Why does Thomann take so long to despatch?
BigRedX replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
IME it doesn't matter when in the week you order something from Thomann, if it's destined for the UK it gets dispatched late on Friday afternoon. -

When I order something from Andertons or other large music shops, more often than not it is despatched the same day and arrives the next. I placed an order with Thomann on Monday. All of the items are in stock, but today (Thursday) the order is still showing as: open - Not yet processed - Order will soon be commissioned and shipped. Obviously it will take a few days to arrive once it has been despatched, but does anyone know why have my last few orders have taken so long to actually get processed and despatched? I am wondering whether there's a logistics reason such as all UK orders get grouped together as a single shipment until they reach the UK, so they only despatch those orders on a certain day of the week. I have sent them an enquiry and will report back if/when I get a reply.

Where are you based? I've seen someone selling a mint Chinese Classic Vibe P Bass in Sonic Blue for £300, but they're up in Lochgilphead which isn't really near anywhere.

We're Delta Smoak. Played Sunday 13th April, afternoon spot and back Sunday December 7th again afternoon spot.

Read that earlier today - shocking, but has been going on unregulated for years. All it would take is for people to stop buying tickets like this for a week or two and things may change. Same as ‘dynamic pricing’, another dreadful idea brought in to rip off audiences. 😡

I'm looking at something with a Pau Ferro fingerboard but I've never tried one before. The colour of the wood notwithstanding (I find it to often be too light and streaky for my taste but the one I'm looking at is quite dark and even), what's the grain and texture like compared to the traditional rosewood? I've tried instruments with Indian Laurel fretboards before and really didn't like it; it felt very dry even when it had been recently oiled and had a very open grain that you could comfortably stick a fingernail into.

It`s amazing how far bass gear has come isn`t it. Way back when that weight was pretty much the expected, and whilst - imo - it probably sounds a lot better than the lightweight gear, it`s great we have the option nowadays.

I bought a bass from Stuart. All went well, good packaging, quick delivery. He is - as always - one of the good guys. Thank you Stuart

I bought the Laney and I was massively disappointed in it and returned it. I also found the EQ to be very weak and subtle and if anything, it sounded very sterile and bland.

The Sire P5 was £400 new so the top end of your budget although they may have gone up in price. But they are worth the money. I bought one recently in Dakota Red and it was perfectly set up out the box and I havent had to touch it since. Much better than a Squier, Harley Benton and as good as a Fender Player for half the price.
-
I use that combination when playing live, and change it to the Starlifter + Trace Elliot (or Markbass) when playing through headphones. Great stuff.
-
I too kept the NUX, it is a great little amp and the IR's do really change the sound which makes it very versatile.

If you look at it one way, Isn’t it v2 of a MOD dwarf with added Darkglass?

….and two days after saying this Line6 announce the launch of a brand new multi fx/amp modeler that’ll be absolute minimum £2K 🤣 However what the Helix Stadium can do and the quality & level of detail of the tube amp simulation etc sounds like it’s going to be insane, but NAM captures are still legitimately excellent, and so the technology for that will be available for next to nothing (comparatively). I think what the big boys are going to be able to charge the big bucks for is the ongoing new fx/models, support & updates as Helix do now. Back to the original post tho I’m definitely getting one of these to use as a cab sim, or maybe an amp/cab sim, in which case I may drop my preamp and just use different dirt pedals for different flavours running into the amp model, but we’ll see If anyone is interested in what free NAM captures are available this website 👇 has loads on, and you can listen to them with several different styles of bass playing etc. There’s some very nice sounding rigs on there, I just found I couldn’t think what yo search for much past Ampeg, GK and a couple of others - the Avalon VT737 Channel Strip capture sounds really good https://www.tone3000.com
