it but is just taking up spare room space. Crossover Frequency: 3.5 Khz Frequency Response: 40hz to 20khz Sensitivity Db Spl: 103 Db Impedance: 4 Ohms Reflex: Rear 578mm x 600mm x 470mm (£500 on its own but collection only on the cab as wouldn't have a box etc) Any questions feel free to ask. Would consider a Nice Jap Pbass or a PJ of some sort as a trade /part trade

Apparently, the Modulus made early necks were a myth (rrp of a modulus neck was almost as much as the rrp of the G Bass), and they are not actually carbon necks as marketed, they have a maple core with a carbon wrap. Still cracking basses for the money of course, but really interesting marketing choice from Peavey; the manual literally says it's a Carbon Graphite neck with no mention of it being mostly wood. Crazy but there you go. Still want it!

When I was 20, I joined a band where everyone had stage names. I was told I had to have one so I just kept my first name and used my middle name as my surname. After that band, I vowed to use my real name and have done for the last 30yrs+. My middle name is James and I thought with Brian James, Tony James, Steve James, Wendy James etc, it was suitably rock n roll sounding. Changing my first name always seemed silly as I have never had a nickname or really been called by my surname so always wanted just to be known by my first name.
