1. I'm generally happy with the reviews (although if I see the phrase "dialled in" used once more, I shall scream). And unlike a lot of people, I like the idea of interviews with lesser known players -- I'd far rather see that than yet another interview with Stuart Zender. Proofreading still requires major attention though. Far too many elementary cockups are still getting through.
2. Me too. Not overkeen on the Stinger, although a different colour scheme might help. But that white Poseidon is fabulous.
3. For You - Judie Tzuke. Not sad, but gobsmackingly beautiful... just a few strings, and layers of vocals, and that's it. No bass, so it probably doesn't belong here.
4. Lincoln Goines' sound, last time I saw him playing in Mike Stern's quartet... his Fodera signature bass, tiny Walter Woods amp, Epifani 3x10" cab. A tone to die for
5. Initial thoughts... 1. Aguilar rig behind Dave Swift 2. My god, is that really Alison Moyet.?? Wow! 3. Bellowhead get better every time I see them.
6. JD I have a couple of brass ones too, which I sometimes use. Really dirty sounding.
7. Hell yes, John Giblin is a fretless god. His work on that Fish album is superb.
8. First: Höfner Artist II -> Phoenix PHA1 amp -> Custom Sound 4x12 cab Current: Shuker custom/Status S1/Wal Pro IIE -> Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 -> 2 x Nemesis 1x15 cabs
Hofner Artist Bass I wish I still had the Hofner. ... HOFNER ARTIST BASS
I've still got mine. I get a big nostalgia rush every time I pick it up. My goal is to finally make it giggable again, it's got that fabulous 'woof' in the sound that you only get from clunky short scale 60s basses. I also need to get hold of a replacement plastic logo for the headstock, but the last one to appear on fleaBay went for £62...
9.
I ask only because they've approached us about sponsorship and say they've been getting a lot of traffic from Basschat. I'm really curious to know why, I can't see any obvious connection.
I'm struggling to resist making any sort of comment about heavy metal...
10.
just let the keyboard player do the bass
Admins, ban this guy immediately.
11. I use a bit of chorus (Boss) and phase (Ibanez) in a couple of places, to add a bit of colour. I use an old Yamaha octaver on a couple of tunes, and some really filthy nasty distortion (Ibanez Phat Hed) on occasion. I also have a Korg tuner and a Boss volume pedal. Thinking of getting a Bass Pod XT Live to replace that lot, and give me some other possibilities.

Octave pedal

Yes, +1 for that. I reckon it'd be right up your street.
13. *Allen You might well find that your bass needs a 'chinese 4mm' key... i.e. anywhere between about 3.5 and 4.5mm without actually being 4mm. ps. I still listen frequently to your Kirby Dots album... mesmerising stuff.
14. As a Status player and former Jaydee owner, I'd say Status every time. Jaydees are fun but too much of a one-trick pony IME.
15. James, you have another PM. Please add asking prices to this and your other sale thread ASAP.
16. When my fingers become too arthritic to move. Which at this rate will be in about 18 months.
17.
And he's showing that he can quite easily play the other lad under the table
Well in fairness, actually having both hands gives him a bit of a head-start...
18.
I will never ever use Interparcel for any of my shipments. as there isn't an emoticon for "bloody furious".
Will this one do?
19. I think I'd live here.
20. The only signature bass worth considering.
21. Oh god, marketing blurb can be some of the very worst writing you'll ever see. There's one marketing bunch in the U.S. somewhere, don't know who they are but their style is unmistakeable. They wrote one of the old Peavey catalogues a few years back and it was unintentionally hilarious. Instead of sensible flowing prose, they use. A lot of very small. Short sentences. Half a dozen words. At most. And packed with as many clichés. As they. Can think. Of. ARRRGGGH. It absolutely does your head in trying to read it. I shall never forget their write-up for the T40... the first lines were "This is the bass they said couldn't be built. The rest is history". That first sentence was the longest one in the whole catalogue, I think. So bad, it's. Funny.
22. Actually, no, they're not. As of 30 seconds ago... Our members have made a total of 1,050,917 posts We have 12,031 registered members The newest member is nofrets Most users ever online was 4,599 on Dec 4 2010, 02:04 AM Anyway, back on topic... personally I suppose if I had to choose one single best bass model ever, I'd have to say 'Jazz'. Obviously, as far as the single best bass guitar in the world is concerned, it's my Shuker 5. But then again, I'm biased.
23. There's no way on this earth that I could play, or would even want, one of these mad monsters... I tried playing Doodle once and it nearly melted my brain. But I certainly like to see them. Fascinating stuff. More power to your elbow, & looking forward to the build diary.
