Rabbit hole now. So if I was doing this with single pedals you need a blend, a fuzz maybe two, a filter, a fuzzy filter like the EHX Bassballs or a synth pedal and I feel like a phaser and I’d run all of that into a fairly gritty Sansamp. There is fuzz all over stuff, I’ve never really known where he uses the G5 but then I’ve never been able to get the swirly squelchy sound of Twisted. Which is always where I hear most of the fx. If I had to do it with a small board I’d grab an EHX Bass Big Muff - the new MXR Bass Synth (with a switch for the presets) or a Digitech bass synth wah (depending on budget) - MXR Phase 95 - Sansamp. Big board (no budget) I’d have a split going into a boss or source audio programmable eq pedal into a sansamp or the qstrip for clean and a ehx pog - digitech drop - jhs crimson or a wren and cuff box of war - jhs bender - digitech bass synth wah - digitech synth wah - mxr bass synth - analogman mini chorus - into a gritty sansamp then blend them back together and run that into a Neve DI or your choice of clean di box. I’d probably use the gigrig wetter box and have the expression pedal for controlling the blend. I’d also likely shove my Subdecay Noise Theory and a Mojohand 442 or Dod 440 in there. Grab a Stingray, that would do me and be hella fun to play. If I was doing it with a multi, I could cop the tones with a Zoom MS60b+ (it has a g5 emulation in it) but wouldn’t give me the switching I’d need live so I’d be on the HX Stomp or Anagram. I could probably do most of it with the MXR Bass Synth from what I’ve seen. I’m enjoying this thread too much.

No better, all hail the MXR 😂😂😂

It must be possible to make an ABM I. A smaller form factor. 300mm wide would suit me.

Long live the MXR 😅

Ryan just bought my Pedal Train(s) and, just like everyone else, i found him super easy to deal with from start to finish. Thanks Ryan!

Hi - bought this on here a while ago & it's lovely, but putting it up for sale as it's not seeing a lot of use just now & it deserves to be played... This is one of the Dan Lakin (Lakland founder) range that Ashdown put out for a while. It's a really well-thought out take on a Jazz with a really nice oil-finished neck, Hipshot Ultralite tuners & the Inca Silver body is proportioned just right to the shorter scale (unlike a few I've tried...). Really light at 3.5kg & strung with D'Addario tapes. Bridge has been swapped out for a vintage threaded one, but I have the original Wilkinson one so will include it along with a gig bag. Pickups are a good pair of single coils & controls are Volume / Blend / Tone. Only thing to point out is the blend is backwards (i.e. turn right to favour the neck) - not sure if that's standard, but not been a problem to me. Collection from Newcastle would be preferred, but UK postage at cost should be fine at cost. I'd consider trades for a short scale bass with cash either way depending on the instrument, but not after anything specific at the moment. Give me a shout if you're interested... 👍

Well, that beats most of my bad gigs!

^^^ this It’s a beautiful instrument and will bring immense joy to who ever owns it next. tbh, I’m not sure why it’s not had more interest, sunburst bodies aren’t to everyone’s liking I guess, nor are maple finger boards. I’d like it to have gone to someone in the BC community , but I guess I’ll have to speak to Bass Bro’s about a commissioned sale or summat.
-
Possibly. I only had a play around with that boss unit in a shop one afternoon several years ago so am not overly familiar with it.

It’s more like this now: Also, you can just make adjustments via the panel and overwrite the presets using just the pedal without ever having to touch the editor.

Would they be possible on the Boss SY-300?
-
I don't believe so - I have added the specs from the original seller (and I think you check on Fender Japan too), but it is listed as: Pickups: Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single Coil Jazz Bass (Bridge), Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single I don't know if these are ceramic (I assume not, but they do sound great either way!)

I think if you see this screen and get excited by the possibilities then the FI4 is for you if that fills you with fear and dread - the Mxr is for you! (if that looks a bit dumbed down and simple - ignore us all and get back to your Zoia …)

Rare chance to get a Kay, if that's your thing....
Beer of the Bass replied to PaulKing's topic in EUB and Double Bass
Unusually for a UK bassist, I started on a borrowed Kay in my teens. It belonged to the local fiddle organisation in Dunoon, they had two Kay basses and at least one cello. I don't know how they got over here, but I'd wager it was connected to the US submarine base that was on the Holy Loch for decades. I had no idea at the time that they were considered anything special. I struggled to get the sound I wanted out of it, but that could easily have been down to me or the strings that were on it. They were round nylon wound on the G and D and round metal wound on the E and A, and had off-white cores with looped ends that could have been gut or a synthetic material. -
I'm depping on bass for The Bonnevilles (rock'n'roll and proper R&B) on Wednesday 9th July at Darley Moor race track bike night, just south of Ashbourne.
