Well being that Bernard Edwards bassline for Chic's "Good Times" also appears in Michelle Gayles "Happy Just to be with You", The Sugar Hill Gangs "Rapper's Delight", Will Smith's "It's all good", Beverley Knight's "Made it Back" and I think all were pretty big sellers - then this is THE bass line everyone probably recognises most (musicians and the general listener).

EDIT: Even has it's own wiki page [url="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Times_(Chic_song)"]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Good_Times_(Chic_song)[/url] :)

EDIT2: Oh and for people with no interest in music it's got to be that small fragmant of Fleetwood Mac's The Chain, solely because it's the F1 theme

EDIT: Then again it's played in unison with the guitar maybe peope wouldn't even notice the bass, so you may well be right :)

EDIT2: If you're a certain age - MC Hammer's Can't touch this is pretty recognisable
