Worst bass tone ive ever heard, but largest kick drum ive ever seen 😂 Not a huge fan of the grungy Numan band, but enjoyed the set after the first two songs were out of the way. My dad was a massive Gary Numan fan back in the day. He's text me to say "are you watching Glastonbury Festival H? Gary Numan one of my favourites he don't half look strange now" Quote

Definitely a few odd time signatures in there, almost prog rock at times. They did a gig for Radio 1 a couple of months ago which I watched on iplayer. Top rate live band with some huge songs I'm a bit puzzled as why they're not much bigger. Edited June 28 by Cato 1 Quote

That GnR set from a couple of years ago still makes me cringe just thinking about it - such was the "quality" of Axl Rose's "singing". Aye, I was more trying to ‘lighten the mood’ a bit. I loved the LP painted with the blue check to match his shirt! Doing amazingly for 80! 1 Quote

Bland sells, that's why Coldplay and Taylor Swift are huge and Biffy Clyro and Osees aren't 1 Quote

Went to the first few tours back in the lat 70’s, early 80’s. Always had a soft spot for his music but it seemed to get a bit too off track for me. Going to see him in Nov on the Telekon tour, but mainly as a nostalgia trip. Love the old. Old stuff, not a fan of the more modern Numan. and WTF was the guitarist playing in the solo on Down in the park 😂 Edited June 28 by dave_bass5 Quote
SteveXFR Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I love how Gary Numan was a huge influence on Nine Inch Nails and helped Trent Reznor get started and now Numan is sounding more like Nine Inch Nails. For his live performances, he plays a lot of modern stuff and has modernised the old stuff with more of that industrial sound and more guitar. Quote
taunton-hobbit Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I was idly watching on I Player & it occured to me that I wasn't seeing much in the way of Palestine flags (if any), then I noticed what looked like some clever trickery where a sort of 'rural' image was appearing on some flags, I'm sure it was an 'instant imposition' thing .......................... 😎 Quote

Misdee Posted June 28 Posted June 28 (edited) To be fair, there's something timeless about Neil Young. He still sounds just like he always has; shambolic. That's his great strength, though. Long may he continue. Edited June 28 by Misdee 4 1 Quote

He's come a long way on four chords and an untuned guitar but as you say, despite everything he does, there's something timeless about him ..........and long may he continue. Watching NY, I am just so pleased that Spooner Oldham ( at 82) is still alive and kicking on keyboards. A wonderful musician / writer who’s been playing in Neil’s band on and off for decades. Saw him at an intimate gig in Manchester in the late 90’s where he was performing with Dan Penn, absolutely brilliant. 6 Quote
dave_bass5 Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Thought Amyl and the sniffers were quite energetic. Never heard of them before but quite enjoyed them. Quote
Hobbayne Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Is it my telly or did John Fogerty sound really empty? Most of the band had mikes but there was no backing vocals at all. In fact John kept turning away from his mike so often, it sounded like an instrumental karaoke show. 😐 1 1 Quote

It was like watching someone with hearing difficulties / a severe speech impediment - & often out of tune especially in the early part of his set. Really disappointing. His band were great though. 2 Quote
