1. I'm looking for a lightweight (15kg> as I'm only small) 2x10 bass cab as I'll have to lose my car when I move to London & my Trace Elliot rig is far too heavy for the tube. I've whittled the cab selection down to the Ampeg SVT-210AV & the Markbass Traveler 102P as I'm not looking to spend more than £300 (granted I found one of the Markbass cabs second hand for that). I'm looking for what people would recommend & comparisons from those who have tried both? Currently I'm too far from anywhere to test them out for myself past YouTube videos so some help would be appreciated! Thanks for any help & input!
2. Sorry, I forgot to mention it being for bass guitar! I just realised I didn't make it clear enough!

4. (Sorry, I'm not sure where to post this so I"m posting here - if there's a better place could you let me know please?) Does anyone know any cool bass-only (or with minimal backing, i.e. just percussion or one other instrument) jazz or classical pieces? I go back to school in less than a week & I have to perform a solo piece for my pre U music class, so because it's a classical based course, I wanted to do something classical or jazzy (as I consider myself to mainly be a jazzer/funker). Also because I have to learn it by Thursday, something "easier" would be preferred, i.e. no ridiculous tempos or amount of chords haha Thanks for any suggestions!

6. Any chance I could add myself to the list? Are there now two copies going around?
7. Thank you for all the advice, I'll definitely check out those artists & try out those tips
8. I play jazz regularly in a school band, & know that I want to continue with it in the future, so that, combined with being a big Jaco Pastorius fan has got me interested in getting a fretless bass. As my interest has grown I've spent much more time practicing intonation & other technical aspects of playing so I don't move to a fretless & realise that my playing has been incredibly messy. I was thinking of getting a fretless Jazz as I've been after a Fender Jazz for ages, so this seemed like the ideal opportunity What I wanted to ask was for any tips or pointers for someone new to the whole fretless side of bass playing?
9. Thanks to everyone that helped! I managed to play both today in a music shop & I'm definitely reassured that my initial decision for a Stingray was the right one
10. I have played on both, but not at the same time, so I don't think I can compare them very well, only know that they were both great to play. What's the difference between active & passive?
11. (Is this the right place to put this?) I've been searching/saving for a Stingray (candy red finish w/matching headstock, rosewood fretboard, 4 string) for the past year, & now that I've finally found the exact bass I've been looking for I'm getting cold feet about it. I mainly play funk, or funky style stuff, but also a bit of jazz (& rarely some indie stuff), but mainly the funk. Would a stingray suit this style? I've also considered getting a Fender Jazz with a maple neck, but I can't decide if I'd much prefer it, or hate it much more? It also needs to be quite sturdy as I end up knocking my equipment far more than I'd like to admit. Also price doesn't even matter (EDIT: In the future (< 5 years), I'll probably end up getting whichever I don't get now)
12. (I should have done this earlier, but I can't write these things) My name's Cordelia & I've been playing bass guitar for a few years now, but I'm also looking to take up double bass. I'm still at school so there's loads for me to learn yet, but I'm confident at the level I am at the moment. I mainly, & love to, play funk, but I'm open to many genres (especially the challenging stuff) so I try to play in as many groups as possible. Some of my bass inspirations include Bootsy Collins, Jaco Pastorius, Bernard Edwards, & James Jamerson. Music's pretty much what my life's centered on at the moment; I'm planning on going to a music uni after school, & I'm determined to make a career out of bass playing. At the moment I only own a crappy ESP but soon I'm getting a Fender Jazz or a Stingray (still haven't decided on which), & I intend on getting a decent amp when I have the money.
