Cornwall Steve started following 90s Yamaha RBX Series
-
I'm joining the Party a bit on the late side I know, but only just read your Post reaching out to RBX owners/players. I'm quite a fan of Yamaha basses, I have five including an RBX375 and a RBX775. I love the build quality across the range, IMO it really is very good for the money. This feels especially solid on the RBX models. I love the necks too though I wouldn't disagree if someone criticised them for feeling chunky. I've had some issue with the electrics on both my 375 and the 775 which was easily sorted by my local guitar tech however my biggest gripe is the muddy sound from the dull pickups. Something else which you see often commented on by 'On-Line' critics. I can see why owners whip the stock ones out and replace with something with a bit more Oomph ! I've often wondered how the 375/775 compares against a 765a ? I've tried experimenting with different strings and played the basses through different amps. At the end of the day we all have a particular sound that works best for us.. My RBX's deliver very well finger plucked but less so when slapped. Just my opinion. That said, as I say, I do love 'em and for me they are keepers. Secondhand, they're pretty good value too though beware of overly ambitious sellers thinking they're sitting on a gold mine and asking silly money.

me too. I do the odd dep in covers bands so get to use the other basses outside of the tribute stuff

I had a wee go at this today - almost had a like modulation type sound

Turns out I completely misremembered and was thinking of a different case! That said, this is mine and it is different…it’s the ‘plush’ type G&G made. No fender logo on the front.

We packed the Conny at Thurmaston - standing room only, so happy with that. Plenty of dancing going on too. We even got complaints from staff who were on a night off, but had to help out because it was so busy 😂 I have pretty much settled on the Stingish bass as it's now just so comfortable to play, and I think I prefer a 2-band pre tbh. The Rumble v3 500 combo certainly isn't going anywhere. Even the black DMs are getting to be standard gig equipment. Just the one gig this weekend. I quite like a slower start to the year after all the December/Christmas/NYE rush just gone.

Great stuff mate. I'm not going to look at it until I've finished mine. I have to be honest, I'm finding it really tough. There's some old classics in mine and some contemporary. I keep looking at the list thinking I cannot put that in the same list as that. Driving me a bit nuts to be honest. -
HeadlessBassist started following Fender Jazz American Pro 2 vs Elite
-
Hi Freddie, as luck would have it, I’ve still got your old Elite and I picked up an as new condition American Professional 2 in a trade over the last few days. In short, they’re very similar thickness from fingers to thumb, and maybe the Pro II feels marginally wider, but it’s mainly down to the Elite’s compound radius that makes it feel a fraction more rounded and that little touch sleeker. The Pro II neck is very nice to play on, and doesn’t slow me down at all compared to the Elite.

These are a Chicago Music Exchange / Andertons exclusive, and indeed somewhat limited. And thank god! That Lavender Haze sure isn't pretty.

I saw the Facebook post and instantly thought that's a @Jabba_the_gut bass, then the post disappeared as they do on Facebook. The 'R' logo is definitely his, and his work is exceptional.

Another busy day for “Letters He Left” - 3 songs tracked…in 10 hours. @Dankologyand “that” bass were mega.
-
That shouldn't be how it's wired. I've had three of these, and they were volume, tone, preamp gain and 3-band EQ, so you could boost or cut the EQ curve without having to change 3 knobs, and so you could match the output to the passive level. There is no pickup balance, only the 3-way switch. The gain knob only works in active mode, obviously.
