  1. Past hour
  2. What a clever way of getting that angle accurate! Consider the idea stolen
  3. What sort of guitars are you looking to browse? There’s loads in the UK that are smaller than those you’ve mentioned but specialise in specific areas.
  4. Thanks, it's with a local menders, they had a quick look and thought it might be a fuse, which are all internal. It's with their very experienced engineer now, who will try your suggestion no doubt. He specialises in valve amps, which this is not! But I'm optimistic🤞.
  5. Hi Freddie! You just did 🙂
  6. Oops I did it again….popped into Bass Direct, and fell in lust. Immaculate condition, plays perfectly, set up is great, lightweight (just over 8lbs) and slim body too, and that slightly visible grain through the black - mmmmmm......so why sell it? Unfortunately I’m too settled with my Jazz basses and as much as I want to love this, I end up reaching for a Jazz every time. I paid £1,700 so I’m losing £500 and you’re getting a bargain, but that’s lust for you. One day I'll learn, and may even become faithful. Here’s the BD link with better photos and all the specs: Link here. Note though, that the fingerboard clearly isn't Pau Ferro, although the spec says it is! Comes with Sandberg gig bag. Prepared to ship at your risk, or meet up within reasonable range of Taunton. No trades, please, unless it’s only for a Barefaced Super Twin in vgc.

  8. Have you used any effects to try and get the tone and if so what are they? Today I'm learning Wishing Well, yesterday it was Crossroads (Willie Weeks 2010 live version with Clapton) and All My Loving (The Beatles version).
  9. It’d be a single s/h high end bass, so the change from not being brand new would pay for a HB too. 😉 As so many have said, the quality of ‘mid-range’ instruments now is comparable to the high end of 30 years ago. Nobody really needs that high end instrument, but we do it because they are nice and usually it is simply because we can afford them. I’m a guitarist who has converted to bass, and have owned or played almost everything (in the guitar field, not basses) at some point; I currently have a midrange Eastman, alongside a handmade boutique build and a high end Gibson. I love all three, but the first two are the ‘better’ instruments. I’m already finding bass is much the same in terms of market quality and having had a couple of HB basses through the door in recent years -the only thing I have against them is boat anchor weight, otherwise absolutely cracking for the money.
  10. I took the Curtis Novak gold foil equipped Sire D5 to band rehearsal yesterday to see what it was like ‘in the mix’. It was a very ‘woody’ wholesome P bass tone with huge presence and ability to cut though and remain more than just another bass. I was extremely pleased.
  11. Lovely, the pre is an expensive option (and a favourite of mine). This looks like an absolute bargain
  12. Yes please, a Ripper would definitely have me raiding the piggy bank.
  13. Offers? I want these gone as I have something I need to buy (new tent)
  14. Cheers. It really is a cool one, sounds great, looks wicked. However, I’ve definitely realised I’m a shortscale guy (makes sense after 30 years of guitar). Had some interest and some interesting trade offers, really could do with some cash to go towards a new acoustic though, so hopefully it’ll go soon. 🤞
  15. Any of the above would likely have me reaching for the wallet. Assuming I can overcome the current mental difficulty I have with spending 1k+ on an Epiphone, should they be priced in line with other recent releases by the company.

  17. Has been snaffled Two Notes Revolt tube preamp/DI - £220
