It looks pretty good although there's a side by side vid with a Digitech whammy I think I prefer the tobe of the DigiTech. The boss is almost a bit too perfect. Saying that I have a boss gt-1000 core and have been happy with the whammy in that. The drop tuning in it seems very very good. Will be interesting to see if this and the new algorithms they used on the plugout turns up in a new multi at some point.

Boss ABY switcher, I used to run two basses on a gig and this made it easy to quickly switch between them. Can be used for that purpose or to run one Input and switch between two outputs (effects loops, amps etc). I have no use for this so siting in a box. Yours for £20 posted. Open to offers. Runs on AAA batteries.

I am interested in the baby one (XS-1) but only if it represents a big leap forward from the TC Electronic Brainwaves I currently use. Now can we please get all the guitar noise out of the way and someone please demo it with bass?

Off topic I know but is anybody in a band that could dep for us (In Like Flynn) at the Merriott Social Club TA16 5NP from 9 til 11 tomorrow night? Our singer seems to coming down with a bug that's started in her throat today. Fraid it's one of the first bookings we took when we launched the new band so not great money at £320. If you can help, please PM me or call me on 07770 946135. If you want to see the kind of stuff we do visit inlikeflynnband.com and jump on our show reel. Thanks, Mike

You’re like me, I love a sunburst vintage Fender, never been too keen on custom colours (thankfully with prices these days), but Oly white is fab on a Jazz. Lucky to have an original finish stack knob in Oly White. The collection in the auction is a great set of CAR’s though if that’s your thing.

I received my preloved G&L L2000 today. It came with flats, which I really am not keen on, but they sounded fine. I fitted it with a used set of rounds, which is my preferred type of string and it's still sounding excellent. The action was a bit high but after a bit of trussrod tweaking managed to get a ridiculously low action on it and it's playing great.

That’s some collection, Vintage wise ,sunburst is my favourite for a precision, and Olympic white for jazzes, but I think there’s something special about the candy apple red , I’d happy have that P or jazz especially with the matching headstock, be interesting to see how the bidding goes

Have a good one Daryl. First gig in 5 wks tomorrow night with the Glam band. Leaving the house 3pm for an 8:30pm start and 11pm finish. Two 1hr sets so should be a fun night. Our new PA company is doing the PA so that saves me humphing those blooming large QSC cabs in and out of my car especially at the end of the night. Should be back home for approx 2am. An 11hr day for me but i do miss it when we have these long gaps between gigs plus my wee plucking fingers get soft and will be painful by the end of the gig unless i really take it easy and concentrate on playing lightly. That'll last for approx 3-4 songs then i just get carried away and into the zone. 😂 Dave

Right - 2026 is the year we're going to actually going to do this! The venue: https://bentleyheathhall.co.uk/ Proposed dates are either in April or late June. My preference is probably late June, but I am not a total despot so I'll at least solicit the views of the BC massive and we'll see what we get. My plan is to get the date sorted by end October latest.

How many hours do people practice?
JapanAxe replied to Bassbooksbikes's topic in Theory and Technique
Probably at least 2 hours per day, but I am retired and either a member of, or dep with, a ridiculous number of bands. Not many days go by that I’m not practising something or other, and sometimes I spend pretty much the whole day at it. I recently worked out that I was working on learning some 65 songs: - 15 jazz or similar numbers on guitar for a one-off charity gig; - 32 rockabilly and country songs (again on guitar) for a first rehearsal / audition - now joined that band! - 18 West Coast rock numbers on bass for a theatre tribute dep. - Today

G&L are great. Their electronics package is unique, versatile and powerful, the build quality is excellent (even on the Tributes) and I like the hooked headstock - it's one of the better ones out there, it's distinctive, and it's a damn sight better than the Sire headstock. I agree with those of you who have mentioned that they just don't seem to set themselves apart from other manufacturers - yes, they have great sounding instruments, but nothing that's really new. Their idea of doing something new was to reissue the older, uglier design of the L2000! And yep, the stuff about lacking name players is a big issue - the only people I can think of who were knowing for playing G&Ls were Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Cass Lewis of Skunk Anansie (who now plays Alusonics) and a few country guys whose names escape me. And, these days with everyone looking for bass information on Youtube, there's not all that much to be found. I think Lobster and Nate Navarro both covered G&L relatively recently, but, apart from the occasional Youtuber, they seemingly make no effort to put their instruments in name players' hands, and they put nothing out themselves in terms of media or video. Their website is also over 20 years old and looks it. If they're going to get taken over by someone else, they really need to put a lot more effort into creating visibility for their instruments. The brand has massive potential. And they could have occupied that same niche that their founder's previous company, Music Man, now occupy, if they'd just adapted to the times a bit better. EDIT: Given the popularity, and insane price tag, of Wals these days, a G&L will give you probably the closest tone to a wide-open Wal that you can get in a production instrument, especially if your taste in Wal tone is of the crunchy, Justin Chancellor variety. And a Tribute will do it too, so you can get 95% of that tone for £500... the law of diminishing returns applies, I think.
