  2. Are you talking a used Squier CV Jazz bass? If so, go for it. The Crafted In China CVs were among the best Squiers made. Nothing intrinsically wrong with the Vintera, but it's nothing special.
  3. Nice, thanks - Will let you get back to it! Anyone else reading - Great synth, well worth a purchase!
  4. Bought a Hipshot bridge from Vin. A stress-free transaction and nice to have a chat about all things bass when I came to collect. Cheers!
  5. Zinc Fence City - Jah Lil
  6. Laney RBH800, 300 watt, bought as a beater to leave at a rehearsal space, now surplus to requirements. Works perfectly. Collection or meet up reasonable distance from Norfolk/Suffolk border.

  7. BTW thanks for the info on HB and meths - that's a good price for 500ml! I could use a top-up
  8. The ones I linked to are actually being sold in the Amazon D'addario shop, and the 3 sets I've had so far have all been legit.
  9. I’m a big fan of the sh!t sandwich. Start with something positive, then deliver the bad news, finish with another positive. But only if you’re asked.
  10. What I'm about to say has already been said, but I'll regurgitate it anyway.... What you do depends on how good a mate your friend is and how you think he'd take your critique. When I have non muso mates at gigs and they give their opinion, mostly it's 'yeah, that was great' and I just sweep it under the rug. They're just saying that to be polite or, hopefully, it did sound good and they actually enjoyed it! I have a few mates in bands that I know will give honest feedback and they're the ones I listen to most. We've talked about this and I do the same for them, it really helps to have mates that can hear what needs to be tighter and offer feedback. We even check in with each other mid first song to get an idea of levels etc. Whether the form of feedback is 'that was crap' or 'that could be improved' is down to your friendship, I guess.
  11. Copperhead Road - Steve Earle
  12. Yeah, this looks more like what I'd expect to see on a tweeter in my car. And as far as I can tell all that little guy adds is some fret noise for slappers. But I'm not the best judge since I can't hear much above 10k anymore anyway.
  13. Price Drop To £325
  14. U.K. postage is around 70 on Shiply so would let this go for £400 delivered Thanks
  15. Nerina Pallot at The Fiery Bird in Woking.... Intimate venue with over 100 in. Beautiful songs, beautiful voice and beautiful lady singing them. Sunday night's don't get any better....
  16. My kingdom for companies to announce things without making me watch a bloody video
  17. I have a Vester Catalina P-bass copy. Gigged it a few times way back when, did the job.
  18. Sounds like the band would do a Les Dawson alternate version 🙂
  19. 10 FEET!?!? That’s some nut! 🤣🤣🤣 GLWTS, it’s a lovely thing, all joking apart

  21. Brass In Pocket - The Pretenders
  22. It was indeed a cheap Korean brand that came out in the mid 80's, and lasted through the 90's. Nothing to fancy there, cheap instruments from the bad Korean period. Tried a few at the Musikmesse in Frankfurt back then, but none of them were great.
  23. I’ll just wait for the Harley Benton version for £500 in yellow 🙂
  24. This is a great price for an excellent bass. The Contemporary series as a whole is nothing like the more visible Ignition basses. For a start, the neck is “floating” - I.e. there’s a gap beneath it, north of the neck pickup - which adds to the instrument’s resonance and authenticity, and also means you can use the proper Hofner strap. The sound is much fuller and somehow “richer” than the Ignition too, and the control plate is also authentic, with the “upside down “ bass and treble switches. Essentially, it’s a completely different instrument. GLWTS.
  25. So we’re thinking of upgrading our PA. Current system is Behringer XR18, dBX DriveRack PA, an old pair of Peavey Pro 15 powered subs, and a pair of EV ZLX15P tops. As we’re all using in-ears now, and with most of us having the gear to go amp-less, we’re thinking of going down that route. The band is a southern rock five-piece (2 x guitar, bass, drums, fiddle) and we play everything from small pubs to largish clubs. I’m looking to get a good solid kick drum and get increased vocal headroom as we, on occasion, run out of headroom. There is lots of chat on here about how to get a great sound with minimal kit, but if you had a budget of £5k, what would you buy? To give you a steer, I’m old school, so I don’t see us going out without subs, and I’d not rule out going back to passive cabs if it reduced the weight of each individual element as we’re all getting on these days.
