1. I'll have a listen! I love that sort of stuff and have been wanting to join/start a band in the style of Propagandhi/A Wilhelm Scream for quite a while - though it's hard just to meet like-minded folk, never mind jam with them and go from there... So, nice work and mega bass chops. Very Brian Robinson and a tone to boot! Intro to 'Sunderland' reminds me of 'Things I Like' by Propagandhi:
2. 7/10. Pleased I got the Maiden one as I couldn't recall when Beast and Piece came out... Go with your gut!

Bigwan's Feedback!

I bought Ian's Bass Big Muff. Great guy to deal with - prompt communications and no fuss with delivery - next day! Thanks!
4. Anything Smiths Iron Maiden - Powerslave Duran Duran - Rio Rush - Grace Under Pressure
5. So good. Also, check out the 12" release of Power of Love. I'd love to play that lead line on bass with some fuzz (and a pitch-shifter, I guess!)
6. I'm 26 going on 66.
7. Yeah, I geddit. It's when I hit my favourite notes and feel them resonate through the chunky neck. Feels so substantial! Err.
8. This should help you. I love jamming to this one!
9.
For me it's Foo Fighters - Nate Mendel. They have a handful of great songs but I always get the image of, Nate rocking awkwardly with his wrist glued to his bass, come to mind when I listen to them or when I watch on YouTube it puts me off watching
Big fan of Nate, meself. I think that awkward style is kind of endearing - and the guy certainly knows how to play. He's understated while Dave and Taylor go crazy; it works for me
10.
Aka 10% inspiration, 90% perspiration
You got a source for that, matey?
11. I use a Korg Px4d. Not sure how much they're going for these days, but they're a great bit of kit. Plug in iPod/laptop/whatever with an aux cable, plug bass in, use headphones.
12. It's a tricky one. I find myself in a similar situation (though I haven't left a band)... Jammed with a couple of nice guys - it's mostly layered, atmospheric post-rock stuff which I don't mind, but I feel a bit limited as a bass player. I'm tempted, like you, to duck out, but the other half of me thinks that I could get something out of this. If they're cool and you enjoy their company, it might be worth giving it a go. If it doesn't work, cut your losses.
13. Only really listened to two albums: Snow - which was fantastic - and eponymous - which was... okay-ish. I'd go see them but I don't know tonnes. Either way, Dave Meros' tone and playing is boss.
14.
I'm glad other people are impressed by this. I was concerned i might be nerding out over it on my own
Nah - think we're all geeks/nerds! Like when I tell my girlfriend to stop and listen to a bass fill... 'um yeah um - great um'
15. Worth that build up every time.
16.
I used to be a huge Maiden fan... These days I find the unnecessarily long songs with choruses repeated way too often a little tedious to be honest. If they halved song length (and in this case album length!) and dropped some of the chorus repetition they'd be more interesting to me.
This, basically. Decided to spend my bus journey yesterday morning listening to it. Enjoyed the opener, then it just all got a bit dull. I'd love a few shorter songs in there to break up the long ones. That's what prevented me from even skimming the surface of The Final Frontier. Shame, really as I still love me some Maiden.
17. That is a beauty, and mighty tempting. I haven't tried a Warwick before. How's the neck thickness-wise vs. Jazz, Precision? Appreciate it.
18.
If you like Disturbed, Panic Cell are ace, cracking UK band who've now sadly split. Drowning Pool and Soil are worth a look too if you're into that sort of thing
+1 to Panic Cell - good fun. Our old band supported them at an Exeter gig back in the day. Agree with the suggestions of Cynic and Mastodon. I still maintain that 'The Poison' by Bullet for my Valentine is a great metal album despite their other hit-and-miss cases. Opeth are groovy as feck - Blackwater Park album is one of my favourites for headbanging metal.
19. Some nice bass dirt you've got there in the verse!
20. Does these have the narrow Jazz-like necks? Lovely bass.
21. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Hoppus was a jazz body with a precision neck? Unless the neck got switched out Best of luck with the sale anyhow - lovely basses!
22. I like playing through the first four tracks on 'Wasting Light' by Foo Fighters, 'Feathers', 'Running Free' and a few more from Coheed, 'There is a Light That Never Goes Out' by The Smiths (though I always destroy the chorus...), and some Weezer recently.
23. Frankie Teardrop by Suicide is not one to listen to with headphones in a darkened room. Made me uneasy.
