It's amazing how many times venues have tried to book my (originals) band under the premise of a charity gig, i.e. we don't have to pay the bands. Charity is a good thing; not paying bands isn't.

Boss WL-50 £100 posted
Paul S posted a topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
Boss WL-50. Performed for every gig and rehearsal without a glitch for 5 or more years until I switched to the Legato bugs. No box but here's the Boss page: https://www.boss.info/global/products/wl-50/ These are just shy of £200 new, I'm asking £100 posted to UK mainland. Alternatively try before you buy in Benfleet, Essex. -
Trace Elliot Transit B pre-amp that has the famous Trace Elliot EQ, pre-shape, drive, compressor and tuner all in one pedal. heres the .pdf from Trace Elliot explaining it all https://www.traceelliot.com/resources/te-transit-b-om.pdf I found it incredibly useful to have all my favourite things in one off-the-peg unit and it glows green when you switch it on. What else could you ask for? I stuck a bit of luminescent tape to mark where the DI is. These are north of £270 new, this works and is in good nick so I am asking £150 posted to UK mainland. You are welcome to pop over and try before you buy.

I think the arguments for specialist speaker cable are weaker than for instrument level cables. For bass stacks cables are so short any losses are negligible. For long PA runs maybe. The speaker cables I made in the distant past used cable designed for repeated coiling and flexing and I've never had a failure. I do use branded off-the-shelf speaker cables now because I greatly prefer speakon. Instrument wise, I use decent cables and prefer my Van Damme/Neutrik ones for reliability and 'limpness', although I have many others.

Laudable (I also worked in public service), but the obvious points are: 1) Not everyone is as decent as your mum. Would she try it on as this buyer appears to be doing? I suspect not. Handsome is as handsome does. 2) There is no shame in denying a chancer the opportunity to put one over you. chris667 has it right above, imho There's no virtue in setting yourself on fire to warm others.

Yep, it's my local. Have a good one.

Woodinblack started following Do you use your “best” bass on gigs?

All my basses are gigged, apart from the ones that need work or a couple of 4 string basses I have. However, not all basses go to all venues, there are some venues where I don't trust the loading and I wouldn't take the rarer ones. There are basses I play more at home than others but that is just based on where they are in the house, or how they sound.

Yes, the Behringer MS8000 is quite handy. We've got two of those (each has 8 inputs and 16 outputs) in a little rack case so that we can use one split to our mixer for monitors as usual, and the other split for FOH. https://www.andertons.co.uk/behringer-ultralink-ms8000-splitter-8-channels/
