  1. Past hour
  2. You nake my point! Sailing may be maudlin and mediocre, but it's like a duck - going like mad under the surface. You won't find many modern pop chart hits with the complex and continually changing phrasing of its bassline. After the slow start there are barely two bars repeating the same rhythmically or melodically.
  3. no I had a black one with white dots on it. Came from Livewire in Cardiff. It's also been owned by two other basschatters
  4. Well that’s the oil sanding finished and just the final coats of Liberon Finishing oil now. The chatoyance on the Sapele is gorgeous and the grain is starting to really come out. The Liberon is such a joy to work with.
  5. It's not a stroke if genius as double tracking has been used since the early days of multi tracking recording. Mick Karn's tone on studio records, for example, comes from the fact that he always doubled all his parts getting that superb chorus tone, because of the slight differences in tempo and note placement (hey we are not robots). In metal, the kick of the drum has been triggered on a second track (to allow MIDI tone manipulation) for decades to get that powerful tone you hear on most recordings.
  6. The mods and admin can use discretion in deciding whether to dekete entirely ot, if a thread needs to be referenced in follow upss with specific members, it can be hidden.
  7. I was never encouraged to do music. My parents were both musical but just couldn’t be bothered I was inspired to bass by watching Adam Clayton at live aid. I’m no more talented now than I was then but I live the feeling of “filling out the sound”
  8. Yep always be prepared. I take spare everything except strings. I take 2 basses, 2 amps, batteries, straps, tools, 2 sets of Glam gear and even 2 boots. 😂 Dave
  9. Poster that went to a few cinemas for Love Story 2008 - a documentary bio on one of the 60s best bands - only a very few were made - i got it as i interviewed the director for a radio interview - sadly the DVD long lost I've had it on my wall ever since but now it's time for a change - grab a bit of very cool memorabilia 100cm x 70cm framed in good condition Can post will be bubble wrapped and cardboard - but will be about £15 - or pick up Clitheroe or will meet within hour of Clitheroe
  10. As an Alice In Chains fan and Spector player Ive been trying to get the Mike Starr tone and just not quite matching the grit. Then I see this video. Could this be right? Is it double tracked with an acoustic? Was this a stroke of genius or something used before?
  11. £350? Open to swaps if needed: Boss Katana 210 Ashdown abm IV 600w.
  12. It's an easy mistake to make. The P and the T are on the same row of the keyboard at least 😂
  13. Yes. There are 4. I have 3. no-one has the 4th! and seeing as the two badges that match hellzero were awarded on the same day as his I reckon that that is when they were setup.
  14. The Hospital Song - 10cc
  15. Picked this up as noodle bass/back up but since got new 34" noodle bass back up - so this would make great mod platform, or at home noodle bass or great for beginner/intermediate as 32" Scale and super sating neck - and no fret sprout - was really nicely surprised on the QC on this compared to Classic Vibe etc as i'd heard horror stories about Affinity - seems in 2025 they have got their act together - I've but medium scale chrome flatwounds on this - which has made it a tubby thump monster - have the zingy new rounds it came with It's basically new so save a few quid and get nice plate with it Pick up Clitheroe or can post in original Squier box for £10 -or happy to meet up nearish Clitheroe on road
  16. Has anyone got experience of felt picks? I inagine these sound much more finger-like. (In the early days Fender recommended "the thumb of the right hand or a plectrum of medium to heavy weight felt, if preferred". Using the first and second fingers of the right hand was for a more advanced stage were "speed and agility" were required.)
  17. I bought these for a project that never happened, used but in good condition, £90 £70 including delivery to UK addresses
  18. Selling this drum kit on behalf of my brother who can’t play anymore due to ill health The kit can be broken up so if you spot something that catches you eye let me know and we can work out a decent price for you
  19. I’m surprised it’s still here to be honest
  20. This bass started life as a Gherson Jazz bass that I bought off @Bass Wielder here last year I have had the neck completely refretted and levelled as there was some buzzing up at the dusty end Rerouted for new Toltec Jazz pickups, ring around the bridge pickup is to hide the previous rout as the original pickups were an odd ball size New Pickguard added and the original pots used Tuners also changed out Schaller bridge fitted Weight is 4.6 Kg's The body is just a lovely, pickups are lively and loud Asking price is about half what it cost me in total to put togeather but the result is great IMHO I will include free delivery to UK addresses

  21. Just for another option for all you medium scalers - Gretsch CVT Electromatic. Looks cool for around £500
  22. Why don't you use radiused long cauls and a sharpie, you get ultra fast and accurate results all over the frets length (that some may call width) in a very few passes? Depending the starting mess for the levelling, I can also begin with some 300 to 400 grit self-adhesive sandpaper, but most of the time I commence with 600 grit going to 1200 grit then recrowning the frets and going up to 2000 grit before the polishing process.
  23. Whereabouts in Warwickshire ?
  24. Pizza Excess. I'm gonna steal that one. 🤣
