PinkMohawk started following Gotoh supplied screws - is it me ... and Mixer question

Something like that Behringer is probably the best move. Regular mixers tend to only have a single headphone output, intended for whoever's operating the board to be able to solo channels. One caveat to keep in mind though, it looks to me like you can only have one pair of headphones listening to one of the inputs at a time. In your case, this is fine, since your wife would come in on the L of Input A, and you'd be on the R on Input A, so you can both hear each other no problem. If you have any thoughts of inviting other people over and using this though, or even playing along to backing tracks, you'll be out of luck. You could very easily pick up a cheap little analogue mixer though, take the two outputs into the headphone amps inputs and then you'd be able to add more people/tracks easily.

Gotoh supplied screws - is it me ...
PinkMohawk replied to Steve Browning's topic in Accessories and Misc
I find it with a lot of companies, screws and other fixing hardware are an easy place to cheap out and save a few pennies for them. Odds are good you'll have some kind of fixing hardware specialist in your general vicinity, as I do, so in the event that I'm buying some hardware that needs screws, I'll go to them and see what the closest they've got is. A small expense for significantly better screws. - Yesterday

Following in my father’s footsteps (RIP Corky Holbrook)
Desbass replied to Summer's topic in Introductions
Hi Summer and welcome. I am sorry for your loss. Played Billy Ray songs back in the day and as the bass playing vocalist on Achy Breaky Heart paid a lot of attention to your Dad’s bassline. Hope you get re-united with his bass. Paul McCartney was only recently re-united with his bass that went missing 51 years ago! Hopefully you can get it back a bit quicker than that. Cheers, Des -
Rickenbacker 4004L Truss Rods. Really?
Woodinblack replied to Woodinblack's topic in Repairs and Technical
Well, that is sort of what I thought, but this is a 4004L which is anything but vintage, but sure enough it does have twin truss rods that look just like the ones in the 4003. Luckily with the bridge drop and nut reduction, it is much lower than it was, so it isn't so much of an issue, other than there is nowhere to go if it was wrong, and I do need to change the strings, so my current dilemma is that I have a pack of 40-125s, and a pack of 45-130s! -
Or how many (because one is never enough) 😄

Rickenbacker 4004L Truss Rods. Really?
Stub Mandrel replied to Woodinblack's topic in Repairs and Technical
This freaked me out so I had to google it. I found this: https://forum.bassbuzz.com/t/rickenbacker-truss-rods-myths-and-realities-revealed/29854 It give a detailed explanation (and also hints that more modern rics may work differently). There are hints that you might strip the truss rod threads or cause the fretboard to pop off, and that you will probably end up with more relief than you want because the process is so scary: What can I say? Good luck, and video the process, so if it goes wrong at least you can get a viral video on Tiktok. -
First one of a few multi-act festivals this year for us this Saturday. It’s a reasonably close one for us (the furthest away being Nottingham in August). Sound check with provided sound guys is an incredibly early 12.45 pm. Our spot starts at 8.45pm! It’s just far enough away from most of the bands homes to make a trip back and then returning nearer performance time a non- starter. First act is on at 5 pm so I’ll probably sound check then head to the local town of Lanark for a wander. Just hoping that our set-list isn’t duplicated by the other acts. We’ve avoided Garth Brooks and Eagles in our choices but not sure of the repertoire of the other bands. Hope the good weather lasts ( although the performance area is indoors) as people are more likely to attend if the sun is shining.

Went old school last night (peavey/hartke content)
TheRev replied to Pow_22's topic in Amps and Cabs
Last summer, out of desperation, I dug an old Peavey 2 x 15 cab out of storage to use as backline for a festival stage and it sounded bloody amazing. Not amazing enough to want to lug it to gigs, but I'll be using it on all my stages this year. -

OK, so I need to do the strings on my 5 string ric, but the nut is too high and the action is too high, so tonight is the night to sort it out. Was really worried about filing the nut down as it always goes wrong, but for whatever reason, today it didn't, I filed the nut down and it is mostly ok (I could have probably gone further but its close enough). So next job the action, might as well adjust the truss rod, take off the TRC and.. oh, two truss rods, I thought that was just a 4003 thing, rather than a ric thing. Still, how hard can it be, head to youtube to see what needs doing. First video, guy loosens the truss rods, bends the neck back manually, does them up and says thats fine. OK, that can't be right, second video, have to skip half of it as hes just spending his time time talking, drinking and smoking, but then he undoes the truss rods and bends the neck down. hmm.. then I tried the 3rd, same thing. So at this point it is either a global conspiracy by bass manufacturers to break rics or is that is actually how you adjust a ric neck?

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?
dmccombe7 replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
Had a 3 hr rehearsal last night with the Glam band just to polish up some of the new songs we've added and to work a bit on a new Suzi Q song. Unfortunately one of our singers couldn't make it due to the poor health of her 12 yr old dog. Not so good news there. New songs went well but its amazing how much we missed her vocals. She has a huge presence within the band. Used my Sandberg VM4 into an old Peavey with a graphic EQ and a Hartke 410 with what looked like aluminium speakers. Sounded like a nice cab. Not so keen on that old Peavey head. Much preferred the old Mk3 twin channel and graphic EQ Peavy i had in early 80's with my Marshall stack. Happy days altho i did go to custom cab with a Peavey BW 15 & 12 speakers fitted. Looking forward to the next gig on Sat night at Beat Generator in Dundee. Dave
