I would have done it differently. I might have drilled the holes from the backside but stoped beforeĀ  they pass to the frontside.

the back has someĀ routingĀ out as well. It balances quite well, 'cos i now put the strap on the bolt on the front instead of the normal place

Someone has already mentioned Russ Ballard. I remember an early Precision (1956 I believe) being advertised on eBay that looked perfect but the description mentioned it had been heavilyĀ drilled underneath the scratchplate to lighten it.
