Inexpensive? Look out for a used GenzBenz Nx2x12 cab. Approx £350-£450, 600W, 4ohms. Job done.

I think you hit the nail on the head in your post. Its subjective. People like different stuff at different times...even the same time...for different reasons. Red also made a valid point which is almost certainly correct (IMHO anyway) about a sensible use of band cash would be sacking the backline altogether and paying an engineer. However, lots of people still use Marshall stacks in unfeasible multiples. I've been following that heavy metal band from Doncaster (can't remember their name) who've been supporting Airbourne on thier European Tour. I think I counted twelve stacks (so 24 boxes) which most of the time they seem to have to carry in and out of the gig themselves. None of this is rational. At all.

Good score. These were broadly mid '80s - mid '90s, made in Korea by Cort, and very nice quality. Lots of P/J versions turn up but not too many single Ps around.

That’s exactly what I thought. Sure looks like his jacket is covering part of the headstock.

It's one of the joys of a digital mixer that you can set this sort of thing up at home then store it and try it out at rehearsals and gigs without having to risk losing your tried and tested set up. Just as phones have trained us all to be better photographers I think digital desks are going to train us to try things and become better sound engineers as a result. Imagine setting this up on an analogue desk and having to physically recall settings with bits of tapes stuck to the input strips

I sort of hope it is a mod - I rather like it if so. In the first image, it looks like the head could be tucked inside Billy J's bassist's jacket? The second looks a little more clear but still hard to tell. I expanded the images as much as I could - anything but get on with work.

I don't think I'll use them again, even though my current stuff isn't selling here. It's just not worth the hassle now.

Your only problem is that at least one of your instruments will need a line level output, you won'e be able to just plug it in or mic it. Apart from the lack of gain on inputs 5/6 and 7/8 they are also not really high impedance at 10kohms unlike the Mohms of the combi inputs for guitar. This won't really be an issue if one of your guitars uses fx as many processors will give you a fair bit of gain and don't need impedance matching. If your db uses a pre amp that will probably work too but you'd need to check. It'd be a bit annoying if you saved money and space buying the Flow8 only to have to buy another piece of kit to get your third instrument connected. Have you seen the offer at Andertons

I use the Access FX1 bag and it is superb. Would easily fit all of your kit apart from possibly the bass bar stand? Hard to find in the UK though I think. What about the Thomann Producer or Accessory Bag Pro. They look decent.

I'm happy that you're happy, but you couldn't help having a wee dig at folk at the end, could you? If you're looking to make friends, or convince people of the value of your revelation to them, this isn't the way.

I'm sure it's just the lighting but it looks like Tony Jackson put a Darkstar in his Rivoli 😆 And also, Lennon's Rick with extra Bigsby.

I know this won't be to everyone's taste, but I have noticed that 'generally' everyone likes a little bit of mojo in a bass, particularly older ones. I do too, and despite a lack of finances recently due to house moves and extensions costing the earth I have hankered after a 70s P bass with the TV logo. Sadly, I can't afford one, plus I don't play 4 string much so it wouldn't get a lot of use. So I bought a 2006 Squire VM P bass in Olympic white which has nicely yellowed and set about creating my own relic p bass. The one thing I wanted to do was to re-do the headstcok with a period correct logo (I'm not trying to fool anyone here and have kept photos of the bass in it's original state) and a look that harks back to the vintage, amber-y headstocks of that period. I'm not fussed about absolute period correctness, but have ordered a decal online which I like and set about sanding down the old decal. Man that was a pain! Anyway... What I wanted to share was a little tip which I kind of discovered by accident. I'm trying to aged the hardware as well and found online that Iron Sulphide works well to age nickel hardware. None of the parts I currently have are nickel but thought I would try it on Chrome but it does absolutely bugger all! Anyway... I thought, what about wood? I was trying different things to darken the fresh maple (tea and coffee) and this did very little. I was given quite a weak mixture of Iron Sulphide and using a cotton bud I dabbed it onto some bare wood and it instantly stained quite dark. Ooh! Quite cool but too much... however, after another lot of sanding i was quite please with how it looks! Very aged and I chucked on a quick bit of tinted amber nitro from NorthWest Guitars and I am really pleased with how it looks compared to where it started. It's only had a very thin coat of the nitro but I will add the decal and then add a few more layers of the nitro. It's never going to look like an authentic 70s bass but I don't think it will be far away without close inspection. I just thought I would share a little insight into something I discovered by accident. I'm experimenting quite a bit with different ideas but will post anything else I find plus some pics of the bass when it is finished, but if anyone wants to ad their own discoveries about relicing, it would be much appreciated. I know a homemade relic is not going to be close to a custom shop but where is the fun in that! Some pics of the original headstock and where I am currently at. Just waiting for the decal to arrive.

last sunday I did a band gig with QSC K10s and Ksubs instead of the K12s and subs sound man (keyboard player) said it sounded the same, it's a result as they're 4Kg lighter each Will be trying them on a duo gig (80s stuff, lots of keys and backing tracks) this weekend (the K10s) on the deep setting I'm really hoping they cut it because they have wider dispersion and are lighter
