1. Ok, I've trawled through the box and the closest I can find are these two. Excuse the dodgy pics: Close-up view: They are 17mm tall and the general description sounds like yours, as you can see the side grooves peter out towards the bottom. These came off my old Status when I blinged it up Let me know via PM if you want these, and I'll stick them in the mail. I'll clean them first I've not got many spline shaft knobs in the box, I must admit. I have a few sets of three grub screw fix ones in black if you're interested.
2.
Seriously, was that intended to be offensive ?
Well, nobody else seems to think so We played the evening do of a ladies' civil partnership once, it was brilliant. Great audience and you've never seen a happier happy couple.
3. I have a vast knob collection. Let me check, might well have something similar. Is it a splined pot shaft?

5.
Now you're just baiting lol!
Who is this lol person, and why would discreet be baiting him/her?
6. And there's Tom R. Toe and Tom Bowler.
7. One of the two** shops in London worth visiting. ** three if you include V&R.

9.
I though we had done this to death already?
Several times.
What sort of thumb pick?
These.

Picks

I recently experimented with a thumbpick rather than my usual 1mm black Dunlop, and the experiment was a roaring success. My fingers don't get achey any more, plus I find I can swap easily between pick and fingerstyle on the fly mid-song, which has already proved useful!
12. Walk away from the drummer yes, but not the band unless they're all poor or gits. For an indication of how much difference can be made to a band's dynamic by having a really good drummer as opposed to an average/poor one, compare the first two Marillion albums.
13.
In a nutshell you are wasting your time with poor drummers. If you start carrying drummers because they are weak then your playing suffers IMHO. A drummer is the most important member of the band and if this isn't right it wont sound right. The moment you find the right drummer that is good at timing etc your job is more enjoyable and your bass playing will groove and improve.
I was about to say I'm lucky because I've never had to play with a bad drummer, but thinking about it I have. Going back at least 20 years, there was one fella who was a nice guy but oh god what a woeful player. No sense of tempo, played a fill and came back in on the wrong beat, etc, and yes it just sucked all the enjoyment out. Thankfully he acknowledged his shortcomings and bowed out gracefully, and even recommended us a replacement who turned out to be excellent. It was like a totally different band.
14.
Consistency is where I have trouble with drummers. The guy really funked it up in pocket last time we played, this time he's playing everything straigh?. WTH Blue
Maybe a punter said he was overplaying and he took it to heart?
15. If only I was after a six, this would be the perfect companion for my five... GLWTS!
16. You won't stand a chance of selling it with 'SOLD' as a thread title. As a reminder -- when you've sold your item, please add the word 'SOLD' to the thread title. Do not replace the entire title.
17. I'd rather watch Nick watching Bubinga's cat having a 5hit.
18. I'd keep a look out for Yamahas too. Their fives are superb instruments, and you can pick up RBX 5-strings for peanuts.
19. Well it does clearly say 'Relic'. Question is, is it a factory Relic or just a slightly-mistreated-by-previous-owner(s) 'Relic'?
20. Ours is a bit more like this.
21. The ones that always seem to get people up are Dancing In The Streets, I Want You Back (segued into ABC), Walking On Sunshine, Uptown Funk, and Enjoy Yourself.
22.
It's not a bass amp but a preamp. I used to own one and only sold it because i already had the Alembic. The PB1 is a very nice preamp: Another preamp, doesn't have a "Q" control as wide as the Yamaha but it sounds very good (also had one back in the day):
IIRC, didn't the old TC Electronic 1144 preamp have full parametric bands too? Sorry about the zombie thread derail How's life with the Magellan?
