  3. Years ago, I was doing some recording straight into the studio desk. My Antoniotsai active bass was picking up lots of interference and the engineer offered the use of a Precision that could have been used at Agincourt, the neck was so bowed (and it had one string too few). Fortunately I also had a passive Peavey Zephyr with me and that proved interference-proof. When I thought about it afterwards, it did occur to me that I could just have gone into the studio away from the racks and racks of electronic gear and used a DI box.
  4. Boutique basses…..?
  5. In my last band I played a part in the songwriting, probably 30% of the songs had the music written by me, with an occasional lyric or chorus, and an even less occasional vocal melody. In my current band I joined just as they were intending on recording an album with the songs pretty much already written, so I only added bits in when there was a stumbling point - not many times I should add. And that’s pretty much me, I prefer to be the additional songwriter rather than the main, and to add in extra passages to existing songs such as a guitar solo that has a key change or change of structure etc. And since ditching booze I’m usually the calming influence in the band, not that I was bothersome on drink, more that sober I listen and mediate whereas when drunk I’d just reach for another pint and ignore whatever the rest were arguing about.
  6. Thinking of cricket bats, there's also the Westone Quantum and the non-cricket-bat small-bodied headless Ibanez Axstar, although both are now obsolete and priced accordingly.

  8. Congratulations @Blondy, you did it, and very well! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
  9. Nice set list, most are pretty standard fare for covers bands, but for a reason, they’re decent songs that get a crowd going.
  10. WOW that was an interesting thread. Nice approach, very impressive. Dave
  11. Great to read all the comments, tips, experiences, memories and choices! Hopefully depping will be a bigger part of my playing life from now on for all sorts of reasons that many have mentioned already. The dep setlist for this Saturday. A few days into a week's notice and seven basslines I already knew.

I doubt it would be boss/ehx/Mxr as frankly if they wanted too they could bring their own anagram type unit to market - and they aren’t going to undercut their own products. I imagine it will be things like is it the Valhalla reverb where a plug-in can find a new audience and compete with something like blackhole
  13. For sale is my Rockboard Quad 4.1 pedlaboard fitted with the Rockboard Mod 1 patchy bay. Used this as my pedalboard for the last 5 years and it has been great, very light but sturdy and very easy to build a good pedalboard with. It's covered in velcro that can of course be removed. Also included is a Pedaltrain gig bag that came with the Pedaltrain that I recently bought. There is a small hole in the case which I've pictured and doesn't include the shoulder strap but other than that it's never been used. This could probably be stitched or glued back together... not that I'm an arts and crafts expert though! It just happens to fit the rockboard Quad 1 perfectly so thought I would list it as one whole thing.
  14. For sale is my Truetone 1Spot CS7 Great power supply in very good condition (just a slight scratch on the yellow paint) complete with box, mounting kit and all the various cables. Reason for sale is that I bought a CIOKS SOL for my Quad Cortex which I then obviously I sold but it still fits my needs better than the CS7 so needs to go! £110 ono delivered

  15. For sale is a set of EMG J Jazz Bass pickups for 4 string bass. Comes with the solderless controls and wiring kit. Doesn't include the Jazz control plate sorry, using this just to keep it all together safely for the moment. I think I threw the box away but can package them securely and all instructions are available from the EMG website. Had these in my Jazz Bass for a year and saw very little use as I tend to gig mainly 5 string and precision basses. Decided I wanted to change back to passive pickups, so these are up for sale. Great sounding pickups and completely noiseless!

Reckon so, I can’t see them having the bandwidth to do everything people might want from scratch so hopefully they have an mxr/boss/ehx deal lined up or in progress. You would have thought that they have software versions of their own pedals already that will be easily portable. Boss definitely do, just a question of whether they want to play ball I guess. But yeah, dirt pedals are low hanging fruit as they are pretty simple circuits and gives people some different and classic options to the dg ones. Shows they are good on the updates so that’s a win win. looking forward to updating and trying the muff in particular!
