  1. No, the parasites are often the guys that run the open mic nights. They go into a local venue that has had live music on for years and offer to run nights for a third (or less) of the usual fee. For a time they make it work, taking half of the money for their ‘expenses’ and giving out a tenner here or there to cover ‘fuel for the featured artist’. After three or four months they’ve exhausted every connection they have locally, the landlord calls time on it and the open mic guy moves on to do the same in another local venue. However, the landlord now knows he can get an evening’s entertainment for a fraction of the prior cost so lowers what he is willing to pay accordingly. Local music scene dries up. Cue open mic guy ranting on social media that nobody will pay for live music anymore when nobody will book him and his band. Seen it a few too many times now.
  2. This is cool, did it ever go? I’m only 10 mins away and would be interested if by some strange chance it didn’t sell long ago.
  3. Very nice, if only my acoustic would sell. This is lovely.
  4. Haven’t tried both so can’t compare. However, I recently tried a mate’s Jack Cassidy. Lovely thing, great tone and played really well. One is now on my shortlist of future purchases. Sorry I can’t be more specific!
  5. Yes, all included. It was £106 for the cab and £20 for shipping and tax. Took a little longer than predicted to arrive and a few days to dispatch (had to chase a little), but still well worth it and great value.
  6. My OR110 arrived on Wednesday, what a cracking little cab! Partnered with my Warwick Gnome I have the ultimate in grab and go rigs. There’s a decent enough punch and volume level for my fortunately sympathetic drummer too. I’m sure there are better sounding rigs, but I doubt it for this price point and purpose. Really impressed. Thanks for the heads-up OP, I wouldn’t have found this if it wasn’t for your thread.
  7. Loving the new Midlake album; Bethel Woods is a cracking track:
  8. Soaking them in vinegar should do a similar thing to alcohol. You also get to lick your fingers between songs and think about the chippy on the way home.
  9. I remember having an ‘interesting’ to do with a well known London based seller. Had a fender Tele with a strat neck that was overpriced and he claimed all original and ‘opened box never used’. Called him out on it and he started trying to sell it to me, was hilarious. There are some utter fools about.
  10. My first bass was one of these. Got it for £50 from a backstreet guitar shop in Northampton (‘Pauls’ if anyone remembers it) when I was 13/14. Sold it to a mate when I was 16, but really should have kept it. I hover over these every time one comes up.
  11. Very nice that, good luck with the sale.
  12. My current pet hate is the use of mods/‘upgrades’ as a reason to uncharge on a second hand guitar or bass ‘because it owes me X amount’. I’ve never seen a change to original spec as a significant problem (unless it’s the form of sausage fingered non-reversible mod found on eBay), a swap of pickups or pots really isn’t that big a deal. However, there is definitely a current fad of trying to charge closer to the price of a new one because a few changes have been made. Post-covid inflation of secondhand instruments has severely impinged the revolving door of GAS.
  13. Been looking for something suitable for home use whilst we clear out in prep for moving, this is perfect. Thanks for the heads up, just ordered for £126! Incredible. If that includes customs it can’t be bettered.
