I have to agree. I like quirky. I like different. Traditional style J and P basses are all very well and everyone has/had one but sometimes we all yearn for something different. But lets face it, is it really all down to looks. We're choosing a musical instrument. At the end of the day and shouldn't we should be prioritising what the bass plays like, sounds like, etc, etc.... As the old sayings go, 'looks aren't everything' and 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Having said that gut reaction tells us we ain't gonna pick up a bass every day we haven't fallen in love with 😍Yep, bass players too are shallow people 😂 -
Line 6 rack mount kit for G55 & XD-V55 wireless systems. Used but excellent condition, comes with options to rack mount either one or two systems in a single rack space, antenna cables (but not antenna - you add on the ones from your receiver unit - rack screws, fittings with hex key. All boxed with instruction manual. No idea what this is worth so asking a tenner collected from the Wellingborough area or I'm happy to post at cost, probably around £5.

This is not correct for the Nobel preamp- it bb is not a parallel out. The xlr goes via two valve stages, the Jack out goes via all 4 stages.

I don't think so. As long as you knew what you personally were looking for in a band. For me the 50 mile round trip would have been an issue. The deal breaker for me would have been the no gigs on the books. My question use to be how many gigs has the band played in the last 6 months and how many new gigs are booked. It sounds like it was a start up band. Daryl

The new one ( with the limit switch) is back in stock I think P and C was first released in 1995(?) I reckon I used one in 1997(?) and it had an internal switch ( Bass) I could be mistaken with Hot Cake having the internal switch however regardless it’s a very cool pedal - my favourite is with an OC-2 in front of it
-
Yep, you've just highlighted the main criticisms of this bass from everyone else, even the reviewers that I've seen have the exact same issues, not just people on Reddit going 'WTF?!?' 😂 But I don't hate the Jackson headstock, similarly for the scratchplate and bridge (I actually really like that bridge), I'll admit the scratchplate gave me pause at the start, but I got over it pretty quickly. As @Cornwall Steve said, it's a bit quirky looking, but in this case, I think it all works. Mark

It was a bit of a dilemma - resurrect an unrelated thread or start another one. And seeing as my build diaries thread on the BC 8" cab has been utterly and totally hijacked, I thought I'd get my own back.
-
The styling definitely doesn't appeal to me - stick a Rick scratchplate onto a Precision, add a cover that may or may not be covering a bridgier pickup than the P pickup, and stick a droopy Jackson headstock on.

Sax is one of those instruments that if you find a band that really wants it, they properly need it, but very few bands do. Bass is one of those things that lots of bands need, so be assured that just because that band has filled the slot doesn't mean that a) the band in the next rehearsal room along doesn't want one and b) that slot will stay filled.

Noted. The screws are made from high carbon steel but if parts are misaligned before tightening or the hole is too small, stripping is still a risk.

I watched the Peter K Lee video earlier today. Maybe it was just the stalls he visited but heehaw interested me. Plenty burl tops in evidence and bold colours ; all on the same old standard designs we had for decades.

I have an original one of those. They weigh a f**king ton. Hope these are lighter and better balanced.
-
Right? All the reviewers I've seen that approached this bass was with trepidation and caution, only to be really impressed with it. Yes, it may just be a Jazz/Precision bass, but every review I've seen of it have all been positive with particular mention of the range of tones that it can produce. I'm just really curious about them, and I don't hate the styling of it, it just needs to come in at a good price and I'd get it. Mark

Hey guys! Yes, it’s another one of those tone chasing threads. Sorry about that. Last month I discovered the band Nothing More and I completely fell in love with the bass tone. I’ve been trying to achieve a similar sound but haven’t had much success so far. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could get closer to that tone? I know that Daniel splits his signal between a clean and a distorted path, but that alone doesn’t seem to be enough in my case (i'm a newbie in that kind of stuff). The bass I’m currently using is a Harley Benton MB-5. I know it’s not a Music Man, but it’s the closest thing I have at the moment. For those who don’t know the band (like I didn’t until last month), here are links to three of their songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_TWr2pj6kqM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo5fE-Zl-V4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHupH9HcnDg Thanks in advance for any input

Many thanks for your reply Mark Interesting you should nominate the Jackson X (let's just call it that because it's model title is too long - even for me 😳).The on line reviews seem positive and favourable but, like you say, you very rarely see them up for sale. And that might be because bass players have bought them and don't want to sell them, or nobody has bought them in the first place. Not sure its what I'm looking for exactly, but I'm curious probably because I'm a sucker for anything quirky.l -
