1. My pass-the-bucket list of shame: - That stupid Warwick Reverso abomination. - Alembic Dragon's Wing. - Big AL - Bongo - Everything made by these people and these people. - Much of BC Rich's output. - Sparkly Italias etc. Rich (refusing to 'justify' my 'coffee table' bass to anyone)
2.
Mine wasn't pants, I wish I still had it.
Still got mine, it's still pants paid £25 for it. It's worth at least that.
3. I have orange side LEDs on my Shuker... the colour goes nicely with the baccy sunburst body, I think. The gorgeous walnut Sei Flamboyant I used to own had blue ones. They were nice too. I find the side LEDs a godsend on dark stages, but I wouldn't have front LEDs if you paid me. Well yeah, I would. I just wouldn't switch them on.

Im Back

I think anyone who ever posts a "thinking of selling up" thread should be shown this, as proof that you'll only end up regretting it. Welcome home!
5. Not at all. Whenever I check cab specs these days, weight is the 1st thing I look at.
6. Goggle did post in this thread earlier on. Perhaps 'dave' is his alter-ego?
7. It must be incredibly special. It's only twice the price of a brand new custom Elite bass.
8. The OP is right, an Ampeg is THE only choice for whatever music you play and whatever sound you are after. Look for forthcoming articles on what bass to play, what colour it should be, permitted length of strap and pose to adopt on stage.
9. Trouble Funk, what an outrageous live band... cooler than the other side of the pillow.
10.
Nice profile pic. She's certainly like my big rig!
Au contraire. She'd look at your fridge, and think "Oh yes..? I wonder what he's compensating for..."
11. Septic Venereal Tumour ew, sorry Satisfied, Veall Terminated Salivating Vampire Tomatoes Sterling? Very Touchy
12.
Anyway, I still think amps are for people who like...Fiona Fullerton.
Care to explain to me exactly how that is a bad thing?
13. For me, this:
I can easily beat an all valve head by pouring a pint of Guinness in the vents. Ka boom. Obviously the 'Ka boom' has superior tone to a transistor explosion though.
was the [/thread] moment. Genius.
14. Sucks Very Thoroughly Several Vivacious Tramps Stupid Vatican Twat Seriously Vanquished Troll
15. Does anyone know the best treatment for a broken toe? After reading the other thread, I was so overwhelmed with disgust at myself for having non-Ampeg amplification that I can shift without a forklift truck, that I set fire to my garage containing my rig rather than have to defile my fingers by touching it again. Trouble is, as the fire engine arrived (too late, thankfully) it ran over my foot.
16. My solid state amp is the loudest bass amp in my house. FACT!
17.
seems to be alot of underlying valve hate in this thread which makes me sad
Really? I hadn't noticed any of that. There is quite a lot of underlying arrogance/stupidity hate though, which is good
18.
Worth every penny my friend! Especially from here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NEW-Hipshot-BT-1-Bas...tar_Accessories
Wow, that is an absurd bargain!
if you need any proof that they are good check out what michael manring does with them! sublime playing!
Oh noes! You posted a Manring vid! I give it half an hour before the first "that's not proper bass/what a load of bollocks/etc" comment that his stuff usually draws. Personally, I think the guy is a god.
19. IMO the single best mod you can make to a 4-string bass.
Check out the Tribute on Jon Shukers page.. Was that bass Old gits?
Yup. Si was Shuker 5-String P-Bass Club member #1.
21.
Fender's and Wal's used to be a good bet for maintaining and even increasing their value. Fender’s because they were old (and Fender!) and Wal because they were difficult to get hold of. Now Wal's are back in production I think that might have put a cap on their potential, so it's old Fenders all the way.
I'd like to think that the early Wals will be unaffected by this and will continue to appreciate. I hope so anyway, my Pro IIE is one of my few appreciating assets and I'd like it to stay one!
22. 'Old Man River', Chet Atkins & Jerry Reed. Oh, bliss Coming up: Porcupine Tree, 'Deadwing'
23. Sounds more like 'Soap' if you ask me...
24. I can't do youtube from this work pc, so I have no idea what videos you just posted but I'd like to put in a vote for Abba's 'Dancing Queen'. For my money, the perfect pop song.
25. I like Sting and I always have done. I like his voice, I like his music (well, most of it), and I love his playing. I don't care how supposedly naff he is or how much the media like to poke fun. I like and respect him as a musician. So there.
