  1. Past hour
  2. Yamaha have been making musical instrument since 1887 and pianos in 1900, which is why their logo is three tuning forks.
  3. It's a thing in the cello world as well "antiqued" - no, if I'm buying a new instrument I want is to look nice, not as if someone has thrashed it with branches off a holly tree
  4. Aren't those Big Splits, hence the split coil? Better pickups IMO, spacing too narrow for me though
  5. Which Pup? Presume Bridge, Maybe an Ashtray? If Neck, paybe a scratch plate without the pickup hole? I just found this on AliExpress: £16.99 | FeiMan Custom Quality Pickguard For US 10 Holes 5 String Jazz Bass Guitar Pickguard Blank Scratch Plate Multicolor Flame Pattern https://a.aliexpress.com/_EIdM53G
  6. @Lozz196 Do you think these will fit the Squier CV Mustang?
  7. Yes...thx for your interest...Bernard
  8. The rear body point on series 1 Alembics were supposedly to make their owners use guitar stands, as the guy who started the company (I'm too lazy too Google...) was fed up of doing neck / headstock repairs on basses that had been typically just leaned against the amp and fallen over (as they do). Obviously this was ineffective with my '76 S1, as it's got a headstock repair (albeit a neat one) Have to say I personally like the "point" and "omega" body designs though I can live with most body designs, other than the truly fugly Warwick Buzzard.
  9. this is my new Torzal on a stand), but the sound is identical, it will give you some idea, it outside & a iPhone(ignore the singing ..ha)
  10. Thanks Phil. Lighting is often very much overlooked as being key to a live performance - certainly has been by me and my crew! On my agenda to upgrade our lighting set up over the next 12 months...
  11. IMHO the adjust-a-nut princible is so obvious that you couldn't really say anyone invented it. Lots of people must have thought of it but didn't have the equipment/couldn't be arsed to follow it through. More a case of who decided to actually make and market it first.
  12. Calling a neck made of carbon fibre "graphite".
  13. I love it, but I just know it'll mess up my muscle memory for when I play my fretless 34". As someone thats always had to live in shared housing, I appreciate the idea of having something small but luxury to move with... That said, you'd have to achieve some interesting wrist angles.
  14. Quick update. I love this bass so much I have just placed an order for a 4 string, 21 fret German Metroline. I am also in the process of agreeing the spec for an NYC. The Metroline is a catalogue item so should be ready much more quickly this time. I have been quoted 4-6 months. I've been quoted a year for the NYC.
  15. K&M Memphis Pro stand. Top neck grab, legs fold in and it's telescopic so compacts down pretty small. From this to this: Set up, collapse down in seconds.
  16. I saw the video some time ago and it did concern the bigger x32 variants. However from what I remember, the ADCs were different.
  17. All this hat indoors talk and nobody has mentioned sunglasses indoors yet! At least a hat is just impolite or misguided. Sunglasses indoors is also actively prejudicial to your ability to do basic things like seeing properly. A live musician wearing sunglasses automatically gets filed in my mental "tryhard" drawer and any musicality dies.
  18. For sale, nordstrand big singles 5, never used as new. I bought these for my cort B5, didn't install them and subsequently given the bass to my son. They are the 16.5mm ones. Price includes delivery (or you can collect). I get around kent too, so possibly meet/delivery if convenient.
  19. Price drop now £115! Inspired by both new and old, the AfterLife has FOUR different internal analog circuits that provide 2 distortions and 2 fuzzes. Providing plenty of headroom and a ton of gain, these four selections will cover all the distorted ground you’ve got. While the outside boasts a lone Mode selection knob and a Volume control, there’s more under the hood to this one. Internal adjustable trimpots are available for all four modes, with parameters like overall Volume, Bias, Gain and Filter. The enclosure is 100% Solid Aircraft Aluminum Machined. The artwork on the front and back is laser-engraved, and each AfterLife pedal is 100% hand-wired and hand-built. Collect from Chesterfield or add £5 for UK postage. Cheers! Sam
  20. I've got one of those. I wouldn't trust for any other than home use with a symmetrical shaped guitar.
  21. My V5 Fretless has just been delivered. I’ve not even taken the plastic off yet but here’s a photo as promised. I can’t believe the quality of this instrument for the money.
