krispn started following Doom2 Latest release
-
Hey folks. I got this in the recent drop but typically my existing fuzz does what I want it to in a more specific and suitable way with my octave pedal. The doom is legendary for its funky, synth-like voice (Moog-like). While I’ve had a lot of fun playing with it it’s just not fitting in with the sounds I need and I prefer my other fuzz for the sounds I’m needing. It’s more wall of synth rather than those funky moog tones. I’m gutted but hey ho! Now I know!! The beauty of the Doom is its range and it works well as a regular fuzz and the controls are beautifully realised - it’s way more versatile than folks may expect and with the gain down can be always on low gain tone enhancer. OKay before I talk myself out of it. The price reflects shipping, taxes, exchange rate charges form the bank and is probably lower than what’s being asked on Reverb etc. genuinely not out to scalp just recouping the total cost.

The helicopters flying rich Londoners in to the festival are busy. There's one going over about every 5 - 10 minutes today.

My best mate (a professional pianist of 40 years standing) has recently developed it. The MU sent him to a proper music audiologist in Manchester. They gave him earplugs. So if you're a member, it's worth calling. First step should be a trip to the GP. And a hearing test - many forms of tinnitus and hearing loss can be mitigated. The absolute worst thing you can do is hope it goes away.

MacDaddy started following Tinnitus!!!!!!!
-
Disagree, IME that's the worst thing to do. The advice I got from an audiologist was to concentrate on it, and listen to it, and eventually your brain reaches a point where it tunes it out automatically. For me this has worked, and it is so much better than it used to be to the point that I can now ignore it. I always wanted to tune it, so that it was a specific pitch and useful for tuning. Never happened though 😆

Budget transparrent class D amp heads ~300W?
Tech21NYC replied to DocTrucker's topic in Amps and Cabs
Class D is the operational class of an amplifier. SS power amps are by design meant to be flat response and shouldn't "sound" different when run in their linear operational range. The big advantage of Class D is the power efficiency and the resulting lower weight when compared with Class A, AB, G and H etc. When we were making amps our VT Bass 1969 and 1000 heads were offered in both 300 watt Class AB and D and 1000 watt Class D platforms. They sounded the same. Now our dUg Ultra Bass 1000 amplifier sounded drastically different from our VT Bass 1000 but that was due to the unique preamp section. The Class D power sections were identical. -
Yep, they have switched sockets, there is no power on that.

I think "tool" is not an unreasonable word to describe the buyer in this moment, but you may not agree and that's fine. Being unhappy with your purchase is understandable, but asking for compensation as well as a refund makes the buyer look unreasonable. I don't think anyone who makes demands of that nature to a business is acting honourably. Amongst a group of their peers ( like this forum) I doubt you'd find many who agreed. And if he is a member of this forum he hasn't tried to justify his reasons for claiming above and beyond. He's just a beginner now, but @Silky999 may well make the best basses in the world in the future. If enough people do things like this, he'll stop. It's bad news for all of us. Either way, he's stopped contacting the seller, so no harm done. @Silky999 - let's see some of these creations!

Well in my experience with rehearsal rooms, any amp i took to use with their cabs sounded pretty similar. I did obviously hear a difference, but the cab would colour the amp. It was only when i took my full rig did i get the sound i wanted and had at gigs.

Rodders started following Most Round-Like Flats
-
Recently gone back to Rotosound flats, the SM77 Hybrid Gauge 100-40, put them on my G&L Trib M-2000, much easier for me to EQ than the NPS rounds I had on it. Because the Rotos seem to have a good mid content and less harmonics they sounded great in a rock trio mix, plus the lighter gauge means they are similar in feel to standard gauge rounds (to me at least).
-
I suppose it’s true in-as-much-as your front of house sound. Onstage, as you say, with cab/amp variations, it’s a different story. Si

I can paint the baffle any colour you like as long as it's British Racing Green. 😀 Only joking.... if you want a different coloured baffle, you just need to give me the paint reference (RAL number ideally). There's no extra charge.

When it comes to the arts, we have such a stupid system that you need to beg for cash with the only money allocated based on the estimated economic impact of your work (which is, in most cases, entirely made up anyway). The entire classical music world – apart form a few exceptions – is funded through grants because to expose it to the market would see its demise. Societally, we need to find other ways to value the skills and to fund them. If we could break free from the moral objections to a UBI, we'd be much better off. Be a lot simpler than pretending that there are enough jobs to go around (when there clearly aren't and probably won't ever be again in the future...)

The wood looks nice. I'd expect a stained finish to look good. -

It’s your bass, so go ahead if that’s what you really want to do. Unfortunately, most of the audience and the rest of the band likely won’t give a fizz about it.
