I’ve just put the Valenti up for sale to make a particular purchase but it has been nice having both around this week. The Skyline’s neck shaping, fretting, action and general feel is excellent (my first Lakland)A3CA5D61-0627-4CD4-A557-9BA30CDBEEAD.thumb.jpeg.69317dc2ec1549ceabec5737f0eee25f.jpeg

'96 MIJ 62 reissue, my main gigging bass for 25 years, bought new and recently sold. A good workhorse, very roadworthy, played well, but I guess I got bored with it.

I replaced it with a 2006 Aerodyne Jazz, non-export. A very good bass, well put together, comfortable, nice neck, and sounds nice with a good range of tone. I'll be keeping this.

Recently got a 2020 Custom Shop '60. It's a dream to play, and sounds magnificent. A beautiful thing.

A few jazzes here! :)

- 1972 (sunburst & tort - pickup covers now removed!)

- 1969 (natural & tort - replacement fretboard, bought right here on BC)

- AVRI ‘62 reissue (Lake placid blue W/ matching headstock - refinish)

- Geddy Lee (CIJ model w/ mirror pickguard)

I’ve had a couple of others over the years, including a 2012 USA Jazz and a Lakland Skyline J-Sonic.

My MIJ 75ri in Bass Corner of the studio.  Quite heavy but a thump to die for and thats coming from a dyed in the wool P bass man!  Rescued from a dark corner of a crack converters in non-working condition. Needed a kiogon harness and i opted for a set of Wizard 84’s.  she wears Elites Groundwounds and sounds every bit as good as she looks.

Could never see the appeal of a Jazz. Owned a Fender player standard and a G&L and neither set my pants on fire like the Precision.

But the Geddy Lee jazz that Mrs Bassfinger bought me for our anniversary has totally changed all that. I can't put the damn thing down.

Fullerton's finest...

The 62 re-ish has to be the best thing ever to come out of that factory.

This one on the left has played almost a thousand performances in almost as many absolute s***-holes.

It's been knocked off it's stand, had bottles broken on it, been covered in beer, blood and myriad other questionable fluids.

I was unhappy with the nut when I bought it from Wapping in 1983. Charlie Chandler obliged.

A Roto 66 custom set was put on at that time and of course it was re-set.

The strings are still the same ones...    and have been boiled twice.

The frets are still ace.

The action and intotation always were and still are excellent.

It sounds like everything you want a Jazz to sound like.

It's been cleaned once.

It's still goes to work now and again...

It’s evolving and I’m getting quite happy with it.

I had to change the truss rod bolt, that was a task in its self finding the right one. I feel I should should panic buy a few bags of them after the haste of that !!!!

But anyways, I collected a few other parts while it was out of action and have now put it all together.
