1. Hartke's gone, Headrush still up for grabs. C'mon chaps, it's a bargain.
2.
You're a BC staffer, member number 2 in fact, which makes your narrow-minded attitude of how the instrument should and shouldn't be played ("egotistical when the whole band is used as a vehicle for the bass" and "I don't think the bass works as a solo instrument") frankly quite frightening!
And of course it's a well-known fact that BC staffers are not allowed to have, or express, opinions on anything.
3. Used them for years until I had some QC issues too... a whole series of duff A strings. I changed brands, and have never looked back.
4. Sennheiser HD280 pro. Recommended without hestitation. Not hugely cheap, but worth every last shekel.
5.
I like the sound of getting the Black HB Jag and put another HB in.
Do it. And make a build diary of it, with some sound samples. The Jag shape has always reminded me of those occasional sad sights you see on eBay (usually in that German comedy store), where some muppet has come home from the pub and taken a bandsaw to his Jazz in order to make it 'unique'.
6. Plus the one. Never been overkeen on the Jag shape TBH. 209 quid is an absurd bargain though.
7.
I've dealt with them a couple of times for replacement valves and can thoroughly agree with the OPs comments. These guys know their valves, are enthusiastic about their subject matter and are a pleasure to deal with.
Yup, similar experience here.
8. The basses really are lovely, but this is definitely the star of the show for me. Stunning.
9. Japan, 'Oil On Canvas'. Mick Karn stealing the show.
10.
Overall, I enjoy BGM. It's not perfect, but what alternatives are there?
+1. I used to automatically buy Bass Pamphlet, sorry Player whenever I saw it in Smith's, but last time I flicked through it first and none of the few bits I could see between the adverts appealed in the slightest. So I walked away. A lack of competition doesn't excuse a lack of care though. I hate to say it, but Bassist was a far more polished product.
11. Paypal preferred, cheque OK though. No trades ta. The near-legendary Akai Headrush E1 Tap Delay/Tape Echo Simulator/Looping Recorder The Headrush has 3 modes: Loop Recording: can record a single loop up to 23.8 seconds long or an overdubbed loop up to 11.9 seconds. Tap Delay: the maximum tap tempo delay time is 23.8 seconds. Tape Echo: designed to simulate a 4 head analogue tape delay ("Copicat"). Each 'head' has its own output, so you can send multiple signals from the Headrush to multiple amps or mixer channels. Mint condition. Only ever used for a bit of experimentation at home, has never left the house. Boxed, with original power supply and blurb. £SOLD. Hartke VXL Attack tone-shape preamp What they say: "Hartke's VXL Bass Attack Pedal is a tone-shaping pre-amp that doubles as a direct box, featuring the famous Hartke Shape Circuitry. The two-button style stomp box has a three band EQ for adjustments of Bass, Treble, and Bright controls, plus a Harmonic control that emulates the warmth and drive of a tube so well that you'll never want to turn it off. The Hartke Bass Attack Pedal gives you the ability to finally get the sound you want, and everything in between." What I say: totally unused. In fact, it's still sealed in the original plastic bag. Thomann want £85 plus postage for these, but you can get this one for £SOLD.
12. Chorus & overdrive both sold pending the usual, octaver still available.
13. If you mean battery, then yes
14. No loss of bottom end as far as i can detect. Check my control settings in the pic, you can see that i have never needed any low end boost when using the effect.
15. Paypal preferred, cheque OK though. Not looking for trades thanks, I need the cash. Yamaha OC-01 Octaver In very good original condition. Bit of a rare bird, this -- in fact, this is the only one I've ever seen. Identical to the Korg OCT-1, and you don't see many of them either. Sounds utterly superb, better to my ears than the 'classic' Boss OC2. It certainly tracks far better than any other octave I've tried. Nobody in the world seems to have the first idea what the 'polarity' switch does... it doesn't seem to have an audible effect anyway. I like this one a lot. £SOLD EDIT: unfortunately I appear to have accidentally deleted the pic. So here links to pics of similar pedals. I will reinstate my pic when I get home later. Sorry..! 16. Primus? But I thought you asked for a good slapped fretless recording? *awaits barrage of hate from Claypool fans*

Prices!
EDIT: oh and Diesel on Monday 126.9p, now 136.9p
That'd be partly down to the fuel duty hike too. Daylight bastid robbery. And my weekly rail season has gone up by nearly 7%.
18. I'm generally happy with the reviews (although if I see the phrase "dialled in" used once more, I shall scream). And unlike a lot of people, I like the idea of interviews with lesser known players -- I'd far rather see that than yet another interview with Stuart Zender. Proofreading still requires major attention though. Far too many elementary cockups are still getting through.
19. Me too. Not overkeen on the Stinger, although a different colour scheme might help. But that white Poseidon is fabulous.
20. For You - Judie Tzuke. Not sad, but gobsmackingly beautiful... just a few strings, and layers of vocals, and that's it. No bass, so it probably doesn't belong here.
