  1. Past hour
  2. It's a perfect use case for him. Meet up half way on the M40 near Oxford?
  3. Hi Brian a couple of things I noticed and I could be wrong 😁 , block inlays were introduced in mid 66, looks like a 67/68 but the tuners have the small R which are early 70s ( my 71 doesn’t have it on the tuners) , pickguard looks like a reissue one at first glance , neck is very clean for the year, nice jazz
  4. The pickguard looks like modern Fender tort. Dark, with small cream or yellow blobs. The edge might have been dyed to look older, but it isn't vintage tortoiseshell of any marque.
  5. Nice Custom jazz bass, body is made from Sapele(Mahogany)with 6 coats of gun stock oil.Dimarzio J pickups with switching for series and parallel weighs around 10lbs,sounds and plays great.Price included postage in UK.£475

  6. Bits and Pieces - Dave Clarke 5
  7. Not soundchecking is extremely unprofessional. No faster way to clear a busy pub than starting the gig and sounding shit. You'll never get booked again.
  8. Very odd to see grovers on a 84 when they ditched these around 73. Very nice looking bass btw.
  9. Price dropped to £550 to shift it!
  10. Well, no drawbacks really, other than the way the system works. The main out is just another bus really, and if it is not used for anything else you can use it for that.
  11. I thought a “sound check” was the only opportunity for the guitarist to practice, no?
  12. I discovered a good relicing technique - let your teenage kids use your gear. Sooo many more dings in everything now. Even the walls. Not so much of a fashion, but they are especially talented at relicing my f*****g leads! It’s like a bowl of rice crispies when I plug anything in. On a more serious note, that Monty’s stuff on the fretboard seems great (though your board seems nicely dark already in the pic). Also stick a lit fag behind the nut on the E string and let it scorch the wood!
  13. Alright gang me again with potentially another dumb question. We're all successfully on IEMs now through our Soundcraft ui16 mixer. We've been using mono mixes but want to go stereo, 1 slight problem there are only 6 auxes (including headphones) and as we all sing we tried sharing a stereo mix but it wasn't for us. My question We're only using the unit for IEMs never FOH so can I just use the Main outs for an additional stereo IEM mix? What would the drawbacks be and how would I avoid affecting any of other aux mixes. I'm the most technical in the band (lol!) so I would lock down the other auxes so that each member can only access their own aux and I'd control the rest. Our setup will be almost identical night to night as we'll be using the same mics for everything bar the 2 guitarists. All vocal and drum mics will be the same so hopefully there won't be too much messing about. If this is a BA then we might just save up a bit more and get the ui24r but would rather not if this is possible.
  14. It was a soundcraft desk, although I did occasionally use a huge Allen and Heath. The other fun thing you could do with this arrangement is essentially a bass drop - so cut all the low frequencies out for the intro or other parts of a song and then send it all back in as needed. Not entirely useful but there were one or two songs in the set where this could give quite a nice lift - Wild Cherry "Play that Funky Music"- was one.
  15. Hi yes it's all working, feel free to message me 👍
  16. Free reverb available till the 22nd of May here: https://www.soundtoys.com/product/spaceblender/ SpaceBlender is your portal to a new dimension of space and time effects. It’s an experimental reverb that lets you create unreal and imaginary spaces – shapes, textures, and tones otherwise impossible in the real world. Not had a chance to have a play yet, but the site I found it on said that another reverb hasn't impressed them the same way since Valhalla (which is also free and worth having for all of your psychedelic space sounds!).
  17. That's a really kind offer - we have a 17 year old bass player who is in need of an amp so I tried to give him one of my Trace Elliot combos but after trying to pick it up he asked if I could give him a preamp with a headphone out instead - youth of today aren't as rock 'n roll as we were! This looks far more sensible for church use although I'm too far away.
  18. It was intentional. Congrats on spotting the irony.
  19. Three John Mayall CDs on the US Forty Below label. Played once or unplayed. All well reviewed, The Sun is Going Down features guest guitarists like Mike Campbell and Carolyn Wonderland. £16 posted UK. Now £14

  20. Yes. Yes I am. Please don't hold back. I'm not a snowflake.
  21. It's up to the trademark/copyright owner to instigate any legal proceedings. As for the Muppet owner, the term has become common usage and the image style is pervasive. From an alternative perspective it might be the case that these images actually generate interest in The Muppets. I remember one of my most active musical times was when I used to download from Pirate Bay - I'd try stuff and buy albums or go to gigs. Technically it was verbotten, but factually it generated income for the industry.
  22. Hi there. I’m interested in this preamp. All working, I take it? Arnie
  23. Agreed, but while it's easy to see the problem with generative processes, predictive AI still has huge limitations, many of which are being overlooked
  24. No, Mark is using his Jaydees again nowadays, no apostrophe needed. Pedant revenge, there... 😉
