1. Fantastic bass! Can vouch for quality here. I fitted a Gotoh bridge to mine too - never has disappointed.
2. Has anyone mentioned Cemetary Gates? I'm a metal 'muggle' but love that riff.. Chunky
3. Like others have said, a load of isolated bass tones sound like crap (Ellefson's excepted IMO). Even some of Harris' old stuff sounds naff: But still amazing within the band setting, right?
4.
Just out of interest, check out how ridiculously tight Dave Ellefson's playing is!
Amen. Ellefson is a beast!
5.
I'm assuming you are being serious because you've been a gobsh*te in the past on similar subjects, so I am happy to say that your pronouncement is absolute bollocks.
+1 I couldn't do it.
6. SHUBDIVISHUNS Oh, make it stop. Musically, I very much enjoyed it.
7. Sherane by Kendrick Lamar is stuck in my head currently. Lots of great bass work on that album.
8. Alternating between Afterman: Ascension and Descension by Coheed and Cambria.
9. Nice to see Jon Gallant getting some recognition - certainly underrated
10. Dat bass
11. I think davidsin is a really decent player but his plucking hand attack and general tone winds me up the wrong way - little obnoxious and sounds like a Flea clone. Like I say, that's not to disregard his ability - he is skilled.
12. I guess we're talking ELO here. Are we missing something? Some really tasteful playing by Jeff on the records. I agree with Silddx regarding listening and appreciating the song as a whole - that's a whole different type of satisfaction! Edit: Yes, I missed your first sentence. Cool tune.
13. As previously mentioned, Bernard Edwards (thereafter John Taylor) for use of ghost notes. Mic Todd (ex-Coheed) for note timing and placement.
14.
does indeed! I had the first album(particularly What You Know) in mind, very different tone, and very trebley compared to Sun and other recordings with a low-end-heavy tone, say Simonon on Guns Of Brixton.
Indeed. Loved the tone in both albums, to be honest.
15.
The connection of Stonehenge to the 25,920 year orbital procession of the equinox and the number 432 is obvious. Hippy, pseudo scientific, twiddle twaddle!
I can't trust anything with a gif of a heart with legs, body and a key.
16.
Nah, than was a step backwards. [JOKE]
Hope you have your coat in your hand
17. The Peace Sells album by Megadeth was 1/4 step down, wasn't it?
18.
My favourite Coheed stuff is the album with Taylor Hawkins on it, think that's some of the best drumming he's put on record! Amazed that Tim Commerford/Brad Wilk have only had one mention, the first Rage Against The Machine album made me into a proper bass player!
Nice one. That's Good Apollo 2, right? Cool album but Good Apollo 1 is one of my favourite albums of all time - bass and the drums are perfect.
19. Singlecuts really don't do it for me.
20. Taylor Hawkins / Nate Mendel (Foo Fighters) Josh Eppard / Mic Todd (Old Coheed & Cambria)
